No offense against Travis but, putting him against Loeb and Gronholm aint exactly fair. The US team is going to be destroyed. Couldn't they get Scott Speed or Danica at least ? Geeze.

Get to, yes. Going to, no. I'm going to be safety steward at the Maine Winter Rally.

It was more of a race back then.
Is rallying lady No1, Michelle Mouton still putting it on?
At least last year it was only a week late on Speed.

Doesn't surprise me. Whole thing is just a ego trip for France anyway. Even Loeb thought the organizers made a 'suspect' call last year so, Loeb wouldn't lose. French hate the US the most of course so, we get a highly suspect team. They like to rub it in when they can.
Personally, I don't see why NASCAR even lets their guys participate. They really don't have much to gain from it and actualy have something to lose. If there has to be a NASCAR guy it should have been the other Gordon. He at least beat Peterhansel on a Dakar stage.

That's hilarious- when the US actually won the ROC Nations Cup in 2002, 2 out of the 3 drivers were NASCAR drivers.
Now, I hate ASSCAR as much as the next guy  , but don't assume these good ol' boys don't know how to run in dirt just because they like the drive in circles all day! Many of them started off in sprint cars and dirt track- including Jeff Gordon.
And yes, that was a BS call last year. Buggers.
It's funny- Grand Canaria looks like a wasteland, but it also looks like more fun than Paris' Stade de France. Ah well...

Exactly. He's spent the past 2 years cutting his teeth on a full blown rally car and they can't even mention it??
It will be exciting to see how he matches up to Gordino.

US rally hardly counts for much in the rest of the world. Probably best to not mention it. I don't think he actually won anything last year anyway. Even though it was stuff like Freestyle Motocross he has won in the XGames.
Travis is going to have a blast I bet. Can't really have any expectations placed on him. He can just go have fun. If Gordon actually shows up this year be interesting to see how he does.

I don't think it's unfair with fairly equal vehicles. He's a great driver and I think it would be interesting to see Solberg compete.
Yes, I admit that Loeb is most likely a robot from the future and can't be beaten, but never know untill.......;)

Oh come now. A motocycle racer with maybe 2 years in a Grp N car in Rally America is more or less equal to guys with 10 years in the WRC and probably 20 years at the top level of rallying ? If this was true Travis would have beat Stig and Richard a few times by now. Their cars are all about the same. Travis may end up a really good rally driver but, he probably needs a few more years before anyone is going to put him up against Loeb, Gronholm, or McRae.

Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from SPEED TV. They'll probably show it sometime later in December..but will shorten it to a 30 minute show if the US don't do well.
Looks like the only way to see it live is have HD Net.

If you live near NY you're welcome to come see it in HD :)
You can probably get HD Net from your cable provider even if you don't have an HDTV. I know our cable box will downcovert HD signals for regular TVs. Might be a little late, but IIRC last year they replayed it about every week.

Loeb won of course. Scandinavia took the nation's cup. Gordon actually did pretty good. He actually beat Albers and Bourdais and Kristensen. I'm not sure why Kristensen went on and Gordon didn't. I was watching it one race at a time without any real commentary. Maybe someone that actually saw the thing in order can explain. Results are at http://www.raceofchampions.com/
Travis had a pretty bad day. Stalled on the line and hit a wall. Lost all his races.

Its listed under the US brodcasts on the official ROC site.
I think they are just using the international as an umbrella for all the ESPN channels. If you go to ESPN.com there isnt really a ESPN internation but, a mess of different ESPN's all over the place including our US one. I can't find it listed under the ones I checked but, the site doesn't even have a search.

Marcus Grnholm (Finland), after his rally drivers' final defeat against Sbastien Loeb (F):
"I didn't drive well this evening. In the wet it was very difficult and I had a big problem with understeer. I've been beaten by Loeb all year, so I'm beginning to get used to it! Seriously, though, I've had a great time tonight."

Jeff Gordon seriously got screwed. He got up to the semi-finals and was in the Renault Megane (of which he said he really liked) up against Dan Kristinsen who is an awesome endurnace and multi LeMans winner.
They lined up and Jeff's car wouldn't start again. The light turned green and Dan took off. I can't believe they didn't do a restart since it was NOT a stall on Jeff's part and was a mechanical issue. He didn't move an inch....but got it going after 30 odd seconds. I actually think that Jeff had a chance in that race and would;ve gone up against the crowd favorite rally-master Loeb. (Jeff would at least got 2nd, heh)
Anyways I was happy to see Scandanavia get the Nations cup away from France. Egstom and Kristensen are awesome drivers. (DTM and LeMans)
Racing was great in general..Thanks to HD Net for airing 4 HOURS of racing LIVE!!!

heheh. I just love the RoC. Such a cool event. It must be so much fun for all these motorsports greats to be out there racing in different kinds of cars and being able to hang out with these other driver's that many idolize. I remember when Jeff Gordon was riding alongside with Marcus Gronholm and marcus rolled his 206. Gordon get's out jumping up and down laughing that he just rolled with the the world champion! After that I had all the respect in the world for him. Also when he had the car trade with Montoya, where he got to drive his F1 car and Montoya drove Gordon's nascar. Gordon quipped, "we know who got the better part of the deal". He knows his racing is not top dog and you can tell he's knowledgeable and really appreciates and admires the other motorsports out there. cool guy.

And he's a pretty good natural driver to boot.

Back when I followed NASCAR religiously, I was an Earnhardt fan. Naturally I hated Jeff Gordon... but now that I've stopped watching NASCAR (and actually dispise it in its current form), I love Jeff. He's a very talented driver, who's path could have no doubt lead to an F1 ride if he would have chosen to do so.

Did someone find the torrent file for this?

Congrats to Loeb.
I agree, Jeff Gordon needs to get into another form of racing. But, the money is too good in NASCAR.
Who would have won this bet ? Technically he didn't crash out but, he sure put some dents in the car.
Finally finished watching it last night. I guess I should have made that bet. Ripping the bumper cover off = crash in my book :) Unfortunately, it seemed like he got a little tense in that race. You could see he was on and off the gas pretty jerkily, but was doing really well for the first lap.
Oh well, was a shame to see what happened to Gordon. He seemed to take it pretty well, but damn, what a stupid move by the organizers. They really need to go to best of 3 for the semi-finals or something like that.

I think the Frenchy's are still mad about our American Armstrong winning "their" Tour de France and did everything they can to make sure nobody touched Loeb in the final ROC individual event. just a theory of course....

If Gordon had won they would have just claimed he was taking race enhancing drugs anyway.
