Nice- very NASA-ish. :)
It would be even cooler if you did before and after temp readings! (Prolly too late now..)
Looks good,

i would love to do my intercooler piping for style/function
how much do you guys think you would need to wrap the visible area of the Turbo XS charge pipes? 4 feet? (once it goes into the fender i dont think wrapping is necessary)

| bostonride | 02-23-2007 02:13 PM |
Ceramic coating would be more useful for exhaust and intake piping. The K+N cold air cover would be a good place to use it.

I've used the Thermo-tec adhesive backed stuff for several projects (including the oe heat sheid) w/ good luck. It's not gold though :)
About $10 for a square foot, less if you buy larger sheets

Thanks for the tips bro. I had my buddy cad-2 plate my heatshield before I applied the gold foil. Prolly would have come out better if I took the time to apply the foil perfectly, but I am happy with the results....

Here is my heatsheild.

The heatsheild on the gen 1 Turbo Legacy's is more effective than the wrx sheilds, as it is actually a chiminey which gathers the affected air, keeps it away from the surrounding area and lets it escape out the hood scoop.
The gold does work very well. I have touched the outside of the sheild fairly soon after driving... and Never would have been able to prior to the foil application.
I bought mine from Enjukiracing (or somehting like that) - 2 linear feet for $39 (free shipping)
I also applied it to the charge pipe that runs next to the turbo/heatsheild - and throw some more on the resonator (because I had more left)...

I still have a few small pieces that I'll throw on something, someday

I know this thread is old...But I'm thinking about trying to do my intercoooler charge pipe, Anyone thats done it have some tips....How much would I need to do the exposed pipes, I see its good for 850 degrees so thats should be fine for intercooler pipe correct?
Tips are welcome....

more than sufficient for the i/c pipes. i also was thinking of doing this to my piping. i always liked how it looked on scby wrx's ride on the back bumper and underneath the hood.
