Good Tip for cleaning interior.

I do believe I have found the best method for cleaning non-cloth panels of your impreza interior.
Windex + Microfiber Cloth.
That's right, Windex. Your car interior is not a kitchen or bathroom, and does not need a harsh cleaner like the ones you find in, say, a supermarket or autoparts store. Windex will do just fine on those vynils and plastics, and it of course cleans the glass.
And using a microfiber cloth (as opposed to, say, a paper towel) will help ensure you wont get any of those fuzzies all over the windows...
i know this may seem somewhat obvious, but It could definitely stand to save everyone some money... I now see NO point in buying 17 different kinds of interior cleaners, plus armor all, to clean your car.
At least i HOPE you don't cook or excrete waste in your impreza... :lol:

Thank you very much... gonna have to try that soon.

Windex contains ammonia which is harsh. Also, I would never dream of using Armor-All on my interior.
I have a cheaper solution...... water. For everyday cleaning, H2O works just fine. Simply dampen a your microfiber towel and wipe away. ....as for protectants, I've used 303 with good results.
EDIT: I forgot.... A good non-ammonia glass cleaner that I've used for years is Sprayway. Safe for tint and leaves a nice, clean scent. :)

It's not just about cleaning, it's about protection. Nothing beats 303 Aerospace Protectant, especially from a cost/performance standpoint. Cleans great, doesn't leave a greasy shine like Armor-All, has UV protection, conditions plastics and prevents fading/cracking. Smells kinda nice too :banana:

+1 for 303.
using Windex on the interior vinyl is not recommended b/c of the ammonia.

Warm soapy water and a microfiber will do a good job cleaning pretty much anything in your car.

I'll have to try that 303 stuff...
I HATE armor all for the interior. If you put it on the steering wheel, it's like driving with a big ball of grease in your hands...
Armor all products are pretty decent on tires, but that's about it so it seems.

Put another check next to water.
I use a simple combination of distilled water and a microfiber cloth.
Armor-All is in no way bad for the interior, it's just that a lot of people, including myself, don't like the greasy look it leaves behind. Using distilled water cleans good and leaves no residue or smears. :D

Anyhow, I'm assuming they formulated it without ammonia or harsh chemicals.

Regardless, I personally don't use it for reasons such as "antidote" mentioned. .....it's greasy, attracts dust, and I hate the shine. 303 on the other hand (if used per the directions) leaves a nice, dull finish and (supposedly) protects quite well.

I think I might check out the 303 and see how that works.
Maybe even do a mixture of 3:1 Distilled water and 303.

I used Armor All once, and never again. About 4-5 years ago on my '91 Nissan NX-2000 I put some on my dash to give it that "like new shine" but a day later a huge crack ran vertically across the center of my dash. Now I use only Meguiar's products. For the interior, Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Protectant with UVA/UVB inhibitors for fading/cracking protection.

I really don't know what to say to you...
Maybe you should try going to home depot and find some acidic fluid and pour it over your dash and see if it cracks it, if not maybe it really isn't armor-all. By no means I wish to defend that product, but saying it cracks your dash by that one application is just XXX <-- insert your choice of word here.

I've been using the Meguire's Gold Class Protectant Wipes.

They're great at keeping dust and other crap off your dash and other places that grime tends to collect. I would never even think twice about using ANY Armor-All products. Come on, its the 22nd century right??!

Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer spray rocks. Leaves a nice finish, has a little more cleaning ability than soapy water, is easy to "apply" and remove and smells great. Also works well on clear plastic, video screens, etc.
ArmorAll is very similar today in formulation to 303. AT ONE TIME it was harmful (but by no means a 1-2 day problem - there had to have been something else that caused that crack, perhaps IN CONJUNCTION with AA, but maybe any product would have caused it at that point in a 15 year old car).
Do a little google search. The whole silicone suspension thing has been discussed to death, mainly in reference to tire treatments.
I think those protectant wipes are fine for cleaning up, but if it's just dust? Use a static-charged microfiber cloth. I keep one in the console just for dusting. Works great.
Leave the windex for the window (or use Stoner's Invisible Glass for better results and tint-compatibility).

Well, I use a 50/50 solution of granulated animal feces and diluted vaginal discharge and it works great on any surface in my car. J/K
Anyways. Gotta try that 303 stuff though. For some time now I have been using the armor all wipes that don't leave that greasy shine (the ones that just clean, dry and degrease) but it attracts dust somehow.

I use 303 Protectant on my interior. Works great! Leaves a non-greasy, matte finish and makes the car look like it was off the showroom floor.
Why in hell you would use windex on your vinyl is beyond me. :confused: :huh: It contains amonia and other "harsh" chemicals that will dry out and crack your vinyl over time.

Aromor-All also cuts down on the outgassing of the plastic. If you have problems with your windshield (or other windows) having this foggy kind of film on the inside. Use a good cleaner and liberal amounts of Armor All (and clean your windows of course) and the foggy film will be gone. Personally I don't like the shine either, but it dulls in a week of so and continues to protect. I believe it also says NOT to put it on the steering wheel, e-brake or pedals. I would hope you'd only make that mistake once, duh.

You want to use a WATER based prep! Such as 303aerospace protectant or vinylex. Plus, if you get a WATER based prep on your seats/fabric door cards, you can clean it with WATER/steamer if ever needed. All the other (99.9%) brands have petro bases, which is why they are greasy/gunky (albeit very shiny) !!!
Stoner's invisible glass cleaner rocks.
I personally like vinylex b/c it has a matte gloss, if you get it on glass/plastic consoles, it comes off very easy.
Dont forget fabric protectants/UV blockers for your seats !!! They work
(303 high tech fabric care).
As far as micorfiber, wash the cloths together, dry together. I use a lot of fabric softener when washing them, few sheets of fabric softener sheets in dryer too. Make sure they are fully dry. Always then fully shake them out before using to get extra lint out. then you'll be sure to not have a speck of dust in your ride after you treat the trim. PS - vacuum the dust prone areas (center console/shifter area, vents, dash) with a brush attachment first, so that stuff doesnt dirty-up your rag real quick and track onto other areas.

Fabric softner on your towels is a BAD idea. Especially if you used them to dry your car. Those softeners contain chemicals and if you use the powdered type it will leave traces in the towel that can scratch the living hell out of your paint.

Yeah, what he said. Fabric softeners are a big no-no. I think Sonus makes Wunder-Wash or something of that nature specifically designed for washing MF towels. I've heard good things but have yet to try it.

umm = not a word.
thanx = correct spelling: thanks.
anomnia = correct spelling: ammonia.
fum = correct spelling: fun
Not to mention, this is a run-on sentence that should perhaps be separated into three or four sentences.
I have a personal standard of not taking advice from people who can't pass second-grade English.
umm = not a word.
thanx = correct spelling: thanks.
anomnia = correct spelling: ammonia.
