I noticed the carbon fibre trim in your WRX. Is it the OEM kit, or is it aftermarket (e.g. from wooddash.com)?
I'm very interested in seeing some pics of these kits in place. I think it looks pretty slick. Any info you can give me would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm surprised more people don't have the factory CF knob that I have. I think it's really aqwesome looking, and I like that it's real CF (unlike my Momo knob on my old car which was fake CF). It also goes so nicely with the Subaru CF e-brake handle. Granted, they were pricey, but the dealer wouldn't take them off the car anyway, and I wanted that WRX! :D

He's talking about the older VW's. Beetle (non turbo) and 2.0L's. They had one that does look actually very similar. Not the VR6/1.8T ones that are shown.

Shift boots?
Hey, I seen some of your guys new knobs and was wondering if u used your old shift boots or did you guys get a new one? I have a momo shift boot and it doesnt seem to be attached right? It attaches to the shift knob perfect but when I took out the old one I had to cut it and then attached it on. It doesn't look quite right. Thanks

Bigelm, I got a great deal on mine on Ebay.

I have a momo airleather that I'm using right now, I love it. I also have this shift knob but it's entirely too cold to use during the winter months. Crappy picture though.

how?
To those of you with momo shift knobs. How did you attach the shift boot to the knob?
| S-WRX | 02-09-2002 10:00 PM |
I didnt attach mine, the leather boot comes up by itself withotu attaching anything. This is due to the short shifter. Before when I had the stock shifter, the boot sag down, but after I changed it, it sits just right and I dont need to attach anything.
| nomorefocus | 02-10-2002 11:45 AM |
Not the best picture. It screwed right on and the boot fit over it just like stock. I wish it weren't so darn COLD though! I have to wear a glove to use it this time of year.

It's fairly easy to put something under the boot ring so it doesn't sag. I happen to use rubber bands, other use tie wraps or just about anything else that will stay in place on the shifter. I've had it that way for a couple months now and haven't noticed anything sagging. It looks like it's attached to the knob somehow.

Here is my prodrive knob that I received this weekend courtesy of HIHO ! Like the look and feel, but da** does it get cold. Oh well. I've heard that you are not suppose to rest you hand on the shifter anyway.

As for the boot sagging, don't use rubber band. It will either melt or harden (then falls off) over time. Use the ever-so-useful tie-wrap. Just put couple of them on the shift rod.

| Mulder | 02-24-2002 09:22 PM |
This is an Isotta carbon fiber knob (fake of course). Cost $50, matches the interior really well, excellent feel and comfort. A huge improvement over the stock leather knob which can only be gripped easily from above, this one is anatomic and can be held comfortably from the top or side.
Not metal so thermally neutral.
The boot isn't actually attached but it sits in about the right place so it really isn't a problem.
Universal fit with setscrews but no problem so far.

heres my shift knob ( factory carbon fiber shift knob ) , i love the small size because i hate big ball shift knob, and i have the entire factory carbon fiber to go with, plus i have the brake handle on backorder :/
side note: also got a carbon fiber cell phone case, and I bought the cable to upload a self designed wrx logo to the phone, its blurry but you can sorta make it out.
talk about a little wrx crazy huh ? :P
