So what are the not so supersecret plans for everyone next year
Lot's of WRX changes it seems trhoppe going to an STi KC going to RX-8 or something MNBiker going to some junky mazda. DrBiggly picking up a WRX that has never had tranny problems, etc. etc.

Saw this on the other less popular forum and thought it'd be nice to see what every one is doing this winter for the following season.

If it's not under the supersecret eyes only category.

As for me I'm going from the Stock setup with Hoosiers to:

Stock WRX with Hooooooosier in DS

to

Tein RA 8/10 with thoughts of going to 10/12 (everyday driver though)
MRT Endlinks (Front/Rear)
Cusco Rear Anti-Sway Bar (22mm-24mm)
Cusco Front Anti-Sway Bar (21mm)
Whiteline Heavy-Duty Anti-Sway Bar Mounts (Rear)
Cusco Strut Tower Bar (Rear)
Whiteline Strut Tower Bar (Front)
17x8 Rotas with 245/35 FK 451
17x7.5 Potenza S-03 on SSR Comps for some days
Supersecret sponsor money :D
Highspeed WRBlue wagon-specific paint

Many of hte parts are off of MNBiker's now stock WRX Wagon.

Going to nationals events this year and maybe a prosolo or two.

If it becomes an issue I'll fiddle with the engine but I like having the warranty. Possibly a BBK if I find time to do some road courses like Road America

Up here in WI we will have a pretty good contingent of well prepped WRX's to duke it out. ColinL (4th STS) and scoobygirl (3rd STXL) are preparing her car a bit more I hear and Colin will be co-driving it. thechickencow might be lured into it if he doesn't throw all his money at that Rally stuff.

Look forward to next years plans

Going from STi in AS to.... Spec Miata
AlpineFD 11-06-2004 08:36 PM

Hopefully I'll finish repairing my 93 mazda rx7 next year, it'll be running in ASP, I don't have the budget to run competitively, so problaby going to be a mid packer.

I'm going from having an underpowered 2.5RS in Street Mod, to an underpowered 2.5RS in Street Mod that weighs a good bit less...

First on the weight reduction "chopping block" are seats and hood. My current race weight is 2725lb with no driver and about a half-tank of gas (which is nowhere near the 2400 lbs my car is allowed to be in Street Mod (N/A under 3.0L with AWD)).

Also, I may be adding a roll bar as I'd like to start doing Solo 1 with the car since I have another daily driver now (i.e., the Legacy).

So basically, I'm taking off a bunch of weight, then adding it back with a big chunk of steel where the back seat used to be...

The baddest STi on the planet in ESP and OLOA ;)

Lets see,

New intercooler
New gearset
New engine
New coilovers
New lateral links front and rear
New Steering ratios
Possibly a new turbo (and by new, I mean something no one has built yet)
New wheels (brand and size) this will probably require some bodywork.
New Tires (size for certain and brand depends on if some more sizes come out in the V710 by next season)

I am also toying with another idea no one in Subaruland has tried yet, but I will keep that one under wraps for a bit longer as well. First I need to find I REALLY good machine shop. ;)

Oh, and before Tom chimes in...I am going to sell my soul to try to get to some evolution schools next spring. :D
1984 11-07-2004 03:02 AM

I'm gonna live on a diet of Ramen so I can buy a new set of tires, swaybars, endlinks and try to do as many events as possible. Maybe by the time I'm 25 I'll actually be decent :)
dwx 11-07-2004 09:30 AM

I almost have the WRX back to daily driver status so work will begin on the other car soon. I plan on documenting everything I do with it. I need to start soon though because it's going to be a lot of work. I only have till April I think.
HoRo1 11-07-2004 09:52 AM

Well, I'm going to . . .OOPS! This is an autoX thread.
srf 11-07-2004 10:55 AM

Hopefully engine management, full turboback, Hawk Blues, Victoracers, install my Ground Controls, and lots of track days. =) Thinking of taking the laptop along and doing some data capture too for the heck of it... if only I could integrate OBD-2 with GPS!
PJ2.5RS 11-07-2004 11:00 AM

Joe, any comments on the FK 451's?...
trhoppe 11-07-2004 11:06 AM

hehe, just noticed that. Going with the cheater tires eh? ;)

-Tom
Midnight_Gold 11-07-2004 12:15 PM

I'm going to miss the cheater tires.. well... that is, until I finally figure out how to drive on race tires. The STi's gonna be a monstaa!

Oh yeah.. this year the tables are turned... it's not Tom letting me drive his kaa, it's the other way around! Maybe he won't bitch about having to fill up my gas tank this time.

My white Sti street car will become a "ENDLESS-ZEAL" rolling demo sema booth, clad with Safety 21 cage, 2 race seats (seating position will so low, you'll feel like an 8th grader again)and will take people for rides at Summit Point on most track days. AP pedals and no emergency brake. Car will still have tags on it.............

on the fence,........Stack tach, escain dash(dust is your enemy) no carpet.

Well since the FK-451's were used by some guy from NC (now GA) at nationals and he did okay with em I imagine they are pretty nice. A 5 % reduction in diameter certainly sounds great.

They came off of MNBikers wagon so I'm gonna have to default to him on those. They sure do look nice next to my corded hoosiers though. I'm still curious how they will end up comparing to the other 245/35 that exist. I know of the Toyo's (haven't heard any good things about em) and the Goodyears (haven't heard anything about them). There are probably a couple of others out there.

what kind of brackets and seats....I am too tall and I need to be back to 8th grade height (which I am sure is still taller than most)

No, no, no...just throw money at your car like you've been doing...if you go to an EVO school you'll learn how to actually harness the power your car has and then I won't stand a chance... j/k ;)

kicking around the idea of stopping this foolishness with making a street car a race car. CMod or up is where i'm looking. probably just as a tire warmer, but even on my bad days i'll be faster then the rest of you SOB's in your grocery getters!!! :P

nate - really has no idea...

I'm getting lightweight wheels next week and I'll have to sell my soul in order to afford to go to Nationals events (gas, food, hotel and tires.) EVO school is a definite; I need to fix some problems I've been having (and it's pretty much guaranteed that it ain't the kaa.)

Worst case: I'm too broke to pursue a reasonable amount of National Tours or ProSolos and just hit a couple and hopefully Nationals; run local events otherwise. Time will tell. :)
afpdl 11-08-2004 12:29 AM

Going to try and make it to some events bigger then the local tour, after I figure out how to keep all 4 wheels on the ground.

The STX'mobile is getting a set of "gently used" coilovers, and at some point I'm going to break down and do the brakes - H6 rears for sure, possibly 4-pots up front.

Oh yeah and I'm going to learn to drive  We'll see how that goes. STX is going to be pretty competitive in the WDCR.

Still shopping for a Miata beater to take some miles off the WRX.

30% more power! ....in my kart. Hopefully, I can make it out to some Divisional and National events this year. I need to get fit this winter so I can also do well in wheel to wheel.
Georgethefierce 11-10-2004 08:01 AM

plans are.....

Turn the Wagon back to stock (so I say)

compete in Time trials and Auto-X in a '85 Omni GLH

once you get stranded in at an event in your 8 month old Daily Driver you think about a dedicated track car.
