New front bumper design for the 06' STI and REX

Okay I've been noticing a lot of you say how much you love the 06' but hate the front bumper. I have a composites company and a sickness for SUBY so heres the deal! Check out this subtle change to the front bumper and give me your thoughts and I'll run with it!

Looks a lot better. But you should also change the grill, which is what most people have a problem with. Check out the Tommy Kiara new grill for an example of a great one!

please refer to my chop .... it may sound silly, but thats my only hesitation on buying an 06, the front bumper. if someone were to come out with a clean looking replacement, then im all over it. i think the hood should be changed too, i think the bulge they have going up the middle is too narrow. anyways, on to the goodness

^that looks a million times better than the 06s. Lets hope that if they really do a total remake for 07, it will look more like this.
Seriously seeing that picture makes me want an 06, and I hate the way they really look. If only the fog lights on that one were closer to what they are like on the 05 and not so disproportunal looking.

Ahh, I have grown to the 06 front end and I have seen about5-6 designs for new fronts but the only one that even slightly gets my attention is the TK kit, I higly doubt any major remake for 07 since this is just the first production of the front end unless they totally bomb in sales which I doubt.

I hope that the design does go thru and SOA sees this picture and how much we all love it and goes to this. since its not a drastic change on what they have allready made.

If you are changing the whole design of the grill you should make it one big thinner opening that goes all the way between the headlights. Having three seperate openings is probably the main reason the front end looks so strange.
Something like this but straight across the top of the grill and without the RX8 styling for the bottom vents:

Well with the smaller vents it looks more agressive to me, like they are there to cool something, like big power is to be had within.

im feelin that for real. i hate the 06's but that is hot. Only thing is I would want the big hoodscoop back. I kno a lot of people dont like it, but I absolutely love it. Yea its obnoxious (sp?), but i mean seriously shouldnt a car that comes stock w/ 300 HP and runs a 4.78 0-60 time be obnoxious? It's like thats what the STi was made for, to annoy ricers, and tear up the track of course.

If you dont care about looks that much, your just lazy or sloppy. There are plenty of cars that out preform the 06s and look like complete ****, but they are dirt cheap, so should we be driving those instead?

I actually took it from another thread on here.
Tommy Kairas site is pretty hard to navigate because it is in Japanese. I think I spent 20 minutes on it trying to find out what kind of wheels are on the car in the pic and could not find it.

i saw a rumor somewhere on this vast lie filled web that the '07 STi will be back to a two door form, it was a real pic but it caould have easily been made this way with photoshop. anyone know what im talking about and think that a two door would be frickin cool. dont get me wrong, id take a wrx or sti anyday but the four doors just scream family, i prefer the sporty two doors.

right on man. sloppyness is for ricers (cough cough hondas cough cough) just like making your own fog light trim with a roof flashing, but dont say too much about that, some people get bent out of shape on here about opinions

They also said the 04 would come in a 2 door. Some people cant stand not getting attention, so they make up stuff like that. Don't count on it.

The STi hoodscoop is still as big as the one from the 04 and 05 its just shaped the same as the 02-03 Sti hoodscoops, it doesnt lean forward at all.

The STi hoodscoop is still as big as the one from the 04 and 05 its just shaped the same as the 02-03 Sti hoodscoops, it doesnt lean forward at all.

The 06 looks fine the way it is. The whole point of the small middle grill and the wide side grills is to look like an airplane, which is what subaru started out making.

I don't get it why they changed the model in the first place!
I loved the look of the 04's and 05's, and if I ever upgrade to an Sti, I would no doubt pay the same money for a brand new 05 than an 06. The picture of the chopped 06 with the front grill is HOT though. That really does bring out the front headlights, where I thought was brought down by the weird grill(Thats a Tribeca thing, not Impreza!)
I'm also kinda iffy around the back window spoiler too.... it seems kind of extreme..... seems kinda.... ugly?

thats exactly what i said when i saw the trailor pull into the dealership while there on service. Pictures do not do them justice at all.

i think the OP was saying he / they might be manufacturing this, and was just trying to get ideas. If that happens that would be awesome, my only suggestion is not to make it stick out way far to where you need side skirts and a different rear end to make it look good. make it as close to stock dimensions as possible, just without the fuggliness.

its like putting frosting on crap IMHO
also, note the "camera" angle....the lens effect makes the hood look much longer...just like in all the publicity photos from this summer. Lots of people say it looks better in person, I think it looks worse.

i dont get this thread at all. If most people dont like the grill dont buy an 06. theres nothing really different about it other than exterior and most of you dont like it, so just get an 05 STi and be happy with it.

Okay an update! You guys are awesome for all your thoughts and ideas on what you want the 06' to look like. The bottom line is that we feel the only way to give you guys what you want is to produce a new hood as well or you'll still be fighting the Alfa design with a bumped hood, even if you have a sweet bumper! Timeline and pics to come soon!

Here is the bottom line, you can take items off any car and say oh that is from this car or that part is from that car. If the car is going to look like another car, it still needs to look good. I do think the 06 is OK looking, but the biggest problem is it lost its impreza identity. So far I have never seen an 06 on the streets but there are many times I have thought I have seen an 06, and I can spot a subie from miles away. Anyhow sometimes I look in my mirror and think I see one and then as it get closer its actually a pontiac grand am or some kinda suzuki. IMO I think the 02-05 is the most distinct looking impreza, yes I'm sure you can find certain parts of the car that looks like something else, but the car as a whole has a nice distinct look about it. The GC8 is actually one of my fav body styles, but it shares alot of the same features, the body, the hood, the lights, the car as whole looks like a honda or a nissan for that time period. Really the hood scoop is what set the GC8 apart.
