What do you think about Prodrive Making This Spoiler ?
Hey Everyone,
We were sent these images from Prodrive to test the waters to see what you guys think and would like about something like this. They are toying around with a few ideas, these desighns are supposed to yeild the same downforce as the factory WRX spoiler.

Let us know what you think about them. They are trying to see if it's worth it to make them and bring them over to the U.S. Market.

I just hope it won't take 5 years before it comes out...

what I would do, and this is just a thought. Is to extend the flush spoiler our 3-5 inches out from the trunk.so its flush (flat) on the trunk but still provides the downforce and looks good. Plus, no one else makes one and they look bitchin... just my .02
Needles 09-15-2005 07:28 PM

Its hard to till just from the drawings.Maybe some computer generated pics would help. That way we can get a better look at them.

There is one of them from the rear.

yes..
Butt Dyno 09-15-2005 08:06 PM

Will it cost eleventy billion dollars?

That's the real issue w/ Prodrive stuff :)
kpxplaya415 09-15-2005 08:12 PM

all the cross sections are pretty similar with the exception of the last one having a z type shape.

any type of lip spoiler for the trunklid would be appreciated as long as it's not a ridiculous price for such a small piece...
Manji 09-15-2005 08:28 PM

Picture 1 - although most any of the above would be a welcome change to current offerings by other companies...I've been looking for something like this for my wingless bugeye...

 But it's true.
5spdfrk 09-15-2005 08:31 PM

2 or 3 imo
Noizemaker 09-15-2005 08:54 PM

Damn. Too bad I have a wagon.

They need to make a universal in some semi-flexible material, i'd put any of those on my non-subies. :)

def # 4
Moods 09-15-2005 10:38 PM

I get red x's?
Hank3 09-15-2005 10:47 PM

Dude, I'd be over any one of those in a heartbeat, but I voted for #2 :)
Erconcepts 09-15-2005 10:57 PM

so when do the nascar decals show up on the wrx
Speed Racer 09-15-2005 11:03 PM

I would like one similar to the one on the Honda S2000.

Sooooo nothing then?
ConcreteJungle 09-15-2005 11:59 PM

I'd rock that instead of my jumbo wing.
RODSCALIP5 09-16-2005 11:28 AM

I like it! Let's do this!
BlackAndBlue 09-16-2005 11:35 AM

1 or 3
05WRXwagon 09-16-2005 11:35 AM

I think they should get one that improves the downforce and quit worrying about small changes in the looks.
shicane 09-16-2005 12:01 PM

which ever the design they choose to go with... it would be great if the piece doesnt look like its tacked on.. ie...the wing slopes down and sits flush with the trunk .. that would great both style and performance wise..

i vote for #3 and #4!!

AttaQ 09-16-2005 01:06 PM

#2 for the win! Lip spoilers rock! :)
bushflyr 09-16-2005 01:21 PM

As far as looks go, 1, 3, or 4. But whiteGDB's pwns them all. The real question is which provides the most down force. "More than stock"... If I want more than stock I'll give my Trunkmonkey an extra six pack.
Ineed2speed 09-16-2005 05:36 PM
you mean something like this? although a little larger.

Thanks for the positive feedback, wasn't sure if anyone would like it.
Homerisking 09-17-2005 07:45 PM

Prodrive testing the waters on a new spoiler is great....but could you ask them why they haven't gone through on the 04/05 lip? Would be much more interested in that.

Jonnyfilmboy 09-17-2005 10:55 PM

#3 is similar to the lower trunk portion of my zerosports wing. Works very well with the upper half. But personally, I think this look works for a car like the S4, not the WRX or STI. Cars with much better looks to begin with and much prettier cross sections.

Also, how many people are going to buy this with all the holes in their trunks? Every WRX and STi comes with a wing. We'll all have to do a trunk swap, an added price. Or are they hoping to attract the RS market? Won't happen. Most of the RS owners out there, with a few exceptions, don't care about modifying their cars and aren't members here.

P.S. Tell Prodrive to release the front end for the 04-05 they were supposed to release a while back.

Scooby921 09-17-2005 11:20 PM

I like the designs that slope down at the sides to blend in with the quarter panels.
truwrxtacy 09-17-2005 11:22 PM

looks kinda like the mines spoiler to me...
ScoobyNubieToo! 09-18-2005 12:39 AM

Is it me or do all of the pictures look almost the same?
Richmond WRX 09-18-2005 02:46 AM

They need a none of the above option. It would be nice to see something smaller then the sti wing but slightly larger then wrx wing. For those that want something in the middle about the only option is wing risers or the over priced spoilers from different versions of the sti . Mines already has a spoiler design close to alll those anyway.
spongejosh 09-18-2005 04:38 PM

i'd say 2, 5 and 6 are the best looking ones. i've always wanted a m3 looking wing but the mines version is is way to big and clunky. the actual bmw wing is very small and tasteful. it also leaves a very small footprint on the trunk. the mines wraps down the back and looks too big. c-mon prodrive and make an affordable nice little spoiler.

How about a lightweight trunk that has the spoiler built-in?
BLK REX 12-14-2005 05:01 AM

I voted 2...

...Id like to see someone make a lip similar to the TRD lip for the IS300s...
Anglophile 12-14-2005 10:55 AM
How about a lightweight trunk that has the spoiler built-in?
Interesting idea. The comment about holes in our current trunks is right on.
Ahzlon 12-14-2005 11:00 AM

i'll pass... looks like a spoiler that you would find on the back of a chevy cavalier

We have a winnAr
ninethreeeleven 12-15-2005 10:29 PM

I like 1 and 3 because they start out low and peak in the center. But if they would put a LED brakelight in there I would buy one in a flash.
afm983 12-23-2005 05:42 AM

i voted 3, but i really like the idea of a lightweight trunk with a spoiler built in
ronf 12-23-2005 05:57 AM

1 or 4
but OEM WRX wing should be more functional !

None  there all trash , should also have button on the poll for " none of above " :D
Phil Jr. 12-23-2005 11:47 PM

i voted #4...but honestly I would like any of them besides 5/6/7. The way the impreza trunk is shaped you need a rear lip that is taller in the middle and shorter on the two sides...imo

I would DEF. buy on of these if it was prodrive engineered though, less weight/drag....yet the same or more downforce? Where do I send my check? :D
xdrian 01-03-2006 12:07 AM

i would love to get one, let me know when you get it done
WikdRX 01-03-2006 07:56 PM

+1. Although it looks very similar to the Mines lip. Someone else has been posting about making one like that too recently. How will it be attached, double sided tape or bolted on?
wdb 02-13-2006 06:44 PM

Bump for an update....
