As you may or maynot have noticed....did a little reorganization of the Stickies...
-Important Threads of note are in the Sticky thread of the particular type of motorsport..
-feedback is welcome:D
-Hopefully this will eliminate some of the clutter and help everyone find the important threads they were looking for
We are awaiting a redo in motorsports that will be more user friendly.....

Ok, call me a pedant, which is a given decided what I do for a living, but shouldn't we spell it "amateur?"
And I think a sticky for the current WRC and Rally-America event is definitely in order.

I like the reorg, but if things are going to be in that format, can we be done with the silly names and just have the name/year/dates of the event so you can look through the super-sticky and find what you're looking for easily.

Keeping something that is constantly posted on a sticky is a waste of a sticky. It will always be at the top of the forum.

Yes....they are Threads of interest ....and I will be maintaining them...see..this way...you can find that "important" thread quickly....than to try and search...and it cleans up the sticky part of the forum...

I like the way you think. Wading through 7-10 stickies to get to the forum is obnoxious. Much better to have 3-4 "threads of interest" stickies.
Even better would be autox, rally, and road racing subforums.

I liked the WRC thread as it's own sticky. If people don't see the thread about the current WRC event the instant they hit the forum they will go and post their own spoiler thread... people are lazy!

Yeah, sorry if I was unclear - I agree with Alex (#187). I would prefer that each WRC and RA event have it's own sticky. There would never be more than 2, so that seems ok from a user interface perspective. It could be unstickied at 1900 GMT on the Sunday of the event.

Did Scooby South consult anyone before making his changes? or did he just do it?
I've always found the rally stickies to be quite popular, and useful in preventing spoiler threads.

Never ending quest to have the forums more organized...or did you forget that objective...

I would just let 'Motorsports' handle it all, the rest at the bottom that's not in the 4 sub-categories.
Like regular local forums where you have The Vendor and Private Classifieds in them... the rest/overflow will just be under those.

The worse thing ever is spoilers! Especially when you have to DL Eurosport footy and you are trying to avoid crash.net and wrc.com and you end up reading the rally thread. Sticking both RA and WRC separately would be awesome. We should almost have individual forums for rally, open wheel, sports car ect. within motorsport depending on how hardcore people are. I know I am :lol: .

That would be cool. I usually just use the user control panel to do most of my surfing on the board. I think we are going to be getting a total re-org of the Motorsports forum.

So let's get this straight...
From the Main Forum Listing, there's going to be three categories now?
I have a problem with having *MOTORSPORTS* and *GENERAL MOTORSPORTS Non-SUBARU* being at the top level.
It's utterly confusing. Especially with "General discussion about Subaru Motorsports and [B]Motorsports in General.[/B]" being used to describe *MOTORSPORTS* When there's a category for GENERAL MOTORSPORTS.
I thought most of us decided that there wasn't going to be a separate SUBARU specific forum? Then why goes GENERALMOTORSPORTS state: "Discussion about [B]Non Subaru Motorsports[/B] including F1, Cart, NASCAR, etc.
[B]non Subaru Motorsport content. etc...[/B]"
I really don't agree with the new layout, as I said before, it's utterly and completely confusing adding 3 new top-level forums (if I'm reading the above correctly.)
I still think there should still only be 1 main level 'Motorsports' top level forum link. Inside there will be the links for Auto-x/Rally/HPDE/For Sale forums. The rest of the NASCAR, INDY, etc... can be the rest of the forum threads from the top level "Motorsports". I.e.: general motorsports discussion not related to the specific subforums forums listed above.

Every thread will be sorted..the Motorsports entry just gets you in the door...then you will go to the respective forum...all thread will be sorted...so it will be clean upon entry...
you enter motorsports.....click on respective forum.....?????? pRoFit...
There will be NO threads upon Entry in the Motorsports forum...only under the Sub sections...:)

I'm still hung up on having General Motorsports stating 'non-subaru'. By default, that makes 'Motorsports' Subaru Specific (Which the majority said having a Subaru Specific forum was a bad idea).
By just looking at the top three links above in the 'Main' listing (without having to open up the sub-forums), Where would I put a question about 'NASA'?
Right now, in General Motorsports... because it isn't a question relating to Subarus.... and NASA isn't Subaru Specific.
Or better yet, the WRC? Rally America? SCCA? Those are not Subaru Specific organizations either.... at 1st glance, to a n00b, General Motorsports is the perfect Fit. You're creating more of a headache for the mods to move threads, by hiding Auto-x/rally/etc... as the n00bs post in the wrong section.
I guess my point is.... I see no reason to 'hide' auto-x/rally/etc... Putting them all on the same level, IMHO, would alleviate much confusion.
One link from the Top Level 'Motorsports' and all the other sub-forums on the same level makes navigation much, much easier.
(And fix the spelling error in Rally/Rally-X (It's sanctioning)) ;)
Oh, one more edit.... Add another sub-forum for 'Videos' in each of the auto-x/rally/hpde forums... trust me. :)

the motorsports forum isn't busy enough to warrant all the subforums within it. Right now I can be gone for 2 days and still have maybe 1.5 to 2 pages of topics to go through. With this new subforum setup I'll have to go through 5 forums to do the same thing.

When did the existing sandbox get to be too small?
I understand the logic of every group having their own (and it would be a lot more work for you moderators) but when did the groups stop playing nicey nice with each other in the forum that exists already. Under that logic you should divide the RMIC into two sections since there is virtually no overlap between the UT people and the CO people for instance...
we just keep it like it is for the time being...

I'm fine with this!! That's what I was talking about. Perfect, IMHO. With the way the visual indentation was displayed, it gave a different meaning. With all the sub forums on the same level, works.
With the exception of misc motorsports now... that new addition/change. Auto-x has different requirements than HPDE and rally, etc... they don't cross. Also, sanctioning bodies would be in the respective sub-forum.. why did you go change that?

Don't get discouraged... Everyone is always resistant to change... unless they are in a vocal minority.
