Moooo... Hello Katzkin!!!

The big brown truck brought me a gift today.. I managed to get the rear bench, rear armrest, and front headrests done today before my wife told me play time was over.
Details: Color Autumn, with perforated Dark Graphite inserts, and Autumn door cards.

I would HATE to have the stupid katskin logo on my seats... its free advertising for them, but detracts from the look... it doesnt exactly have the WOW factor of BRIDE or anything.
nice upgrade though..but on a blue car?

I like the color and the design.... though I really can't see working that into the STi or WRX without changing the entire interior/carpet to intergrate that color. I'm going to have a local shop do leather seats in mine in a few weeks, but I've also reupholsterd the roof (dove grey material over the factory headliner)... recarpeted the car (a really plush dark grey matches the dash vinyl....) When the seats get done, outers to match the dash, insets to match the ceiling. Then the blue in the door cards will get replaced with light grey perforated light grey (like the seats)... basically to eliminate the blue.
Two-color schemes a lot easier to pull off than three.,..... ;)

The white Katzkin logo is really tacky and doesn't go with the browns.
| brcewane | 09-09-2006 07:10 AM |
I figured everyone would have their own opinions.. I like the Katzkin logo with the contrast of the colors.. I wanted some white stitching on the seatback for contrast and didn't want to put something like WRX, Imprezza, STI since IMO they are a little cheesy.. I figure it is no different than a "sparco", "bride" logo, just maybe not as "cool" to some people.
I will hopefully have some install pictures by the end of the weekend..
Here are some photos where I got my inspiration from for the color scheme:

Unlike most, I like them. I like that color in the 350Z interior, and I think it looks fine in your car. Who cares if people don't like the Katzkin logo... it's not that much of an eyesore.
| MartinD | 09-10-2006 12:34 AM |
Reminds me of a baseball glove too much, not really a fan.
| TurboTrey03 | 09-10-2006 12:42 AM |
i think that color, the blue/tan combo, will have to grow on some people but + 1 for being different and going with it.
| brcewane | 09-10-2006 07:11 AM |
Yeah, it is kinda a love it or hate it type of color.. I love the 350z and the Audi TT baseball glove stitching..
It is hard to like the color until you see it all together in the car in person... when I first picked it out my wife was like WTF are you doing.. LOL
Hopefully I can get the door cards and the passenger seat done today.. might have to spend some time playing with my daughter too :)

also curious of the cost. katzkin's website wasnt very helpfull in that regard.

Aren't those hog rings and metal rods a ball to install?? I managed to get mine off e-bay without the logo's. Cool different color choice.

def think its ugly man, i mean least if the car was black or something id help alot more but on blue with blue door panel inserts just doesnt flow..
also that leather def needs to be pulled tighter

| couchflambeau | 09-10-2006 01:57 PM |
Well, you might be able to float it after all.... Just get rid of ALL the blue on the interior.... You said you have a WRX so I'm assuming you did a full STi interior? I know you said the insets on the doors are going to get done.... I'd also get rid of the STi blue carpeting if you have it and go with dark grey to match the doors/dash. Definitely anything more than three colors (dark grey/light grey, and that brown) is going to leave you lookin' like a fashion victim I think.
Hope it turns out the way you want it to.... it's quite an investment you got there. And if you like it, who cares about the rest of the opinions, you're the one who has to look at it....

******** UPDATE **********
First of all I have to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Killian (kiwee) for giving me a hand today. I wouldn't have gotten nearly as much done without his help. Thanks again.
Here are some update pics.. I've got pretty much everything done except for gluing the Autumn color in the door cards.. they are all apart, just need to be glued. The Dark Graphite inserts are an exact match for the interior color of all the plastic.
I finished the one rear door.. but I may end up re-doing it, there are a couple of details that I didn't like. I was just starting to rush things so I decided to call it a day and finish the doors up in the evenings after my daughter goes to sleep.
So without anything further.. here are the pics:

And then I also painted the area on the door where the window controls are to match the other silver interior.

| Blue Rabbit 02 | 09-11-2006 04:22 PM |
inside peanut butter....
i dig it. It's not exactly my ideal combo (woulda gone with autumn in a silver, wite or black car) but i like that it is different.
logo is neither here nor there. maybe just the stars of pel.. pala.. (you know what im trying to spell, so why bother :D)
overall - thumbs up

in addition - i think the colors would mesh better if you did a dark charcoal suded headliner, and dyed all the pillars a shade or wo darker to match. then, perfection!

Maybe not the colors I would have gone with, but that looks like a top notch kit there - very nice! You can get a leather cover for the center armrest, shift boot, and e-brake handle - even do panels and stitching in colors that match what you have (there's a vendor in the for-sale section)
| Damon | 09-16-2006 11:53 PM |
i hope you like them. i really dont think they "fit" the car, but if you like them thats all that matters.
| TurboTrey03 | 09-17-2006 12:52 AM |
maybe black with silver inserts would've gone with your black n silver flow but its good to be different none the less. now you can say you're probably the only bugeye in the country to have that scheme! plus all of your other work ive seen ya do on here is outstanding. bugeye for life brotha!

I like the final results. I would make a couple of changes though, mainly in changing the carpet and floormats to match the. Say to get an effect like this:
