They've been "back" with BAR/BAT since the start of the 2002 season.

Thx Jamie for the pic link. I might have to wait until the new New Age comes out. I don't care for WRB but that STi looks as Mr. Feldstead would say "the dog's bollocks"...especially in tarmac spec. :devil:

the hood scoop does not need to be big,The scoop on the WRC car is just for looks, The intercoller is located behind the grill/emblem with the raditor below it. and I will have to agree with SubieGal I LIKE IT and I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!!!:D now I have to convince my wife:lol:

I'm not sure about that, Idjiit. Early in the '02 season they had roof vents, then after Acropolis and before Safari they disappeared. Anyone have any idea why?

Right, but they only had the 555 livery in Monte Carlo, and after that is was the Subaru stars.

Actually, the 555 livery was only on the cars when they were actually in Monoco. Once the cars were on the routes in France, the 555 came off and the Subaru Stars went back on.

They also had the 555 livery last year at Catalunya, Argentina, Acropolis, Safari, and San Remo.

Remember alot of European countries have bans on cigarette brand advertising.

Dont forget that Marlboro disappeared from the Mitsubishi cars during alot of events too.

I heard that they have a system that sucks the air in through the wheel wells? Didn't make sense when I heard it, but there you have it. Seems like it would be pretty dusty down there.

I don't know exactly how it works, but yes, the roof scoop is gone, air is fed into the cabin from another point.

Oh, BTW, I agree with Jamie, the new look rocks.

I asked about the roof scoop thing when the 2003 concept photos first came out. The Felstead posted a picture showing the current setup, which has a duct molded between the front of the car and the intercooler on the left side. I'd imagine they prefer that because of the coefficient of drag.

I really don't like that near as much as the 2002 style... It's not NEARLY as unique anymore. Plus, in all the action shots in the dirt, why does that color blue look so lame??? (besides the fact it's dusty)... I think this car just looks like any other nissan, or mazda P-series, etc. :monkey: re-designers!!!...

I like the 2003 version better simply due to the fact that the headlight design wasn't tweaked for the sole reason that the stock setup was fugly. Prodrive clearly wasn't happy with the original light setup, and the dual-beam style seemed to be designed to play down Subaru's original design.

The new car is closer to what a production model looks like, which I think is a good thing since (like it or not) WRC is a marketing tool when all is said and done.

Frankly I dont care what the car looks like as long as we have a better season. Granted Petter getting second was awesome but I want to see Subaru do better in the Manufacturers points as well!

I like the new look and cant wait to see it on the streets. I just wish they would add fender flares to the wagon.

for some odd reason, the hood scoops have been banned by the WRC for 2003 and on. I am sure there are other systems in place to replace it...


I personally like the new STI.....gotta get that wide body kit too! now the only challenge is due I trade in my rex or keep both next year :)

I dunno... the Evo III-VI always had the more bullish look with the massive front while the GC8 Impreza was sleeker and smaller. The move to the GD body made the Impreza somewhat similar, but the profile was different because of the way the lights were setup. But with the new front fascia, you could swap the colors of the two cars and IMHO you wouldn't be able to make heads or tails out of which was which short of looking at the rear wing or the presence of a hood scoop. Course it's a moot point w/ no Mitsu in 2003 but...

I'm actually liking the new look sans the immense hood scoop, but the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the action shots was "Blue Evo!".

Wierd, the exhaust comes out the right side of the bumper instead of the left. Any ideas why it's different than on the stock WRX or STi? I guess it's probably shorter to do it that way since the exhaust starts out on the right of the engine, but then why do the stockers end up out the left rear?

EDIT: i apologize if this is an extremely noob question, i don't frequent this Motorsports forum, just popped in to check things out.

Just an odd observation:

On the previous models, the production car looks so much better with the STi scoop's agressive opening. However, with this new style of scoop, it makes the car look ridiculous...IMHO. Odd...

And I agree that the STi looks badass from head-on, but a little weird from the front corner angle....

Don't like it more or less than the previous style. It's just different. The GC is still my favorite.

I was reading that the they lose the roof vents becouse the new design for the roll cages make it so you can't run the roof vents.

but to the best of my knowlage hood vents are still legal.

I think the 2003 is kinda ugly. the 2002 wrx has finally grown on me, and i like the bug eyes. but, if I had it my way, i would bring back the old school wrc---->

Yep, I have always like the old school impreza. It just wasnt fast enough for me so I went with the WRX because the WRX grew on me, especially when I saw the things you could do to it to make it look cooler like STI headlights, body kits, so on.....

As for this NEW impreza, I really cant seem to get used to the bulky styling of the front end. It reminds me of an Altima or somthing. I hope it grows on me with time.

STR8OUT, i agree 100% with you. i don't own a wrx, but i wouldn't mind if i could afford it. it is a sweet car. instead, i bought a cheaper turbo subaru,....a '92 legacy turbo.
the new front end reminds me of a Acura rsx, it just doesn't look right on a impreza.

btw, i have seen your car, it is very nice!
