Quality write-up. I missed it the first time around, so I'm glad that someone bumped it from near-oblivion!

Congrats on a great run. Good luck with your next one, either in 04 or later.

Luke,

I know this happened a while ago, but I just stumbled upon it tonight. Congrats on a great job! Hope you can find a way to continue competing.

For the West Coasters out there, there is a similar event called the Open Track Challenge. You can check it out here.

I know, I know... I'm bringing back an old thread...

Luke,

I stumbled back over to nasioc to search for any info into your unfortunate agricultural excursion a few days ago. Then I ran across your great story from '03. Good stuff.

Anyhow, I was just wondering what your total track experience was before starting the event in '03. I think I just might make it out there in '06/'07....

This was a great story. What you might want to try is searching under his name for another thread that somebody started, something like "pics / results of OLA" (minus the pics and results cause it's not over yet!)

I'm sure he's not in a position to answer general questions right now, but check out that thread as he's probably more likely to see it after the event is complete. :)

thanks for the comments. before the '03 event, it was pretty much a couple autocrosses and 2 maybe 3 track days - that's it. probably about 1/3 of the people there are in a similar situation. 1/3 has done it a bunch of times and are OK w/ their mid-pack finishes. the other 1/3 thinks they're going to tear it up.
