Finally Did It- Sedan Front End Swap! *PICS INSIDE*
Well, I finally did the front end swap. It took me a total of 3 hours to remove the wagon fender panels, bumper cover, bumper beam and splitters and reinstall the sedan fender panels, bumper cover, bumper beam and splitters. It looks very hawt....first nice day I'm gonna take the baby to the washy washy and take some pics.
Next step, I gotta save the dough to pickup my C-West front spoiler.

good work

any reason why you didn't bugeye?
jmonty 01-22-2006 11:59 AM

Looks very sweet!!! I am also wanting to do the swap on my 02 wagon. Are those the only parts you had to swap out? what about the liners? or the bumper? I also want to put a CF vented hood on and have it painted WRB at the same time.

jmonty 01-22-2006 12:07 PM

I see, and you didn't have to replace the bumber? where did you find the fenders...did you have them painted before the install?
BraveUlysses 01-22-2006 02:20 PM

How much did it run ya for the swap?
boost junkie 01-22-2006 02:21 PM

looks good! The C-West lip looks ghetto though, get a V-Limited.
WingNut 01-22-2006 02:32 PM

c-west lip on a wagon is too big of a paradox -- wagon with an overly aggressive look.

c-west is too F&F for me. :)
sonicsuby 01-22-2006 03:28 PM

How much did the moonroof cost ya? And does it leak?
Blk_on_Blk_Wgn 01-22-2006 04:18 PM

Honestly, not to hate, but I just don't think the visual difference is big enough to justify the amount of money you have to spend to get here. That being said, as long as you like it then it is way sweet.

This is coming from someone who has contemplated the swap since I got my wagon......

$700 for power sunroof and it has NEVER leaked!

Sweet car.
zmaster 01-22-2006 10:01 PM

thats the way the wagons should be designed to begin with....i love it...if i had ever got a wagon that how i would have done it....by the way was it easy to do the swap? and how much did it end up running? i would like to know incase i ever plan to sell my sti to get a wagon!
thanks buddy...ps..i suggest the v lip too..the c west would be a mis match with the car..
aspenw06sti 01-22-2006 10:15 PM

looks bad ass
pdxsilverwrx 01-22-2006 10:36 PM

Looks really good, if wagons came that way I might own one.
natoli4 01-23-2006 02:55 AM

looks good! loose that bug shield! and forget the lip..go with the v-limited!
garie 01-23-2006 03:38 AM

looks very very nice. big props to you for doing this mod yourself.

I agree...I'm not digging the bugshield visually and supposedly it'll mess up the airflow going into your hoodscoop.

The v limited, or cf replica is my favorite lip for the 04-05s.

ask Blk_on_Blk_Wgn to show you his ride. now that is a sick ass wagon w/a lip! i'm a fan of the sedan fenders as well. but i jus can't bring myself to spend that much for them.
mandangalo 01-23-2006 04:23 AM

sorry n00b here, but what exactly is the difference sedan-to-wagon?
Bishop 01-23-2006 04:32 AM

it looks weird without the rear flares.
spoolinsuby 01-23-2006 05:16 AM

The wagon looks sexxxxy :) Get the V-Limited lip, it is teh hawtness ;)

I'd becareful with those ramps. A local guy had a set break and another set buckled.

It ran me about $600. $250 for the fenders, $250 for the front bumper cover and $100 for the bumper beam. It only took me 3hours and I'm car retarded.

J-Rex2004 01-23-2006 09:29 AM

If you are going to paint it, then get a replica.
Siper2 01-23-2006 10:07 AM

Pretty cool job with the fenders. Looks a little odd without the sedan rear ones, but I guess that's a bit complicated. :)

wow!! that's the first i've heard of the rhino ramps breaking and buckling....
ScoobyNubieToo! 01-23-2006 05:38 PM
I'm thinking of getting one for my wagon. I think I can talk the wife in to letting me :o
and I've never noticed any frame twisting or anything but then again I never off road or autocross.

OK...This thread encouraged me to register and post! Where did you order these parts to do the swap..the dealer? Are they prepainted? Is that the original bumper? Is it now actually wider up front than stock wagon? Please let me know. By the way....very nice job!

Glad to hear that! I picked up the parts off fellow NASIOCers on here. I got the fenders and bumper beam from a guy who's WRX got rear-ended from behind and totaled. I got the sedan bumper cover from someone else on this site. And thanks for the complement! I'm glad to see so much positive feedback on this. In fact, I think I'll post some before and after pics.....

I've never heard of that happening before with Rhino ramps. I use mine all the time to change my oil.

And yes, the V-limited lip is pure sex. But I would like to see someone get it painted to match. I would think that would look pretty good.

Do you think the replica carbon fiber v-limited lip will look ok if painted WRB?
Roamin'Coyote 01-26-2006 09:09 PM

I love the V-limited lip. It's perfect for wagons. If you're going with some black accents, wouldn't hurt to leave it black. If you're going to paint it, then loose the bug guard and get some rock blocker. Leeberbs next to AZP did mine on the SAAB. I'll show it to you next time. It's not up close pretty, but it's fine from far away/pictures.

I don't reckon you need to worry about changing the rear - looks pretty darn cool with just the front swapped out.

:)
Blk_on_Blk_Wgn 02-12-2006 10:18 PM

So..are you going to get the V-limited or what?....I think a CF replica would look great.

Nice job. Plz post pics once you do the C west lip... I personally am waiting for some options for my 06

Why get a CF lip and paint it??? If you want to paint it I would suggest the E-auto regular V-Limited replica...either way it is going to look great...
