Are the Bride seats on ebay legit?

They are priced at less than half of what vendors are asking for them. Just curious, because I'm in the market for seats.
| djcttb | 05-18-2004 08:08 PM |
seem pretty low of a price for what you get.
if theyre real, damn.
if theyre fake, got me.

Wow thats 2 seats...damn good deal or major scam..but then again the guy has 99.1 positive feedback

nevermind its 96% feedback
| lupohki | 05-18-2004 10:23 PM |
That pic seems to be just the stock pic that every place selling Brides has. He's gotten feedback where the winner didn't get exactly what was pcitured in the auction before, and the rest of his wares is all no name stuff.
Are knockoff seats know to exist? Do legit seats have some sort of identification?

I have gotten stuff from that person before and they were exactly what I had wanted.

The seller has many transaction under his belt. Not many of those are complaints. Most of the complaints are from $30 intakes that are "Junk". Well that doesn't suprise me and shouldn't suprise anyone. They seem to follow up on there feedback which means that they care about what they are doing. i think 96% is really good given the amount of auctions. I think a lot of people buy crap, get crap or buy something with no idea how to install it and then get mad at the seller. it has happened to m. Email the seller and ask questions. Also ask for a phone # to call them. If you get no answer then stay away. Don't pay with western union. the guy states all sales are final and "as is" There is no guarentee at all. You can't fault him for the "i got the wrong part people" he states right in the auction that he won't give you your money back. Read and ask questions and i am sure you can find out what the deal is. I thought the brix seats said bride down the middle but i don't know much about seats or bride as a company.

Price looks right to me...they retail for around $1,000...he is selling for $850...thats about 15% off, which is wut wholesale peoples pay for them...afterall, u will still need to buy the sliders and brackets for them, which will run u around $300 or so for a pair(driver + passenger)...
| uptownWRX | 05-19-2004 02:39 PM |
If anything, you can always ask him to take a pic of the actual seats before you bid on them. I have bought stuff from this person before, but it was nothing of this price.

That's $850 for (2) seats. Retail for (1) is around $1k.
Oh, there is another ebayer selling the same type of seats but he has actual pics of the seat. I'm a little suspicious of the "asia only" Alcantara material description. They look more faded than regular Bride material.

I noticed there were no bids on it. He COULD have a much higher reserve price.
I remember bidding on something before (not automotive-related), that was a great deal, but I went all the way up to around 100 bucks over the initial bidding price and it still kept saying, "reserve not met"

Luphoki,
Alcantara is ultra suede, If you brush it in different directions it will look like those look in the photo. the STI seats center section is like this but its not as apparent on blue as is black. I have an alcantara office chair :) and sometimes it gets my asscheek marks in the suede.. pretty funny till a coworker draws teeth on em.. oh my lmk if you get these does look like a great deal.

I know this might sound stupid and for all I know everyone knows this already but the auction price is for a single seat and not a set of two. The auction ended at a little over $1000 (plus shipping) for a single seat which is not exactly as big of a bargain as everyone is making it to be.

Which leads me to beleive what the hell is factory discounted.. dropped off a forklift, peed on, ripped seat..I'm all set..if its too good to be true it is..they are probably stolen thats why they don't have a box

Another thing is I can't find anywhere else mentioning Bride making seats of out the Alcantara material. Anyways, they look pretty nice even if they turn out to be knockoffs. Just hope they feel right.
| WanganRunner | 05-20-2004 07:17 AM |
Contact Bride USA, I'm sure they'll tell you. Every company actively wants to search out fakes of their product. If they're real, they can tell you, if they're fake, ask for a pair of Zeta II's for your turning this ebay guy in!
| del105 | 05-20-2004 08:43 AM |

my friend just got these seats. i honestly thing they are fake. no one in the US seems to know about the alcantara material. my friend at sp engineering said they asia didnt come out with that material. i think they're fake but of course i could be wrong. if it is fake, its the realest fake i have ever seen. i doubt anyone could sell real brides for that cheap. my friend paid 880 shipped for 2. i paid 1400 a year ago for 2 ergo's through a distributor
| elsanto | 05-25-2004 01:20 PM |
besides the material how is the build quality on them if you have brides also you can easily compare the reclining, sliding mechanism etc.. alcantara is a material they would use for a limited run.. its not cheap.
| lupohki | 05-25-2004 02:43 PM |
This thread also confirms that they are fake.
| ommmjido | 05-26-2004 07:03 AM |
dam i had my eyes on those too, good thing i didnt fall for them
even tho now i know that they're fake, they did do a good job at replicating them. except for the material, they look pretty real for some fake seats. now Bride gotta watch out, if they just change the material, it'll be even harder for us to tell the difference. :(

| aznatama | 06-06-2004 06:39 PM |
I think someone should compare them to a REAL bride USA seat... and then tell us if it's fake or not.
as long as the build quality is the same, I don't really care. It's not uncommon for manufacturers to sell seats such as the Sparco Milano's under a diff name for a LOT cheaper, but still use the same exact parts in it. After all, Bride doesn't own a factory that makes the reclineable seats, they contract it out to another company. So if these were fake, I'd have no doubt that they are the exact same seats, just not authorized.
Much like Class-A "fake" designer brands like LV, Gucci, Coach... same exact matierals, stitching, quality... just no serial number.
They're located in ElMonte, which is near me, and I asked them if I can do a local pickup so I can go check out the seats... I wondr if they have any left in stock? besides, I like alcantara better than normal fabric...

I dunno...these kinda look legit. Someone either went to a lot of trouble to replicate Brides or they are the real thing. I'd be willing to take the gamble at $700 shipped for a pair. They do look very real. I'd have to sell my Sparcos first. Anyone want a set of Evo's for $700? Like new condition. ;)

Ok, they are fake. Whats the difference between the fake Brides and the real Brides? As far as I can tell its just the fabric. And the fake ones have nicer fabric.
Compare these 'fake' Brides to any other racing seat. How do they compare? My Sparcos definately aren't worth the retail price of $1200 for the pair. I'd be pissed if I had spent $1200 on them. But I got a good deal since I bought them used. I know I could unload them for the price I paid.
They look like great seats, other than the fact that they are 'fake.' And that doesn't bother me too much considering the construction is the EXACT same quality.

Because they are not legit, they're fake.
Knockoff and replicas are one thing, fakes are another. There's all kinds of cwest "style" bodykits sold on teh internet. Yeah, they are marketed as cwest but do they have CWEST molded on them? NO, because they are not authentic
This would be the same as someone buying subzero's, strategically slapping some Racing Hart stickers on, and and selling them as CP-035's. How would you feel if you spend $2k+ on a set of what you thought were GC-06's and it turned out to be a set of Rota Downshifts with prodrive center caps?
Vendors hate this and its illegal, just look at what Kartboy is going through with people selling "fake" bushings under the Kartboy name...on ebay of all places!!11!!1
Dont buy fakes people

No, its not the same thing. But I'd be pissed if I was decived and spend a boat load of money on parts that I thought were original. However we know the seats are not original. And the seller is honest and selling at a very reasonable price.

They are already made and on the market. I don't think its immoral or bad to purchase the seats because I'd never buy a set of original Bride seats. They didn't loose me as a customer. They never had me.
I agree on the Kartboy bushings. Tom is a well known vendor on this site. I'd hate to see him loose buisness to a knock-off e-bay imposter selling for a few pennies less. However this is different. These seats are selling for less than a third of original Brides. Bride is a company that I have no connection with and I don't feel morally bonded to them.
Dont buy fakes people
Now give me a good reason not to. And don't tell me that I'll get what I pay for. I pitty whoever buys Sparcos at $600 a pop. NOT WORTH IT! I have a pair. I paid $600 for my pair of Evos. I thought it was a reasonable price for them and wouldn't pay a penny more. Anyone buying them at full retail is a fool. You can buy my Sparcos if you disagree. $1200 picked up. Like new condition.
A good reason not to buy these seats would be if they weren't as good. But we don't know that there not as good. No one has put the imposters next to the real thing to compare.

To be honest, the BRIDE logo doesnt look well centered. I would have guessed they were fake, but thats just my opinion, I have a good eye for fakes because I used to collect Air Jordan sneakers, and some of those fakes are so well made its very hard to tell the difference.

you get what you paid for even on ebay. Not always true but 99% of the time that's the case. So buy it from the good guys.

They may look fine, but the feel is where it really matters, right? I got a soccer jersey taht looked just like the real one for half the cost. Well, it feels like half the cost. I don't wear it because the little details annoy me, and I can tell it is a fake. Hell, fit is why I don't buy replica parts for my car. It may look good in photos or 20 ft. away, but up close you can tell the fit is off. I would imagine these seats are the same way. You get what you pay for. Luckily my soccer jersey was a $30 mistake, rather than a $700 mistake.

Yes ... these seats that are being sold through ebay are fakes! Bride has never come out with seats that are made of the 'alcantara' fabric. It is also on their site: www.tees-usa.com
Buy the authentic ones, you'll be thankful in the long run.

i worry about the safety issue. i know everyone hates how expensive the real deal is, but i can't help but wonder what will happen in a crash. is the money worth saving when faced with quality and safety concerns?
back in my honda days i once knew a fellow type-r owner who had jdm recaros in his ride, and he wrecked it in a rollover in a highway median. the forces were so great the seatback actually twisted on the hinges, but it remained intact, and he was still buckled in the seat... would these replicas perform the same?

egh, let's not go that far... these seats are on the market because there are people out there who will buy them because of cost. for others like me, we stay away because of concerns about quality and safety. we're not being forced to buy these folks... but just be aware of the facts beforehand.

Geez people, the Ebay auction says "Bride STYLE" not that they are real Bride seats. Stop screaming about how they are FAKE.. it should have been obvious they are "look-alikes" if you actually read the auction descriptions.

The OEM seats are the only way to go if you are that concerned with safety. You too are retarded for considering an aftermarket seat using your logic. Airbags save lives. Why would you remove an airbag if you are that concerned with safety? I am concerned with safety, but I'm just not as paranoid as you.
I found someone who had the 'fake' Brides and this is what he had to say:
How do you like those Bride seats? I was thinking about buying a pair. I just wanted to get someones oppinion on them before selling my Sparcos. Have you compared them to the real cloth Brides?
They look sick. Nice car all around. Good work. Sorry to see that you're getting rid of it.

They are great, but fit extremely tight! When you actually buy them, you will see that they have all the original labelling everywhere. I believed whoever made these pieces used the original parts and put them together. I got the original seat rails from an authorised Bride dealer and they fit perfectly.

Take it for what its worth. I wouldn't be fearing for my life if I had these seats in my car. It sounds like Versus would be. But what would I know about safety? I'm just a retard.
