Prosport gauge won't sweep part 1

dyingsubconscious 07-04-2006 06:19 PM

Prosport gauge won't sweep
i just got my prosport boost gauge and as far as i know i was all hooked up correctly but it won't sweep and it's making me crazy so yeah i need help.
Master2192 07-04-2006 06:27 PM

I had never heard of that brand until you mentioned it, and I did a search.

They do not have an electronic boost gauge. A Mechanical one will not do the sweeping motion because it does not have a stepper motor or electronics to control one.
dyingsubconscious 07-04-2006 06:33 PM

hmmm well then the box and site lied damn them i was all happy to have that. i didnt realize that i just saw that it said it did the sweep but i gues it didnt aply to all the gauges. thanks
veightkiller 07-04-2006 08:12 PM

can you post a link or pictures of this guage.i just want to see what they look like

those gauge looks nice and price is cheap.how do they perform though??

master thanks for the link

The gauges are advertised as having 270 degree sweep. This means the numbers covered by the needle are spread out across 270 of the 360 degrees that make up the gauge face. This does not mean that it "sweeps" on startup. :p But the 270 degree sweep is good. I wouldn't get a guage with less. Not even sure that anybody makes a gauge with less now.
dyingsubconscious 07-04-2006 10:14 PM

but the gauges also say that the have the opening ceremony meaning that they sweep on start but i realized that it only aplys to the electronic gauges, also they work perfect i havnt had any problems with the readings. im one hunded percent happy and for the price you cant get better. i got mine at www.fastwrx.com this kinda sounds like a ad now......... fade out

I just installed mine recently too and it does suck the boost is the only one that doesn't sweep.
Italianjankz 07-05-2006 01:20 PM

I installed mine about a month or two ago. Havent really had any problems so far and as far as i know, they are fairly accurate. The only thing i dont like about them is that the readings are really hard to makeout during the day, but at night they look awesome.

Hey guys...

Glenn here from Prosport Gauges. I am sorry to hear that our website was not clear enough about the LACK of opening ceremony on the Mechanicall boost gauges. The good news is we just came out with a ELECTRIC Boost gauge which as Master2192 pointed out is powered by an electronics stepper motor and will perform the self check pointer sweep on start-up. Right now it is only available in Amber/White.

As far as accuracy goes, we just sent our boost gauges to an independent company out of state that does not even carry our gauge line for testing.. and the results were surprising (even to us). We will be posting them on our website shortly. Just getting all the pictures and details worked up. When tested on the dyno the gauges were 100% accurate up to 25psi. This same company -IA Performance- also tested Greddy & Defi Boost gauges. Well, you'll have to wait for the results to be posted on our website, but lets just say they were not 100% accurate.

Let me know if anyone has any questions or needs any help -

Best Regards,
Glenn

I have these gauges... great price and looks. I've had these since April and have had no issues. Recently replaced my mechanical boost gauge for the new electrical version. All gauges sweep now. I have Boost, Oil Pressure, and EGT.

I have mine setup for White during the day and Amber for night. My EGT is pegged because I don't have the sensor hooked up yet.

nice!
nixgame22 08-28-2006 01:06 AM

I've had mine for a few months now. I love it, and you can't beat the price. honestly, what was most impressive, was the service. Shipping was super quick. I even got an email asking if i'd received it, and how the install went. +1 for these gauges. I purchased mine right off of the site.

now if somebody could figure out an easy way to dim the night time green lights I'll be a happy camper.
ravi 11-16-2006 08:27 PM

great for the money, but not readable in the daytime whatsoever. I even have the hoods on them
bikefreax 11-16-2006 08:43 PM

So did you splice into the regular lighting wires and if so why would that not make them dim?
bikefreax 11-16-2006 08:44 PM
great for the money, but not readable in the daytime whatsoever. I even have the hoods on them
They lifgt up white in the daytime correct? I am not sure why they would be so hard to read in the daylight. Where is yours mounted?
So did you splice into the regular lighting wires and if so why would that not make them dim?
it's just too bright comparing to the rest of the lights from the stock cluster... even if i can get it to work with the stock brightness control dial, it would still be significantly brighter than the rest when i dim everything?
RoninBlackSoul 11-17-2006 01:17 AM
