Cheap Bugeye Lips

I'm in the market for a front lip for MY02 bugeye. I'm leaning somewhere in the direction of either the Prodrive lip or a [replica] STi Version 1 lip.
Now, like everyone, I'm looking to save a few bucks.
Can any of you guys suggest replicas, websites, and lip options?
Where have you all ordered from? What's the best value? What do you all like?

prodrive has no replicas, but at ~ $220 it's the best looking and most durable lip around, and for the price of other replicas you get a genuine, wind-tunnel tested part.
the sti v1 is nice too but it's fiberglass and closes off your brake ducts.
also look at the greddy, though it's getting rarer.
the absolute cheapest you'll find anything for is probably right around 170... spend the extra dough and get the prodrive.

Fair enough. Prodrive sounds like your best bet... nice and simple. OEM is just a plus because it comes pre-painted.

I have yet to buy an lnr part (granted they wear private sales but regardless) that had a good quality straight weave. prodrive is my vote.

my friend just got a greddy lip for his bug eye i think he said he paid 185 shipped....looks good too, i liked it a lot cept he didnt have it painted so it kinda threw things off a bit

I had the CF v1 replica from gruppe-s....it was strong as hell....it finally cracked when it caught on a tree root in a dirt parking lot as I backed out----scared the HELL outa me when it let go with a BANG!!!
| Hank3 | 04-04-2006 11:29 PM |
Keep in mind you'll have to pay to get the Prodrive lip painted. It cost me a total of about $320 or so after all said and done. But well worth it IMO :)

does anybody have a picture of the prodrive lip? I can't remember what it looks like. I've been thinking of getting one also. Does it come in black or is it primer?

Does anyone know if there's anything out there for the bugeyes similar to something like the STi V-Limited for the 04+? I'm looking for something in black that's thin and simple. It looks like most of the black lips for the bugeyes are big and gawdy.
| Handsdown | 04-08-2006 12:24 PM |
someone made one but i don't really recall... did you search for 'v-limited' and 'bugeye'?
EDIT:
TRU makes a replica that fits the bugeye.

what grill insert is that? mine is all hacked up from a intercooler kit gone bad, but an APS upgrade fixed that...
| Paulie V | 04-08-2006 03:30 PM |
No, I didn't search for that- will do.
I'll have to take a look into the TRU one- that's pretty much what I was talking about, thanks!

TRU and LRN lips are pretty much the answer to what you're looking for.

I think since the center section (vertical section) is painted to match the PSM color, it looks like it's a different grill?

Which vendors carry the TRU front lip?
| InfamousDX | 04-09-2006 09:59 PM |
Hey that's me :)
And only www.sojdm.com carries em... they're ****in $500 (ripoff) but I got mine on discount due to cosmetic damage that you couldn't even see
And that's a jdm sti grill with center section painted. And I don't know about you but i don't go into driveways straight in.. angled always and not once did it scrape.

were those headlights painted on the silver bugeye?
| kellie00 | 04-10-2006 09:47 PM |
I have a TRU lip on my 02. It looks nice, but not that durable. I'd be pissed if I didn't pick it up on the super cheap.
| sovietjet | 04-10-2006 11:18 PM |
Look around the used parts forums. I got a greddy lip for $35 and painted it myself. Considering you buy lips unpainted for over $200 new it's worth it.

that's mine. Nope.
kellie00: How much did you get yours for? I got it super discounted too and yea, it's not that durable... then again, don't let other people drive your car

You should check out Rally Sport Direct. They might have some (or at least their website didn't obviously indicate that they were out of stock).
