My light bar is complete
Well here it is, all finished, with the lights mounted. Took me long enough, but i think it was well worth it. I think it looks awesome, and i hope you all think so too. Right now i only have some crappy night pictures, ill get some better ones with more detail eventually.

Well here it is, tell me what you think!

Dforce 11-27-2006 11:06 PM

whats the setup consist of?
quadturbowrxgtr-s 11-27-2006 11:13 PM

can you see me now?......:p
fattie92 11-27-2006 11:18 PM

The bar itself is mostly 3/4" square stock that can be found at your local hardware store. Some 1.5" flat stock, and 3/4" flat stock. Total cost of materials was 50 bucks. Paint is Black G.G.U (Grit, Gravel, Under Body) that i got from our body shop at work.

The lights are 100W Hella Rallye 3000's wired with all 14g wire to a 30A relay and 25A fuse. The switch is a OEM fog light switch. Looking at getting some better 130W bulbs.
Dforce 11-27-2006 11:21 PM

jtanoyo1 11-28-2006 01:43 AM

So do you go on night time safari or off-roading in the jungle often? I don't see why you'd need those unless you join a lot of rallies...?
IniTiaLScooby 11-28-2006 01:54 AM
Functionality= +1

Just curious why you give it a -1 for appearance? Just because the lights are so big?

I PLANNED on 4 6in lights, but i came across these Hella's for a good deal, so i got them. These are HUGE at 8 3/4" diameter, i know that they are big, but they are growing on me. Maybe ill get rid of them for some 6in lights, i dont know yet. I will be putting on some Hella 500 fogs to go with it after christmas.
So do you go on night time safari or off-roading in the jungle often? I don't see why you'd need those unless you join a lot of rallies...?
I don't really need them. It was just the deal that i came across so i snatched them. Besides rallyX, i also do a lot of traveling. Around here, there are a whole heck of a lot of deer. And when i go camping, its usually in the sticks, so this will help see the deer, and the non existent street signs better.. At least thats what i tell myself.
Wow. Have a picture of the output against a wall?
No i don't. I just finished the bar last night and got it installed. I will do it tomorrow at work if you'd like. I still need to aim them. What are your requirements? Distance?
jtanoyo1 11-28-2006 10:01 AM

Ok rallyx, camping and deer. I can dig that. :)
drf 11-28-2006 07:30 PM

Very nicely done. Congrats.
sixtsix 11-28-2006 08:21 PM

Would like to see some daytime pics, and info on mounting points ect.

Daytime pics are still to come. By the time i get off work, its dark. Tomorrow i am putting on my winter tires, so i can snap a few pics when i have it on my rack, otherwise its gotta wait till the weekend.

As for mounting points, its bolted through the core support with 2 bolts. Then there are 2 tabs coming down from the top bar that are screwed in with my license plate screws. One of my goals was to be able to put it on and take it off without a fuss. All i need is a 13mm wrench, a 13mm socket, a philips screwdriver and about one minute of my time. The lights are simply plug and play under the hood with my custom wire harness.

I need to get some of them Hella Light Locks.....

fastwrx25 11-29-2006 08:24 AM

ps rallylights has the ff1000 for 90+sh so cheap!! I am considering getting some.
fattie92 11-29-2006 09:43 AM

^^^ I just dont like how everything comes with 55W bulbs. I want some HIGH POWER bulbs, not the same thing thats in my headlights! That looks like its per light though, i dont see how they can sell 2 for that price. But if they are... let me know, ill buy some!
cpages2 11-29-2006 10:22 AM

Hey man I like it alot.

+1 on the Custom work. I also did mine custom. I am trying to get better light covers though, I really like the ones you have.

Yes, this is the price for the set which includes everything you need: two lights, hella light covers, bulbs, mounting bits and pieces wiring and fuse.

I bought two sets of the FF1000's from them because I only live 20 minutes away lol. Honestly, if I had more places to mount FF1000's I'd probably buy a few more kits cause they're so cheap.

Well here are some more if anyone is interested...

Blurry pic.. But here is the switch (the one on the right)

Here you can see the 2 bolts on the core support. They are the ones on the far right and left with the square washers..

Here is the support arm and the top of the core support..

You can get a good idea of the texture of the paint in this one..

Id like to get some daytime pics.. but its dark when i get out of work. So here are some in the shop..

JiveMasterT 11-30-2006 12:24 AM

Tis looking pretty badass. At first I thought the lights would look retarded but they actually look really good. Nice work for sure.
fattie92 12-03-2006 12:47 PM

Damn Pat... you killed the thread!...Or maybe it was the sticker...hmmm

Well i have used these lights a few times now on some back roads and i must say they really light up the road and tree lines! Screw high beams!

We also just got DUMPED on with snow and the roads are horrible! And I also had a rallyX this weekend. This bar has seen some pretty intense abuse these past few days, and its not showing ANY weaknesses so far. No scratches, dings, cracks.. NOTHING!

For some reason, i keep getting looks from people....Maybe its the huge lights... hahaha.... I love it!
FigNuts 12-03-2006 02:09 PM

That looks great!! I'd like to do that but maybe have a quick release on all the mounting points - maybe not, it'd probably rattle like crazy. Nice job.
smarteex1 12-03-2006 07:28 PM

Looks awesome! You can probably see the future with lights that big.
Ahzlon 12-03-2006 08:40 PM

HAHAH.. i love it man... i have competition now too ... you can never have too many lights
:)
fattie92 12-03-2006 08:44 PM

I didn't go today only the Saturday event. I hope todays event was better.. the track kinda sucked yesterday. As for next weeks event... I am pre-registered to attend, but i don't think ill be going after all. I am not to impressed with Lake Geneva, and the track prep. I was looking at pictures of the last race, and i must say wow... what a dump! I don't enjoy scraping my bumper because of ruts in corners... Ill stick to the Detroit Region RallyX races instead..
allsubaru83 12-04-2006 02:19 AM

man talk about lighting up a dark road... that looks cool..dig it

The course is supposedly different this time around? Yeah, the last course, and the one before that, were supposedly kinda rough around the edges.. ah well, we'll see what Sunday brings.

fattie92 12-04-2006 11:20 PM

Not far at all. This is a old pic from before it was done.

fattie92 12-13-2006 11:36 PM

Thanks for all the comments!

Here is it at work!

I hit the cone just right of the left fog light (you can see the dirt on the car from it)... Just got pushed down and under the car. I don't want to know what would have happened without the bar.. I was at the top of 1st gear when i whacked it.
fattie92 12-13-2006 11:40 PM

Two more just for fun!!
I googled G.G.U. paint and can't find a vendor for it. Is that in a spray can? And who makes it? I need a couple cans of that badly.
The company that makes it is called Winzer (http://www.winzerusa.com/h/showarea.php?sid=28eccb24ade13ad7f06f29307650cfd0&area=0030)

I cant find anything online about it.... Sorry

Its not in a rattle can. Its in a plastic bottle that screws on to this blow gun. There is a long straw that goes in the bottle, then it gets sucked up and blown out. Basicly the same principle as a carburator. Air passes straw, sucks up the paint, and blows it out....Whats that called... Venturie(spelling?) effect?

IF you cant find it let me know.. i can get a price for you and see about mailing some to you... but you will need the spray gun for it.... Or i guess you can hand paint it as well.
