What do you think of this color for wheels? part 1

Revolutions Motorsports 05-08-2002 11:28 PM

What do you think of this color for wheels?

We are thinking about bringing a new color for the Rota Tarmacs and the subzero's its called Titanium Chrome. Its alot like black chrome.

The pictures don't do justice on the color they look much better in person.

Here are some pictures:

How does black chrome compare to gunmetal or anthracite?

I can picture black chrome in my head and it looks pretty sweet. Those are definitely something that needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate them.

Revolutions Motorsports 05-08-2002 11:42 PM

You can't compare this color to gun metal or anthercite because this is not painted. Its a long process of vacume sealing thats used to to apply the color. In person it changes colors from angle to angle as well as when it moved into diffrent lighting.

One thing is it does not look like chrome at all.

Sounds interesting.

Doesn't look Black and Doesn't look Chrome.

I bet they would look cool on a car with SRP.

Yes, its very hard to explaine the color

wow. interesting. I like! :) I would definately consider them when I purchase wheels in the future.
Kostamojen 05-09-2002 02:42 AM

The real question is: Will they weigh more with that color?
stentorian 05-09-2002 04:20 AM

NO!!! How about the P1's in white?? Subzeros are in white, but not P1's.......Sorry got a thing for white rims, BUT I hate the subzeros w/ a passion, they're fugly........ Love the price for the P1's but only if they were in white, hahaha....or that 6 spoke rim would be nice too :D
mitch808 05-09-2002 04:50 AM

If you make it, they will come. :D

Seriously, I already bought a set of Gun Metal Subzero's from your very first group buy. Now although you said that I was getting gunmetal, they look pretty darn black to me! But I've gotten used to it.

I would really like a new set of wheels thats for sure. And these could be it depending on price and weight. Oh and cheap shipping to Hawaii
sherifx 05-09-2002 05:58 AM

ditto

Additionally are you just saying the color can be applied to any wheel or is the color specific to this wheel? Thanks for the info, keep us posted

DmanRS 05-09-2002 08:13 AM

what kind of wheels are those in the picture? They're sweet
romanom 05-09-2002 08:38 AM

It that the same finish as BMW uses on the M3 and M5? If it is, I love that color. It looks sharp and the brake dust doesn't show as bad.

Bring it in!
shifterkartracer 05-09-2002 09:23 AM

Looks great
Edvig 05-09-2002 09:50 AM

me like...me like. these would look great on a silver rex.

no money in the budget for wheels right now though. :(
smp291 05-09-2002 09:59 AM

Im diggin it!
amp5 05-09-2002 10:00 AM

Sweet! Love them! Those are good looking wheels, too. Although they'd be even sweeter with the 2/3 piece rivets on them as well. That color would look great on P1/tarmacs. Are these definite or just testing the waters now? Potential sizes? I have 18s now and I wouldn't want to step down to 17s...

yeah i've seen this color on other rims...they are very good looking.....its kinda like the black satin of Prodrive rims...but that is a little flatter color...

Jakezor 05-09-2002 11:11 AM

I'm thinking about "Titanium Chrome" instead of Gunmetal or Anthracite for new wheels on my PSM sedan.
Revolutions Motorsports 05-09-2002 12:04 PM

No if anything it would be lighter because there is no base coat like the painted ones.

They are the mantis as wheel that is no longer made.

Those are freaking awesome. Does this process add more weight to the wheel like crome does?
imprezakid 05-09-2002 08:09 PM

do you think it will scratch easier?

nice look though...
Josh
mlambert 05-09-2002 08:13 PM

i wonder how these would look on a white car :)
NateDogg 05-09-2002 08:18 PM

i would buy a wheel in that color in a second.

how about some pics on a car outside in the sunlight...some natural lighting might give a better idea of what it looks like

just an idea...
Revolutions Motorsports 05-10-2002 01:04 AM

Yes good idea! I was going to do so today but it was cloudy all day. I'll try and snap some shots as soon as the weather clears up.

Is the finish similar to the HyperBlack/HyperSilver wheels that some Japanese wheel manufacturer produces?
Jakezor 05-13-2002 02:48 PM

Me too Scoobyvroom,

Subzeros in "Titanium Chrome"

I emailed you some questions Revolution Motorsports, from the contact page on your website.

Revolutions Motorsports 05-13-2002 07:50 PM

Are you going to offer them in another style besides the subzero?

I sort of like the subzeros, but would like to see pictures of others with the TiCr coating.

I WOULD LOVE to see a video of it...

C.J.

P.S. If I bought them from you (from MN) then came and pciked them up would I save myself Sales Tax AND shipping??

Or would I have to pay one or the other??

not trying to cheat anyone :D
KurleeDaddeeWRX 05-16-2002 11:25 PM

Do you have a set of Rota Sub Zero's or Battles in 18" in Titanium Chrome yet. Let me know. I need wheels for the summer.

I've seen stuff in that color and when it is next to the right color it looks real nice.
Scoobyvroom 05-24-2002 07:08 PM

For anyone still looking at this thread I called Revolutions, they said they won't have these rims for another Three months, sorry but thats too damn long.... Three months is gonna be the end of summer, it's not worth the wait.... IMHO

WRX34 06-03-2002 11:28 PM

Is it like the Enkie Bortex RPM2's I've been waiting for...like a black/chrome silvery finish..if so I wish I'd gotten a pair of these instead. I've waited 2.5 months for mine  oh well, that's what I get for ordering something from Japan!
I like the color/finish better than the actual wheel...have to see pics I geuss?.

Good News!
It won't be as long as originally expected. The wheels are scheudled to be on the next boat to the USA from the Philippines.
I don't want to give a date to get hopes up but it shouldn't be too much longer.

it would look really nice if you got the rota "Formel" in our offest and in that black chrome or titanium chrome or whatever you want to call it. i would DEFINITELY put money on that. id bet that alot of other people on the iclub would like to see the formel in our offset and with normal colors as well. the mantis rims are very nice looking also. will your mantis rims taht you are receiving be a one time only type thing?

Revolutions Motorsports 06-11-2002 12:19 PM

I will test the waters for the formel... as for the mantis we are bringing it back to life and it will be an excluseive wheel fron us that we will stock as demand asks for it. The first shipment will arrive in about 3 weeks but we only havea limited quanity but if its a smash we will bring more in to the USA.

If you do bring us the Formel, how much would it cost? And will the "black chrome" finish increase the price a bit (compared to silver)?
Revolutions Motorsports 06-11-2002 05:14 PM

It would be the same price as the subzero's so in 17" its 550.00 shipped. Hpwever the Ti chrome color costs 25.00 more pr wheel to get that finish but I thought that was kinda harsh so we are going to absorb half of that so it will only cost you guys 50.00 more for the Ti chrome finish.

Henry
