Agreed.
If history shows one thing it's that the second season is always much harder for a new team, even one with expectations as low as Super Aguri.
All Ant needs to do next season is soundly put Sato in the shade. If he can't his reputation is all but ruined.

I don't think history can be brought into this because most of the time they had a real car for the first season. If SA has been able to make an actual chassis for next year and not simply another rehash of the Arrows A23, I think they'll be a lot faster than they were.

True, but even when a team has a "real" car for their debut season, the second season is almost always much much harder.
Look at Red Bull. They inherited a well sorted chassis and engine package from Jaguar and Cosworth, then went on to have a very respectable season. The second season however, when they had their own car could only be called embarrassing (lucky Monaco podium aside...).
What Super Aguri achieved with the mothballed Arrows car was nothing short of amazing. To find something like four seconds from that chassis over the season was increadible, and in my mind they certainly earned the right to not have Matchett openly mock them at every turn...

I think normally you're right, it'll be interesting with Honda next year too, and BMW, but they were given sorted cars. SA started from absoulte crap so I don't think they will go back to where they were or worse by any chance.

but they still have to start from scratch, so theoretically they could do alot worse. However, you are right Ferg, getting those kind of times out of the Arrows cars shows they have the engineering talent to develop a great car. But will they have the orginization and budget to do it from scratch?
looks like we need to start our 2007 thread :)
