Review: EBay Gauge Pod - AutoMeter Replica Meter Surround Dual Pod
Yep... I have given this a shot and it's worked out better than i expected

Photos of gauge pod/and details <---here

Pod fit suprisingly well, and is a great value.

You can find these all over ebay for $8-9 + shipping

shipping could have been quicker, but the pod arrived as promised

really so those pods are actually decent... i've seen them for a while and though no way they could be as good as autometer's for 1/6 the price :/

guess i was wrong
Bishop 11-18-2004 02:26 AM

OMG! i soooo got ripped when i bought my autometer one. i'm not likin you right now jamie!! j/k nice find!!!
tux 11-18-2004 02:34 AM

wait... why would dremeling be needed if it fits perfectly?
Subie Gal 11-18-2004 09:56 AM

it does fit realitively perfectly
i did not touch the pod or modify it in any way in order to get it to fit as shown

BUT... the edges are a bit rough and if you have a SHOW CAR and want it perfect - you may want to smooth the edges down a bit.

that's all i was saying :)

cheers
Jamie
tux 11-18-2004 11:09 AM

ahh ok

it looked like it fitting perfect was a problem from the wording ;D

smoothing edges is for wimps... true beauty can't exist w/o small blemishes...

i just prefer things to be ugly w/o blemishes ;D
ritky 11-18-2004 02:19 PM

Is anybody currently bidding on this ---> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7934243995&category=46100&sspagename=WDVW

I want it but don't want to jack it from anybody here.

edit: Looks like someone else is on it too....I guess I'll have to try and jack it.
pdippel 11-18-2004 03:59 PM

Don't worry, there will be other auctions to replace it. I have been watching them for at least a month now, and there are always a few auctions a day.
smdandb2 11-18-2004 08:11 PM

I have one. I like it. I just wish I had something to put in the other hole.
Lucky 13 11-18-2004 09:05 PM

Oh man, sorry ritky, didn't realize it was another NASIOC member...

...you made me pay more than I had to :(

haha j/k, hope you find another one!
zojirushi 11-19-2004 12:55 AM

20 bucks shipping for a gauge pod... sheesh
ritky 11-19-2004 02:04 AM
Oh man, sorry ritky, didn't realize it was another NASIOC member...

Well, I decided not to bid since the shipping price was quoted different...12 bucks and 20 bucks. I didn't want to pay 20 bucks. Don't worry...I WILL find another one :)
Lucky 13 11-19-2004 02:45 AM

The paypal request quoted 12 bucks shipping. I paid $24.12 total. Now I just need one more gauge...
IwantONE 11-19-2004 10:15 AM

So is there really any difference between the autometer one and this one? I'm a firm believer in if its too good to be true, then it normally is. I guess you could call me a pessimist.
ydant 11-19-2004 10:25 AM

About time someone sold one that wasn't as expensive as the autometer one. :) And with Jamie's seal of approval this might just be worth it.
Panic 11-19-2004 10:30 AM

I agree with both of those statements and just bought one myself for $22 including shippinh and insurance...Will certainly report back on fitment once I receive it and install it...
Subie Gal 11-19-2004 10:59 AM

I havent seen the autometer gauge pod :)

All i can do is tell you guys that this one

FIT without modification

It was a good / decent fit

The Gauges Fit

It looks Factory

It's made of ABS Plastic and is unpainted

that's all i got :D it worked out great for me

cheers

ydant 12-07-2004 11:45 AM

Sweet. Little birdie just told me the gauge I asked for is coming in the mail. :) Just placed an order for one of these.

Thanks, Jamie!
tux 12-07-2004 12:06 PM

just for info. EXACTLY THE SAME as autometer... except the edges are sanded for you... compared mine (after jamie said it's good) to my friend's autometer. and it was definately worth 20$

autometer is overcharging for their name :D

my friend was pissed since he paid 80$+shipping for his autometer
ydant 12-07-2004 12:08 PM

Weird that these just recently started appearing on ebay. I know I didn't see them there last year when I was looking at the autometer pod.
g0tb00st 12-07-2004 12:22 PM

this pod rocks! i have it too and suprisingly enough it fit really well!

subijitsu 12-07-2004 08:26 PM

Do they make these for the GC?
ydant 12-07-2004 08:47 PM
Do they make these for the GC?
I've seen one in a GC or GM, but I don't remember if it's the same as the newer dash style or not. So, yes, they do. But I don't know if this will work.
casualsurfer 12-30-2004 08:18 PM

i just saw that the dude sells it for $8 bucks and wants $20 for shipping. that's ridiculous.
g0tb00st 12-30-2004 08:31 PM
i just saw that the dude sells it for $8 bucks and wants $20 for shipping. that's ridiculous.
whats rediculous is that autometer wants $70+ for it!
SnailFedBoxer 12-30-2004 08:58 PM

Here's Mine!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7932042532&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

Well, the auction I won. Just installed it. I was also surprised with the fitment. Best pod for the cost hands down.

(Yes my name is turboteggy, I used to have a Turbo Integra - burnouts on the highway got tiring, so I decided to go AWD! )
Subie Gal 12-30-2004 09:05 PM

i think i paid like $11 shipping for mine

all in all it was $20 IIRC

i think it's an excellent value.. so why keep it a secret :D

IMPREZA GUY 12-30-2004 09:24 PM

could 60mm gauges fit? or only 52's?
g0tb00st 12-30-2004 09:26 PM
could 60mm gauges fit? or only 52's?
IMPREZA GUY 12-30-2004 09:29 PM

ydant 12-30-2004 10:54 PM

autometer 2 & 1/16th fits perfectly :)
Kha0S 12-31-2004 02:22 PM

Nice! I'll have to pick one of these up.

MomoWRX 01-12-2005 12:08 PM

Subie Gal, what screws did you use to put in the holes by the gauges or did you not even use them? I just got mine and i don't have any hardware
ydant 01-12-2005 12:11 PM

Just the two screws for the top. I didn't do anything on the bottom holes.
Subie Gal 01-12-2005 12:23 PM

oh those lil holes on the bottom front?

nah didnt do anything with those
just secured using the top 2 screws... :)

Jamie
MomoWRX 01-12-2005 01:42 PM

Thanks :)

Will take pictures when i get a chance :alien:
tux 01-18-2005 01:08 AM

the holes on the bottom are on the autometer as well, best guess i had was perhaps they are there for the led's that go along w/ more advanced radar detectors, or for cheese looks?

anywhoo they are great, scratch easy tho (don't sneeze on it unless you paint it)

gauges move a bit, but electrical tape wrapped around the gauge holds it well enough!
kiefer 01-18-2005 01:19 AM

The little holes on the bottom are used in the Autometer dash pod. It comes with little metal brackets that extend back and screw into the dash. Not sure if it does anything, but they are used. Once again, eBay rocks!

MyFirstDeuce 01-18-2005 02:32 PM

I know it was asked. But could it fit a GC?
bbaker80 02-11-2005 12:08 PM

Has anyone put one of these into an 05 yet? The odometer is down in the corner now, and I'm curious as to how much of that would be covered.
ydant 02-11-2005 12:13 PM
Has anyone put one of these into an 05 yet? The odometer is down in the corner now, and I'm curious as to how much of that would be covered.
Is it different from the 04?

It doesn't block the ODO for me, but I can't see the gas light at all unless it's dark out.
bbaker80 02-11-2005 11:13 PM

It looks to me that the '04 you have pictured there is the same as my '05. Any pics of it installed in yours?
mcowger 02-11-2005 11:20 PM

Check out my install in an 05:

Bringing this thread back up. :D

I'm thinking of using this to add two gauges and my question would be if I can still keep the stock Boost gauge on the steering column as well. I am planning on installing a Stereo head unit where the clock originally was and move my two gauges by the cluster.

Thanks!
does the gauge pod fit a 2004 STi?
Yes. Same exact surround. :)
mcowger 08-29-2005 10:05 PM

Yes, it will.
Superstar 08-29-2005 10:28 PM

thanks guyz!
mrjasey 08-30-2005 05:22 AM

hmmm i saw those on ebay but i was hessitant about fitment...i will have to pick one up when i get more gauges...for now i just have a boost....but it is annoying i paid $20 for ONE autometer cup when i could have gotten this for $20-30
Good2Go 04-14-2006 09:35 AM

Interesting option.
neushane 04-14-2006 12:11 PM

damn, talk about bringing a thread back from the dead. I have seen the replica installed in my friend's wagon and I bought a new autometer one for $50. I will admit that the replica looks pretty good. Only issue I saw was where the back of the gauge pods meet the plastic shield of the tach. There was a large gap on the replica and it didnt sit flush.

I would have gotten the replica if I didnt save the extra few dollars with the deal I got but I would suggest the autometer since I have now seen and compared both.
