Agreed wholeheartedly. :)

I do as well. It makes quite a substantial difference on a A-stock STi.
He has not run a Stock class EVO in any Tour events in 04, 05 & 06 as far as I can find.
Daddio will go fast no matter if it were an STi, EVO, or Geo. So no use bringing him up to use as any kind of comparison.

I agree, but you should direct that to person who originally brought him up and not rankink. (MattNJ2.8) :)

And then you should re-direct that to the original poster -rankink- who asked about any top driver competing in ANY STi. :)
I figured that for sake of this discussion Evo = STi... and you CAN find top level drivers in Evo's...so I would bet soon we will see the same in the STi.
And yes, Daddio is in SM. Watching him was made me want to but the car.

+10000
I realized that I was braking too late and had to trail brake into the corners and then I would turn the steering wheel to quickly and cause the car to push, even after Cusco bars.
I talked to the instructor and he told me to brake a little bit earlier and a little bit lighter and try that. It worked like a charm. Although it 'felt' slower, I'm pretty sure I was faster because I could get on the throttle earlier because the tires were still hooked up and now sliding as much.

No... see, it's all about the car. It's the cars fault I'm turning and braking hard before the apex at the same time.

No, because I meant STOCK class EVO/STI as the thread refers to. Not a EVO or STI in any of the modified classes.

Only now are folks trying. The S2000, the Corvette, Porsche's have been around a long time and have proven fast.
It will take time for someone to get fast in one of these cars. I don't think they will ever be the cars to have if it's dry. But there is no reason they can't be consistent high trophy winners and maybe better.
You won't see any big names in them for a while in stock. They'll have to prove themselves first, which is tough when there aren't any big names driving them. And frankly (and no offense), they aren't near as much fun to drive as the other hot cars. You can't really powerslide them and hold it for example. Where the speed of the car comes from is digging out of corners better. Winning and going quickly is fun, and they are cool cars. But so are the others in the class.

Sam, that's too well thought out, succinct, and reasonable. That has no place in a thread about speculation. Please remove your post. :p

Just to add my two cents, I started a thread like this after my first run in the STI, coming from FWD. Thought the understeer was unbelievable.
Deceided that adjusting the driving style had the most results and did the least damage to my pocket - Just hold it in the corner as long as you can, maintain your grip, and then bury it and the dccd take care of the rest - these cars don't like to enter a corner too fast - you'll immediatly notice an improvement in your times, and an STI with the back out is a lot more fun...
