isnt that just the wrc wide body?
| ptech | 08-04-2003 08:11 PM |
Yes that is the WRC widebody kit that is made by GimmieGears here in California. The question is how many cars that are not rally car have it?????? Also, it is my daily driver.

Something about the front badge just doesn't sit with me.
Sorry, rest of it looks good but the front emblem placing just isn't my cup of tea.

yeah, the front bumper is ugly
| PPower | 08-04-2003 08:52 PM |
I like it, but I also think the front bumper is a bit odd. I can deal with the emblem, but that little spot in front of the front tires looks like it would break just by looking at it.
I wonder if they would/could do that to a wagon. :disco:

The front grill looks like ass, otherwise, it's pretty cool. Some STi sideskirts would look good, and make the rear fender not cut back into the body so bad. The more WRC like, the better.

how wide of a wheel/tire can you fit under those?
thanks,

To answer some questions, there are now side skirts on it. Also, the widest rim that we could fit on there is a 20 x 9 1/2. As for a wagon, yes Robert at Gimmie Gears can retro fit a kit for it. When I gat a chance I will post some better pics. That happens to be the one that Ichibahnpicked to use but it is not my favorite.
| hyp36rmax | 08-05-2003 03:10 PM |
is this the same car that was at RIM2003 gimmie gears tent? if so you had black rims yes? ive got tons of pictures of that car, i agree the grill and front bumper are not all that great, but there was a genuine 2002 wrc bumper from monte carlo that was on sale from primitive that would be a nice addititoin to the fenders.
| djerickd | 08-05-2003 03:16 PM |
Got any more pics from that shoot? (with the model  )
| PPower | 08-05-2003 03:35 PM |
I'll just be waiting to see somebody make a kit for the new style like this one:

Maybe GimmieGears will be that. So what kind of wheels are those and what is the width/tire size? i've wondered about what the offset would be on wheels like that.

That looks pretty sharp

Holy crap that white one is awesome
| ha-evolution | 08-05-2003 05:27 PM |
Those headlight covers on the white car are sick (not in a good way).
| PPower | 08-05-2003 06:28 PM |
ptech, do you have a problem with throwing debris from the arch angling back towards the car. I just noticed that they are like Conebasher in that way that which saves from having to get a different rear bumper and side skirts, but it seems like it leaves a big patch of tire open to throw stuff onto the car and chip that oh-so-thick Subaru paint.
| fookiethedookie | 08-05-2003 10:20 PM |
that white wrx looks simply amazing:eek:
| ptech | 08-05-2003 10:51 PM |
Yes the white car is sick!!!!!!!!!!! To answer a question about the tire rubber, I have yet to notice anything to bad with rubber flying on the body or chipping. But remember the car only has 7000 miles on it and only 400 since all of the work was done. Also, I dont have factory paint on the car it was originally silver. And to answer one other question, yes it was in Gimmie Gears booth at RIM, but it was not finished and it did have 19" black wheels.
| ptech | 08-05-2003 11:00 PM |
If someone can find me a better front end, I would not be opposed to looking at it. I am always ready to make the car look better...

wide body

Let me take it in the dirt!!!!!!!!!I am very impressed!!
| PPower | 08-06-2003 02:43 AM |
This is the only other widebody kit that I am currently aware of. The front looks a tad better, but the fenders on yours is better. The holes on the bumper are smaller, and it has a lip on the bottom. Since these are widebody kits, you wouldn't be able to know if the different bumper would line up properly with your fenders. just stick with what you've got to be safest. Anyway, since you mentioned looking at others: www.subarugiken.com

I think you're wrong. The photo shows only the front fenders being wider. The pieces that are now made for the rear look aweful because they just stick on top of the rest of the fender. I can't find the pic right now, so maybe I'm thinking of a different company. You can see in the first picture that the flare is bigger than stock.

its not a wide body, the kit is just the bumper with foglight covers, and the flares look the same to me as stock in that pic
| PPower | 08-06-2003 09:51 AM |
OK, I thought you were wrong, but I was. My bad. Who is it that also makes a WRC widebody? I'll search around and find it because now it's just going to bug me.

That white one looks awesome.
| widesuby | 08-06-2003 04:13 PM |
The giken is not a widebody for sure and that is the same exact bumber that I have except it is not as wide..... It is the grill that is molded that looks funny I think....
| blaznasn | 08-06-2003 04:49 PM |
aqua makes sort of a widebody, its not wrc though, this is the only wrc widebody ive seen so far.

Couple of questions for you ptech:
1) Which rear spoiler is that?

Just kidding on #2. Car looks great to me, very unique. Scott

Ptech, what's the tire size ?. Any rub ?.
| ptech | 08-07-2003 01:18 PM |
The rear spoiler is also made by Gimmie Gears and to answer the tire size question they are Toyo 245/35/20.

So ptech, what's the size & offset on those wheels and who makes them? The 20's don't look as outrageous as the AXIS 19's I've seen. It looks great. not a neon fan, though. sorry.

Ptech, do you have any pics of the car when it had 19's ?
| ptech | 08-07-2003 04:07 PM |
No pics with the nineteens on it, also I agree with the neons comment but Ichibahn sells them and I had to have them on for the photo shoot. The wheels are 20x9.5 and I am not sure of the offset. I took the car over to Boyd Coddingtons Garage and then three days later I had wheels. I did not ask about the offset but I will. Give me a day or so for an answer.
| djerickd | 08-07-2003 04:15 PM |
so those are one-off Boyds Rims for wide body subies?
| PPower | 08-07-2003 04:29 PM |
Boyd's? SWEET! I always wondered when they would start making some wheels for more of the euro/sports cars. The spokes look similar to Fikse FM-10 but with a flat center cap. With a 9.5" wheel, there's room for a lot more meat. You ought to put a post up in the wheel/tire forum to show them once you get the specs.
