1. If you have a show car, you almost absolutely need it. It really DOES make your car stand out when its just standing still.
2. I think color matched neon looks alright (like on WRB, aspen white)
3. It's just a matter of personal taste and priorities. Like someone said before, if I had 100 bucks I'd rather buy a chunk of titanium to machine into something, or buy a rental pass to a machine shop, or order 5 pizzas.

All they do is beg for attention. Just like vinyl graphics, led washer nozzles and led exhaust tips. They are all cheap useless items that you would find at autozone. Maybe as a finishing touch to a car that already has everything....but a stock car with lights and stickers is way past rice, its retarded.

If done properly, underbody lights look nice on a car in my opinion. I have installed the eurolites onto a few cars (lancers, GTI) and the end result looks pretty decent. Everyone complains about the lights being useless but there are a ton of useless mods that people do to their cars that has only one function: Make it look nice. Even people who spend a ton of money on that wax and polish from zaino or whatever aren't really doing anything except making their car look nicer. Exactly what the underbody lights do... (at night)

I personally like neon lights on some cars... but it has to be a nice car. You see all these cars with hub caps and falling apart with neon and that's just dumb.
I own a Honda... but I'd never put neon on it... i did have a friend that put blue LEDs inside his car to light up the floor and those look pretty cool too...

I'm not a big fan either of the undercar lights, though i've seen em done pretty well like red on a black car. But, people need to zstop using the excuse to use the money on something else because it adds weight and does nothing for performance. Realistically, most front lips (prodrive setup excluded), sti shifter trim, carbon fiber accessories, etc etc etc do little to nothing for the car and do add some weight. It's personal preferene in the end so whatever floats your boat. Just beware of the obvious stigma attached.

well, when you ask for opinions on a public forum, people are in the place to give suggestions, noone is forcing you to buy anything you don't want, i think a lot of people don't like them because they are seen as a waste of money, since they don't really do anything...so giving an alternative item you could buy for approx the cost of the lights is a good way to show someone what you mean by your statement...as for spending money on wax and polish (someone said it earlier) i'd say it is more worth it than lights, since it will also protect our crappy paintjobs for a little longer, and i'd rather have a clean car, with no flash, than a filthy, dull (paint) looking car w/ boatloads of flash...
maybe it would be better worded "you could get this"...how's that?
anyways, bottom line..i'm in the "it's ricey, bad" group :)

personally i think they are cool but that have to be done in good taste and not use then like a ricer person. aka drive threw busy parking lots and turn them on or park your car to run into a gas station but turn them on before you get out

I dont think its bad if its done tastefully. I saw one guy who bought those 10" neons and put them under his car, now thats bad. Also if u can see the bulbs thats bad, and illegal. Another thing is they attract ricers like no other. We were at a meet, and some1 turned on their neons, and people were just drawn to it like white on rice:D
But I think everyone needs some rice, mine comes in the version of a blue neon under the passanger seat. The wires are hidden very well, same with the bulb.

I'm not a fan of the term rice (thats another issue altogether), but neons are 'ricy' because they are gaudy. Every exterior piece you add to a car has a degree of gaudiness. Neonz (and huge WINGz, PHAT body kitz, bumperz, blinkerz, HIDz, LEDz, alteeeezaz, etc) are off the scale and try too hard to grab attention. People on the street looking at a neon-kitted car are not admiring it, they are mocking it and laughing because how stupid it looks. Its funny because the guys with these types of mods think everyone is admiring it and think they drive a freakin race car. The items I listed are cheap and are the type of items you expect to see on ebay/autozone/pepboyz. I can't find a decent part on ebay anymore because the listings are flooded with this crap. On the other hand subtle lips and such enhance the exterior and look like they came on the car from the factory. You say you want to be original, but the junk I listed above are so common. Look at the 'rice' threads on all the other car forums... endless pictures of these cereal box cars. Where do you think Fast and the Furious came from? I doubt the movie would have been made if it wasn't for these types of cars. Again, NOT ORIGINAL. It is rare to see a nice looking car on the street with subtle exterior mods.

Personally, I think neons CAN look good, if done right.
Now, by done right, I mean, the right color was picked for the car, the tubes are HIDDEN, there are not multiple colors, and the car has some decent looks to it already, on a stock car, it does not look right at all, on a lightly modified car, with some exterior styling accents, painted sideskirts, rims, cleared headlights, etc.. it looks O.k.
Now the kid with the old beater dodge neon with the altezza's, $50 muffler, coat-rack wing, and hubcaps... No.. this is just distasteful and tacky! this is where the hatred for some of the cool things come from, some guy puts something like neons on their beater, and its no longer cool... because you have something in common with the joker that drives the beat up dodge neon...
that being said, that WRX looks awesome... i like how the headlights and the foglights glow blue ;)

Neon lights are overall crap from what I've seen, with a few exceptions. It can be done right just like the other's have said.
glilly is one of those "good" examples.
McDaddy is something of them "bad" examples, with the unpainted foggies plastic housings, grill, etc. :D (I still like unicorns tho, and it ain't your fault it was there in the first place; so don't be banning :) ) ;)

Actually, the headlights glow from the factory wedge bulb (I just switched it to blue) and ya know that funky parking light switch on the steering collumn, ...turn it on. As for the fogs, it's just an illusion, they do not glow, at least not yet, I did however put translucent blue vinyl over clear fog protectors to give it that look though. I'll post more pics of the car and neon.

Actually, the headlights glow from the factory wedge bulb (I just switched it to blue) and ya know that funky parking light switch on the steering collumn, ...turn it on.
