you understood what i ment to say english is not my first not my second language so sorry for my spelling.

In america you tend to make a big big show out of everything that realy bothers me. And it is funny how the sport got popular in america whit only two drivers promoteing it then the X games than the FHM. Now they only have to make a movie out of it and we will have the fast end furious sindrom all over again. I enyoy working an watching rally because the feeling is completly difrent that at a football match (there are few drunk retards watching rally) and whit popularizatoion of the sport these retards will come to rally to.
XenoWolf 12-12-2006 12:48 PM

I hate when rally is refered to as 'new'. Just because you've been ignorant of it's existance for decades doesn't mean that it's suddenly appeared.

mesa50w 12-12-2006 12:56 PM

Well ANY press is good for the sport here in the states. I just want it back on TV and any press will help.

In standard Nasioc fashion ...... the pissing contest starts NOW

Honestly, not all of us yanks are as bad as that article. Just a few, but they've usually got money and media outlets.

+1 Im over hearing about this "new sport that knowbody knows about"

It was annoying how in the x-games they would explain the most obvious things so the announcers could try and pretend that they knew what they were talking about. Although, I can see why they have to in order to turn people on to the sport.

MFR Sweep 12-12-2006 01:29 PM

This is just the kind of assinine advertising that Rally DOSEN'T need. It is going to turn this sport into another NASCAR. every stage is going to be like XGames stadium stage. Jumping through fiery hoops suspended over helicopters.

I think a super special stage is great and all. But there is something about being out in the middle of nowhere sitting on a rock watching your favorite driver fly by.

I haven't doen that in years. but I have gotten closer with the teams and I still have a blast at every event.

I can just seen now.... a bunch of douche bag rich americans with friggen RV's and a fricken production of BS on the side of Ouninpohja. with trophy wives bitching and walking in the middle of the stage in Stilleto's with their freaking dogs in stupid purses..

freaking /me if that ever happens....

And please that x games SS was a sorry example of showing what is rally.

This is a video from Slovenia a country with 2.000.000 people and this is one of this years rallies the opening SS (the fun starts at 2.30)

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4064645853321711275&q=rally+maribor

and filmed by a fan not a pro team.

And a taste from my Home town ( half of great drivers arent filmed) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1367964966020303868&q=zasavje
WRXedUSA 12-12-2006 01:34 PM

Rally is new to most people.
Snowflake! 12-12-2006 01:39 PM
Rally is new to most people.
So is common sense and original thought.

Hence magazines like FHM.
bjorn240 12-12-2006 01:39 PM

Meh, tempest in a teapot. Press like this is good for the sport; of the people who read it, 20% will say, "Oh, that seems cool." and 1% of those will go to STPR next year, or some such. And 1% of those will build cars for 2008.

Seriously, how did all of you find out about rally? Oh, you were conceived in a Lancia 037? It's fun to rock the "I be old-skool" attitude, but it's better to introduce people to the sport and make them aware of all the more subtle and interesting aspects. If an article in a men's magazine puts people down that path, all the better.

Besides, we need more people who hate SupeRally.

runnah 12-12-2006 01:42 PM

Meh I'm not worried. Its like the whole "EXTREME" sports wave. Sports that were popular by a select "hardcore" group, get very popular with the media.

Eventually people get sick of the oversaturation of the sports and intrest wains. The "hardcores" still continue doing the sport, same as before.

Not to say that nothing good comes of this. Every town now has a skatepark, generations of kids now enjoy these sports. Products are more readily available, cheaper and stronger.

Rallying won't follow the same path due to the differences in the sports but I am sure some parallels will be drawn. Such as more events and participation.

There you go. I know three things about Slovenia - 1) The capital is Ljubljana and 2) They make Elan skis. 3) If you go southeast from Austria, there you are.

I was about to mention skis, but they are also the first republic to leave Jugoslavia and do it without a lot of fightinng. If I remember they were also part of the Austrian side of the Habsburg Empire, which is why they are a lot more stable than all the other parts of Jugoslavia that were screwed up by Magyarization or the Turks.
