Something different when debadging trunk..
1 Attachment(s)
OK, I really would never do this (the pic) or anything like that, but it is different and I would like to hear suggestions on what to do to a Silver trunk desides just taking off the SUBARU in the middle or replacing it with IMPREZA. I think Silver is quite unique in that is already hides the letters pretty darn well, so I rather do something different.
Anyone (preferably on a SIlver car) try something different and want to share pix/ideas?

ok im sorry but i think its dumb
maybe its the font or something ... its just too much
also imho if ur gonna do something like that i think it looks alot cleaner (lesscluttered) without the wrx logo

I put in the original post that I would never do this - it was more of a joke to possibly get the creative juices flowing. I was more hoping someone had a better idea than just take out the SUBARU on the trunk. I've seen that 100 times and while I think it looks good on a Blue or Black trunk, I would like something different, espesially on my Silver car.
| newbie sewbie | 08-02-2002 11:15 PM |
actually, i think it's a good idea. it opens the door to other possibilities as well. you can have just bout anything written back there.....but the cost would kill this idea though
| StewPiddass | 08-02-2002 11:35 PM |
you could put "555" or "WRX"
| Hazdaz | 08-03-2002 09:44 AM |
NEWBIE SEWBIE: "it opens the door to other possibilities as well" ... yeah, thats kinda why I drew it up - was hoping for a flash of inspiration and an idea that actually would loook good - unfortuntaly all I got was whats in the pic. Concerning the costs, I couldn't imagine it being more than like $20 or something to do that IF i really wanted to though. Those letters gotta be fairly cheap.
STEWPIDDASS: So would you do WRX accross the whole rear of the trunk (i.e. replace SUBARU with that)? Have you actually done this one?
On the 555 thing, it might be a good idea for a blue car with rally stickers all over it, but not on mine - Also not too crazy about having a cigarette company/slogan on my trunk.

The older WRX's (old style) had a large 'WRX' graphic across the back of the trunk - Try MRT's site for examples (pg 3 & 4)
MRT stickers
Not sure how any of them would work on silver though.

Hey CTKAG - those "boot stickers " aren't too bad (the ones that just say WRX in a funky font).
I just thought of this variation:
Once again, not sure if I really like it, but it is different.

That makes it look unbalanced. Needs something in the center or small, near the keyhole.
With your 'record' with the cops, maybe a big 'Krispy Kreme' logo?? :D

I have an idea to make the trunk look better. Take that wing off! No offense if you like it and of course its your car. It just rubs me the wrong way.
On the trunk lettering, I think less is better. Keep it clean.

paint the SUBARU letters Plack Pearl or any other color of oyur choice..
Toyota uses Black Pearl emblems and they look super sweet on silver cars..
i was thinking about getting the I M P R E Z A and doin them in black(more like a charcoal color gray actually)
ok, now everyone remember, Murray had this idea :D (for Subaru's at least)
if anyone is willing to dish out the $30-40 or whatever for the IMPREZA letters, i'd be happy to paint em and sport them on my car.
currently my trunk is naked other than the keyhole and wing...perhaps i will paint the SUBARU tomorrow and stick it back on.
Gold or Bronze would go well if you have matching wheels...then just get that door molding from pep boys and stick it all the way around every crack, hood, trunk, doors, fenders, and lets not forget the gas door...
but back wo what i was saying, black or any darker color would look good on a silver car.
i just convinced myself to paint mine tomorrow night.
Murray <--- had the darker SUBARU badge idea first!

DUBRX: No offense - no wait, forget that, DO take offense, but you sound like a total moron. WHY would someone do something to their car if they DIDN'T like it, WHY?
Especially on a topic that clearly states I want something DIFFERENT than the 3000 other WRX's out there. Is the concept of originality LOST on you?

I think you are sort of correct in one way though... I like the disclaimer idea, but ya worded it fairly poorly, it shoud have read: "Please don't respond with some dumb asss comments which quite obviously have nothing to do with the topic and don't have much thought behind them."

That's actually a cool idea... my folks own a Platinum Edition Toyota Avalon and they have the badge set that Murray speaks of. If you'd like I can get close up pix of it.
The platinum series came in only one body color, "moonmist" which was a creamy silver (best I can describe it) so pics can give you a general idea. I'll see if I can grab pics and post them tonite if you want.

DUBRX - you get the Award today for being the "Typical" I-Club Dumbas$s.
We all know the type - the person that posts "Agh Altezzas are nasty and they should burn" when the topic was just a simple innocent question on "where to buy them?" - not asking for some idiot's opinon on something that a particular person already decided he wanted to buy. You, my friend, should be the one that should "grows up" as you so well phrased.
Moving on to people that actually have something to say about topic at hand....
TOPCOVER: If you can post some pics, that owuld be great. Is that "creamy silver" color you mentioned one of them 'iridescent' colors? - cuz I think I know which one your talking about (and actually that description fits the color REALLY well).
FREDERF: Well the photochop came out good even if it was quick. I personally don't think I would like the letters that high up the trunk though. I think that if they were right below that little "hump" on the trunk, it might look more balanced about 2-3" below where you put htem in your pic). Maybe you can change up your photshop file and repost it that way.

when i started to debadge my car i did the "S" then went to the end "U". the front "U" was next and then i got a phone call from my girlfriend saying she needed me right away. so since i was a nice boyfriend and all i dropped my debadging activities and went to cater to her needs. on the way home a cop pulled up next to me at a light and asked me for a martini. he laughted then drove away. i was bewildered and had no clue what the hell he was saying. later on the next day i went to get something out of my trunk and realized that the remaining letters left were "B A R". i then laughed and decided to leave it on for a week before i took it off. i got some pretty funny reactions from people.
| Yasin | 08-06-2002 01:32 AM |
My friend's father does airbrush in Spokane, WA. I heard he can do a reflective, smoke colored job of lettering / design.
I am planning on getting an arabic phrase done across the back window of my wag-on. That way from some angles you would only see tint, and at others you'd see the caligraphic sylings of arabic... just an idea.
I like to see the other people striving for something original on their cars.
If you feel like temporary phrases, designs, etc. I know someone who does the designs for many vehicles in vinyl. This is completely removable, and can look clean...
Let me know if you like the sounds of this, they'd appreciate the business.
Peace,
Yasin

that's a great idea scott. you ought to do it. i don't know if any of the other jokers on this thread would agree with you, but I certainly do. did you get the idea from last month's copy of super chevy? they had a guy in there who rearranged the 'chevrolet' badging on his '66 Chevelle 2 door wagon to say 'LOVE TO REV' your idea is cooler though!
and as for that hideous vestigial wing on hazdaz's wrx....take your bench to the park, son. it's a big joke. if your dumb ass got up to a speed that it would actually be useful at, the downforce would rip holes in your trunk. and it's not even good looking enough to be 'just for looks.' so either way, in my book, you're stupid. you could have gained a good 30 horsepower with the money you spent for that shopping cart handle. it's kindof counterintuitive to the process of debadging your car isn't it. i mean, you debadge the car to make it take advantage of those maytag inspired styling cues, right? and to make it a sleeper of sorts, then you slap that on? why???
and as far as i remember, your name wasn't in the list of posts generated by some veritable geniuses that have 413rwhp in their wrx's, so i'll be the first to let you know if i EVER see you on the road, i'm gonna hand you your ass and get it all on video tape. ever been beat by seventeen car lengths by a vehicle that weighs twice what yours does?
if you can't beat me, eat my dust, look out mother****er here comes the rust! and NO, i STILL haven't figured out what the big round thing in front of my driver's seat is for...so don't ask me to run on the curvies... ;-)

all in good fun, i just hate the park bench. but i love the wrx it's bolted to. the guy across the street from me just bought a wrx, and traded in his BRAND NEW VETTE Z06! 'nuff said.

and as far as i remember, your name wasn't in the list of posts generated by some veritable geniuses that have 413rwhp in their wrx's, so i'll be the first to let you know if i EVER see you on the road, i'm gonna hand you your ass and get it all on video tape. ever been beat by seventeen car lengths by a vehicle that weighs twice what yours does?
if you can't beat me, eat my dust, look out mother****er here comes the rust! and NO, i STILL haven't figured out what the big round thing in front of my driver's seat is for...so don't ask me to run on the curvies... ;-)
jason
all in good fun, i just hate the park bench. but i love the wrx it's bolted to. the guy across the street from me just bought a wrx, and traded in his BRAND NEW VETTE Z06! 'nuff said.

I'm in the process of selling my 2000 RS to get a SRP WRX. I think the letters would look pretty sweet painted the same color as teh car and placed at the very bottom of the trunk. This wouldn't be all the feasable unless your car was in the body shop for some other reason anyway and the paint was already mixed up:rolleyes:
and I'm still giggling after the use of the word 'vestigial' when describing that wing:lol:

I HAVE THE POWER! damn, i wish i was a kid again.
and just to give old hazmat or whatever his name is some fodder, here's my car...fast as it is ugly, and that's saying a lot...

and another with the tailgate rebadged in photoshop...and the true ugliness of the paint showing...no i didn't have anything to do with that paint. amazingly enough, the car was originally garnet red, the white was painted over up to the pinstriping - YIKES!

well, mine isn't a 12 second car. it's a sub 13 car. nuff said.
sorry, i always wanted to do that. this whole fancy featured message board thing is a little insane. i just wish there was a
:drink:
smiley on this one, where i could have an army of 40 smileys gulping down a pint of guiness simultaneously.
have a good one. don't take those turns TOO fast. and by that you know i mean 200mph. ;-) anyone on this board in the sacramento area? i have a VERY fun road to drive down if you want directions to it. newly paved, many s turns, lots of elevation change. perfect for a sube. i had the sherrifs pass me on the way down it once, and when i got to the end there was a sherrif waiting to escort me back to town at the speed limit. they didn't pull me over though. but i did meet the first sherrif on a 15mph turn going 48. easily. on stock tires for the 2.5rs.... he didn't even try to turn around...just radio'd his buddy.

Hazdaz... Props to you for not giving a crap what the lemmings what you to put on your car. Now, what size uprights are on that wing of yours (9")? And what size is the wing (length wise) 56". I personally like your wing. Don't care for the stock one (though it is kinda growing on me with the Zero Sport extensions). And most other wings don't tickle me fancy. I saw the STI Carbon Fiber one (of course I'd get the replica)... and it's ok... but still doesn't do it for me. So far... the GT style spoiler and the Wings West ProWing Spoiler are the ones that I like.

So whats the OTHER car, a Ford Ranchero??

CTRALLYRACER: Dudeyour totaly right, I DON'T care what the lemmings say (espesially ones with El Caminoes - wow, thats too funny).
I personally totaly hate the stock one, and don't like the "Rally" (basket handle) one either. But my whole thing is that if you like it, do it, cuz unless someone else is paying your car loan, they can prettu much shut it.
(PM me wen your going to that meet on the 17th and I can try heading down there around the same time)
