That logo for the event rocks.

Hopefully one of the locals will keep y'all updated. Right now, I'm not sure what I'll be driving. Matteucci and Ramey decided to run SM because there weren't enough victims in DSP, which means I got the boot from the car. Of course, Brian doesn't tell me this until friggin' yesterday, and tries to placate me by saying that I can run John Scheier's M3 in SM (it's actually a BSP car).... uh, yeah. Sure. Whatever.

I'll see if I can't find something that's more my style. :p FS, here I come!!

Karen
jmott 03-31-2005 11:27 AM

It wouldn't have mattered anyway Karen. I just got my carbon fiber shift knob installed, so SM is a lock for me at this point.

:)

 Oh, and what's this I hear about you pumping Beaker for info last night? Afraid of a little girl running SM open class? ;)

did frank tell you the last time i drove with matteucci, i finished 0.032 behind him?

Karen
TyrannoSullyRex 03-31-2005 11:33 AM

You can't switch to DSP, Karen?

I was likely my fault (and Jack's) we switched to SM for contingency payout, when DSP went to four people the potential contingency payout (for both Ramey and Teucci) dropped $200.

If you switch to DSP, Jack and I will switch back to DSP, to get the contingency back up.

Oh, and I'm laughing about the beaker thing.
jmott 03-31-2005 11:34 AM

I'm not the one running away to some FS car ;)

Aw, c'mon, Jack! You should know me well enough that I only drive the creme de la creme! If I don't think I can win with it.... it's not worth driving!

Oh. Wait. I did drive Mason Melkowits's Mustang in ESP last year, didn't I? Hm.

:D ;)

Karen
jmott 03-31-2005 11:58 AM

Well join us in DSP then =)

I like the DSP run/work order better, work 1, run 2. SM sucks, Run 1, Work 4.
Registration should prove interesting.
in the end though, the manuevering is all in vain

carbon fiber shift knob!!!!
ratt_finkel 03-31-2005 02:25 PM

I'll see ya'll there!
KC 03-31-2005 02:30 PM
Registration should prove interesting.
I did registration at SanDiego....

The biggest hold up was people switching from Hoosier to Kumho on their reg forms... there were some class switches, and then that just changes your work assignment.
CamaroFS34 04-04-2005 01:47 AM

Well, the manuevering was fast and furious on Saturday morning, but it ended up Ramey in SM and Brian in DSP, along with Jack, Brian, Karter and Richard. I stayed in SM, driving John Scheier's BSP bitch, a lightly prepped silver M3.

I drove like complete ass on Saturday, but I pulled my head out enough on Sunday to challenge John's times, and even look halfway respectable! :) I got 4th and final trophy in SM, behind John. Eric Hyman was second and Ramey won, by a mile. Jack was leading DSP on Saturday, but fell to Matteucci's "sawzall special," but just barely.

Other notable Subaru performances -- Alex Ponce de Leon taking STU and Todd Milstead in the yella WRX taking the STX win. I took some pics... I might have time to post them Monday.

It was fun and good to see my Texas friends again. :)

 Well, I'm happy to report that I was present when he dropped the car off at Richard Tomlin's shop yesterday afternoon. It should have fenders in time for the Atlanta Pro! :)

Karen
KC 04-04-2005 10:14 AM

I heard the RX8s fared pretty well in BS. :)
jmott 04-04-2005 10:33 AM

Why is it that when a CP car has chopped up fenders it is "RAD!!!!" but if a DSP car chops them up it is a big joke?

lol

I'm pretty sure DSP was faster too!

I guess you only get noticed when you win :) There was a nice battle in AS as I was leading on Saturday and came out on the loosing end on Sunday placing 2nd.

It was nice meeting Alex David and now I know who you are Karen. The lady with a Subaru hat who drove the silver M3.

I had a great time.

Rafal
afpdl 04-04-2005 12:35 PM

Nice meeting you too Rafal. Now can someone tell me what the red FP car had against subaru drivers?

:o Sorry, Rafal... I hadn't met you before, so it actually had nothing to do with winning or not... :(

And owns two Camaros. ;)

Karen
boxerT 04-04-2005 12:55 PM

Sorry Kent, didn't mean to leave you out of the names of Subaru drivers I have met for the first time.

Since this was my first National Tour in 4 years, the whole thing was somewhat overwhelming to me.

Karen, good luck in Atlanta in the ESP monster.

I'm not sure I'd go that far. The fastest combined time in the car (Ramey at 98.289) was still almost a full second slower than Strelnieks, who was running on 2nd gear only with a busted tranny...
afpdl 04-04-2005 02:57 PM

The car was on dead 710s though, they still had tread but were getting hard. Around 100 runs I believe.

When I looked at the results I said "Strelnieks only by 2.5 secs? I wonder if something is wrong with the new Hoosier". I guess this explains it

-Tom
jmott 04-04-2005 03:18 PM

The first day was not a power friendly course. I was only a couple tenths shy of streilnicks with more weight and less tire than teucci/ramey in my 4 door. (top pax on the first day of the event!! woo!)

2nd day was a litte more power friendly. but it is true, ramey and teucci were working with dead 710s. They were quicker than streilnicks at the arkansas tour.

Thanks Jeff, I still have some work to do to catch, and hopefully beat Mr. Mini though ;)
KoneKiller 04-04-2005 06:39 PM

On my first run on Saturday, I missed the brake pedal. I mean missed it. Completely. My foot went between the gas and brake. I couldn't get my mind off of that the rest of the weekend.

I think there may be a problem with me driving the Subie so rarely (Diane only let's me drive it at AX's, the rest of the time it's HERS). I have much more time in the Spec Miata than the Subie recently and the pedals are much closer in the SM. :furious:
