Volk Racing/Ray's Engineering Wheel Stickers

I'm going to be getting some Rota Grids, and I just wanted to make them look a little more like the Volk TE37 that they are replicas of. Does anyone know where I can get the Volk Racing and Ray's Engineering stickers that are found on the TE37s? I hear that Volk won't directly sell them to people. :(
Please try to keep the flaming to a minimum. It's bound to happen, but could I just please get the information requested. TIA

Get them made custom. If you really want them.
| wrX-RTD | 09-10-2004 01:47 AM |
im sorry but thats gotta be one of the worst ideas ever. be proud of what you have man! rotas arent bad wheels and people that are in the know about volks, etc. will probably look at it the same way as people putting NOS stickers or something on their stock 1989 honda accord.
be original and get some custom rota stickers if you want that look. i think that would be a wiser decision.
whatever you choose, good luck with the car. :)

This is the reason Rays wont sale those stickers period. They dont people rolling knockoff rims with there stickers on them. At the point everybody would be doing this. And that is wak. I know this beacause i had a friend with te37's and his stickers actually starting peeling off and Rays , and all shops contacted would not or could not get these even for the real Volks.

It was probably caused by a wheel cleaner. Even if they say safe on all wheels. Eventually the chemicals will get to it. You should only use soap and water to wash your wheels. Meguiars has a new product that they say if it damages the wheel in anyways they will replace the wheel. Good for next time. Mikal

People in the know won't be fooled for one second and people that have no clue about wheels won't care or know what volks are anyway.
| rabbitnutz | 09-10-2004 12:39 PM |
i know nothing about wheels, other than some look good, and some don't, but that's my only opinion.....anyways....get soem custom stuff made up for rotas, i personally don't think they are a bad wheel, i would like to have alot of their stuff on my car...i knwo Volk is respecyted in the racing commmuntiy, but it is my belief that some sort of rota sticker in about the same location that a volk sticker would be....that'd be my best bet.
| BIGSKYWRX | 09-10-2004 02:55 PM |
My TE's were only a couple of weeks old and made the made mistake of going thru an auotmatic car wash- much to my horror several of the decals were ruined- I ended pulling them all off. I tried replacing them at a later date- Makkin would sell them to me- for a king's ransom! I sourced a set out of Japan (for a prince's ransom) finally- I ordered blue and got black- actually like the black better:)
The decals can be had (@ a premium), but as everyone has pointed out- what's the point if you don't Volk wheels.

For the people in the know about volk wheels, how would they pick out that the wheels are rotas with stickers on them with such great ease? The rotas look very similar to the actual TE37s, and a sticker is a sticker. Obviously you would look to the center caps which wouldn't have the VR on them like the authentic volks, but a color matched center cap or no center cap at all would be fairly convincing. Please inform me on how someone would instantaneously pick out that the wheels aren't actually volks.

It's the whole reasoning. You want to make people think you have something that you truely do not. Don't be a ****ing rice boy by putting stickers on your Rotas to make them look like Volk's. If you do that you should have your Subie repoed.

give the guy a break, seriously, he has a point with the RS hood scoop, ahaha, besides, who's gonna know? its not like he's entering in shows or whatever, at least i think not, and most people wouldn't care. Even if they did, the wouldn't inspect it like specien, they'd just like hey, he got volks, cool. I think its alright, although i wouldn't like it personally, cuz its LYING!..and we all know how much we hate liers(sp?)...other than that...im with you 100%

All Rotas look similar to their genuine counterparts, but you can still tell a Rota wheel from a Volk, Advan, or BBS genuine. its all in the process of how they're made, how they're painted... etc. I wouldn't do it, because its not a true Volk.

to add to keith's point. TE37's have sort of a rough finish (at least on the bronze set I had). Don't try any make people think you have something you don't.
About the RS hoodscoop b/s; just because you have a hoodscoop, doesn't mean that you have a turbo. From my perspective, the hoodscoop is there for looks. Which is why from the factory it comes blocked off with a block-off plate. But if you decide to later on turbo your car, you can remove the hoodscoop block-off plate and have a functional hoodscoop. Without having to purchase a new hood.

It would be lame to put Volk Stickers on your Rotas. Same thing as putting as STi stencil on your stock TMIC
As far a the hoodsscoop thing:

The RS has a hood scoop is becuase in Japan they are wrx with tmic. So pretty much they bring it here with a different motor but same body style.
Damn, this comment you made is even more moronic than your first post in this thread.
There are people that can't afford real volks, advans, ssr, and the expensive wheels so they opt for cheaper wheels which imo isn't bad. Don't get me wrong but Rota's are badass for the buck, I would rock them like a rock start but the whole sticker thingy, thats not me. If you are going to hook up your ride and show your car, one piece of advise, for your wheel mod section make sure you put rota's not volks becuase people will know that you have rota's and you will look like a [emailprotected]$.
In conclusion, do whatever you feel cuz its your car but don't be a moron.

Oh, good call there Mike. I never knew that at that time, wrx's had hood scoops in japan that were functional. Thank you for stating the obvious, Moron. What's the relevance of your comment? If anything, you are adding fuel to my argument. The RS is copying a WRX purely on looks.
Does the hood scoop add any performance benefits to the car? Does it make the car any more aerodynamic? What's it doing there? It looks cool, cars that use TMICs have them!
As for the WRC car having a FMIC and still retaining the hood scoop, does the WRC car doing the same thing make it alright? Umm, no. It could very well be a hinderance and create unnecessary amounts of drag. It may very well be functional, and be letting air in for cooling or something, but I'm sure there isn't a piece of plastic shutting off the opening of the hood scoop like on an old RS.

Volk requires the serial numbers from their wheels as well as a voucher from the person who bought the wheels and a voucher from the dealer who sold the wheels to you in order to get new stickers.. they make it such a pain in the ass for someone who bought used Volk wheels (like I did for my old Prelude). Some idiot friend of mine used a pressure washer on one of my Volk rims and half the sticker broke off the rim. Sigh. So yeah, mind as well find a vinyl person that will make you some nice replicas of the stickers.
