Rota Formel, yay or nay?

OK everyone the title says it all. I have a 2002 SRP WRX Wagon, and really like these wheels, I will probably end up going with 17x7.5's in gold. All I am really looking for is some feedback, good, bad, indifferent, let me know :D .
| Thumper23 | 04-24-2006 01:47 AM |
I think they're good looking wheels. Nice knockoffs of the original optional BBS' for the WRX.
| BUCKman_02 | 04-24-2006 01:59 AM |
Yeah, I really like the way they look too. The only thing that is really getting me is the weight, at about 20lbs it seems to be kind of a heavy wheel. The Sub-Zero on the other hand is only about 17lbs. I really don't know. The more I reasearch this wheels the more I kinda want to get something else.
Please keep posting everyone!:)

they look great on the gc's but for a bugeye id say the formula mesh would look better.
| enewtabie | 04-24-2006 07:12 AM |
I had them..They were decent enough.I just hated cleaning them.
| G3Red04WRX | 04-24-2006 09:28 AM |
Id say go for it, they are on the top of my list too for my SRR 04 WRX. The gold mesh style wheels look great on red IMO. Either the formels, or the formula mesh if your going with Rotas. Formula mesh only come 18"s iirc, so its a toss up on how big you want to go.

I say go for it. I like the Formula Mesh more but those only come in 18.

This is EXACTLY how I feel. I really do love the way that these wheels look on the bugeyes, but the weight thing is kinda of a big deal for me.
Scotty, I am in JAX as well, what do you think of the Rota Sub Zero, in the same size? Good Choice?

...sure....the sub zero's are all good......but I'd get a 17x8 wheel so ay can use a bigger tire if ya deceide to, later....a 17x7.5 will limit ya to an unapproved for a 7.5 but widely used anyway----235/40.....

I like them, but their weight would preclude me from using them in tarmac competition. If I had the cash I would buy some formels just to sport for daily driving and then use the lighter stockers for auto-x.
| johnnyb | 04-24-2006 02:56 PM |
I have always liked that mesh style of wheel.
| BUCKman_02 | 04-24-2006 05:28 PM |
Does anyone know off the top of their head how much the stock wheels weigh on a WRX?
| LA | 04-24-2006 07:32 PM |
around 17lbs give or take a pound i believe
| Lachlan | 04-24-2006 08:12 PM |
16 lbs

vf22-wrx, I gotta say, rubber-bands or no... that is one fine looking subie.
I think the pictures that people post are the real reason I ever even started a thread on this... :p

I think they look pretty good! How much do they weigh?
| vapore0n | 04-27-2006 04:05 PM |
I had those wheels in silver in my black WRX. Paired with Eibach springs those wheels looked perfect on it.
They are preaty heavy though, like 20lbs each.

Bumping an old thread cuz I might be trading for these wheels. Just realized they look tiny in 17s though...almost like 16s.

Always something negative to say ^^^ OP, those rims look great man, 18's would look even better... Not everyone has 2 grand to spend on Volks, Prodrives etc.
