thank you nomad...saved me from wasting money....so what kind of x amount of ohms resistor do i need to save my 3.6 volts leds from frying?

-thanks in advance

is there any way to make the angel eyes come on as the daytime running lights?
they dont' sell 12v led's
Oh contraire:

Now chances are they just have a resistor built into them, but regardless, they are 12-14V

Ok I had a huge, HUGE post about electronics theory, series vs parallel, and resistor calculation, over/under-driving LED's.

Instead I offer this:

From that page and the links on it you can become darn near an expert on LED's, formulation, color temp, and just about anything else that has anything to do with LED's

:D

Best idea I've heard yet for a complete circle was to use EL-wire. They make a thick version, but its still only 5mm. I've used it on alien halloween costumes before in teflon tubes for freaky antenna. I think I would still try to find a semi hollow clear plastic circle for adding the cuts if you wanted them. Biggest downfall would be the limited lifetime vs. LED's, second downfall would be the need of an inverter. Although small, its still an expensive piece (relative to the support equipment for an LED). I also remember reading the frequency of the AC the inverter produces can effect the color of the wire (and outside temperature might effect the color to some degree, although not very much unless you get to the thermal limits of the components). Anyway I'll give my source:

In heatsink and connectivity they have fairly small J-channel molding that might make it easier to install without the clear rod.

To anyone that wants to try this mod: BUY THE HEX SHAPED CUTRAIN ROD NOT THE ROUND ONE. I made one of each and the round cutrain rod couldn't reflect the light all the way through. The hex rod was twice as bright and the light went all the way around the circle.

Saw these at pep boys.. They werent that great but..they have em there. might fit your morrettes
anyone try 2 halves of tubing..and 4 leds per tube? might make it brighter..

Ya Know...If I had a Skyline GT-R (ha ha), then I would be working on this right now! That would look sweeeet! If someone has too much free time, try to find a pic of a R-34 at night, and put the rings on it. If no one has done it after christmas, then I will work on it some. I just don't have time now.

Edit: Someone want to try a halogen in a box connnected to the Halos by a fiber optic cable? Should be MUCH brighter. Simmilar to the new BMW deamon eyes.

I just finished mine and they look sweet! I put mine in the foglights. It's real easy to open up the fogs. Take oof the two clips on the sides and put em in the oven at 250-300 for 30min. Don't pry at the glass cover, even a little pressure will chip the glass, just put a towel over the back of the fog and put your thumb inside the housing where the bulb was and push from there. There are a couple of suport bars in the inside of the fog so it won't break when you push. I then built a curcuit to wire it up to my 12v car battery and I mounted a switch next to my cruise control. I used 2 200ohm resistors and 2 10ohm resistors for the curcuit. (I'm pretty sure it was 10ohm, if not that then it was 2 20ohms) I'm too lazyto do the math again so if you know what you're doing you can do the math.
Sorry, I don't have a digital camera so I can't take pics.:(

Also another way to remedy the U looking lights without trying to drill very small holes in the tube would be to make a circle and instead of touching the two ends of the clear tube together to make a circle bend the two ends back a little so it is still a complete circle but then it has the two open ends sticking back so you can tape the leds to the back side, sheesh thats hard to understand ill post pics soon.:D

Very cool indeed. (not dare doing it tho. :( )

FYI, if you can get ahold of a set, the Stock BMW angel eyes will fit the smaller of the Morette lights. Of course, you would need a light source. oh, and the BMW ring has 90 degree notches on the back side and a light source on each end.;) Just thought I'd share.

Has anyone tried this on the STi headlights yet?
