How did Mike do?
pio!pio! 03-15-2005 09:54 PM

Any times from today's practice?
RaceComp Engineering 03-15-2005 10:05 PM

My understanding from 2 race informants who are there, is that he is having some electrical problems and to what degree , I dont know. I wil have more info as it comes to me.

Jeremy Edwards is there snapping and Chad Block is there trying to secure his LMP season( good luck CHAD..!!)

DILLIGAF Racing 03-15-2005 10:36 PM

I hope he fixes all the gremlins. That would suck if he is fighting with the car alot. But, I guess thats racing.
jslegacy 03-16-2005 12:21 AM

The WRX is having an electrical issue, it is a very serious issue from what I have been told and will not be put on the track until it is solved. . .which would really suck becuase I am down here to shoot that car.

The weather was really iffy today and made for crappy shooting conditions and my battery was about to die so I was only to take a little over 200 shots, most turned out awesome. Right now they are just practicing and only people who had credentials were allowed at the track tomorrow - satturday it is opened to the public.

Is that a C6-R or just a C5-R? I thought that the car had always had fixed headlights..
dwx 03-16-2005 09:17 AM

After seeing some interior shots of the Irish Mike's car I guess I'm not 100% surprised it has some electrical issues, they pretty much rewired the whole thing. Hopefully they can get it sorted out.
BriDrive 03-16-2005 09:54 AM

That looks to me like its surely the new c6r............
I hope the aston martins and the ferraris will run the ALMS this year, at least at roadatlanta and give the GM/c6r monopoly some competition in GTS...last year was a bore.
Very nice pics Jeremy
Good Luck Chad B !

For BreakawayPhoto/Jeremy: Is the Maserati MC12 testing out there?

BD- that is the C6R they are racing two and some other private company is racing the old C5R in a different paint scheme.

Brian - yes the MC12 is out here only one and its pretty bad ass. Although alot of teams have issues with it since its the exemption to alot of rules.

Regarding Irish Mikes car, i think the electical issue deals something with the fuel, but i am not sure. I will go over there later today and see whats up.

i have some more photos from the speed practice this morning i am going to go through and see if any is worth posting.

lukerussell 03-16-2005 12:10 PM

WRX only 7 seconds off pace, but .4 seconds ahead of SRT4. Mazda 6 is kicking bootay.

It's suppose to rain nasty tomorrow for qualifying, so who knows what could happen. I think the advantage will be slight.

i have no idea, i think it might be becuase the white car was a 2.5RS and this is a 2004 wrx.

TitaniumMSP 03-17-2005 09:05 AM

gooooooo protege!! Bla, I cant believe they are still running a protege!! Look how will the mazda6's are running!! Go Tri-Point.

---Sorry
jslegacy 03-17-2005 09:11 AM

matt two of the 3 tri-point mazda6's are in the top 5 for lap times so they should do fairly well.

The weather sucks here and its raining which should give the suby a fighting chance when it comes to qualifing that happens around 11 i believe.

-jeremy
TitaniumMSP 03-17-2005 09:14 AM

yea I would think the suby would have the upper hand in crappy weather. But either way the mazda's will probably break on the track at some point. Goooo suby!!
D-I-Z-Z-L-E 03-17-2005 11:39 AM
mine or his?
both..
kwak 03-17-2005 12:13 PM
both..
Brad's are fine. Some of Jeremy's photos are under exposed -- all the Panoz shots, dark blue Porsche, Viper, Maserati. Checking a histogram verifies it. But Jeremy did say "made for crappy shooting conditions".
D-I-Z-Z-L-E 03-17-2005 12:25 PM

is brad sti tuner? there isnt one sharp image out of the last wrx set. and even though shooting conditions might be dark the images are either underexposed or need a serious bump in contrast.
D-I-Z-Z-L-E 03-17-2005 12:27 PM

dont get me wrong the shots are nice there is just something about some of them that dont do anything for me... not enough "pop" and too much soft...
ratt_finkel 03-17-2005 01:27 PM

Great pics, I can't believe how quickly that Protege caught up :(
jslegacy 03-17-2005 01:35 PM

well these photos are straight out of the camera except for re-sizing, i dont have photoshop on my laptop.

plus all the NICE ones are getting submitted to other sites and teams for potential work

yeah hence the whole no photoshop my laptop pretty freaking old and the Canon software wont work because the screen is to small.

I just got in from the rain, there was suppose to be a practice this afternoon once they cancelled the qualifing. I was out in the rain at turn one when another photographer came by in a golf cart and told me there was no one in the pits and gave me a ride back to the media center.

So yeah sitting havent taken a single photo today and nothing is planned until night practice at 730
zzyzx 03-17-2005 02:58 PM

Any pics of the engine bay or suspension of the WRX?

only reason they wouldn't run in the rain, is if there was lightning....that and flooding.

there was some thunder before the SWC quals. but i think it was becuase of the water level on the track. I saw some photos of the maserotti(sp) cutting through some water, really a one of kind shot. i just shot some vintage quals with some spin-outs pretty cool
kwak 03-17-2005 08:31 PM

The report was too much standing water.
mav1c 03-17-2005 08:40 PM

That Maseratti is sweet!

too much water? does not compute.

jslegacy 03-17-2005 10:41 PM

Myles - I am actually glad there isnt a "pink pony" here and in fact if i go to a race again i wont do any partying unless i get all the work done. I have been up every day at 645 and go to bed around 2 am, so not much time for that.

John- the rain did suck, in the morning in the media center there are 3 or 4 photographers from England and we were joking with them they must feel like they are at home. They were the one of the only few out in the morning session taking shot, which I sorely regret.

We just got back to the hotel from the night practice and have many hours of editing photos. If i find some you guys might like i will try and post them. Tomorrow i am helping mopho with a photo shoot so i will be dead tired again tomorrow.
