i have gone the last 2 years and i have never seen a subaru booth. where is it at?
WRX03 09-20-2003 07:58 PM

I hope you all have corral passes. I heard Subaru booth last year too, couldn't find one.

If anyone is going to the walkabout Thursday, chime in. 3 of us locals are going.
Bonzo 09-21-2003 02:00 PM

check the "corral" stickee above and also check in MWIC for more information about nasioc ppl attending.
larryg 09-21-2003 05:55 PM

I'll be there Sunday with the wife and my Dad. I am pretty sure we'll park in the Subaru corral. I think our seats are in the North Vista.

Larry
Subaruski 09-21-2003 10:16 PM

where is the subaru coral?
larryg 09-22-2003 02:47 PM

Last year, the Subaru Corral was just outside the road course but inside Indy turn three.

i was all set to go watch Schumi vanquish all comers again this year until i realized that Bernie E. and Tony G. are anti-semites  ok, perhaps not, but its still Rosh Hashana all weekend long...

Shame on you on putting your religion before the greatest church of all.......motorsports. In order for you to redeem yourself, you are now required to say 100 Hail Schumeys and sacrifice a goat at the next rally-x.
NJwrbT-WRX 09-22-2003 05:16 PM

I am coming in with my GF from NJ. We will be there on Thursday in the pits. Have tickets for qualifying and practice on Friday and Saturday. Have seats in J for the race and will be in the car corral. I am so excited I do not even know what to do with myself. I am staying in Rushville, about 50 minutes outside of Indy.

finnRex 09-22-2003 07:22 PM

Rosh Hashana is about this time every year...next year the F1 race is in June...besides, I am sure you can ask for forgiveness next week (Yom Kippur) :D

I have no intention of missing the race
TimStevens 09-23-2003 07:54 AM

I'll be there! Girlfriend and I are driving out from NY on weds, and staying with family who live a few blocks from the track

I'll be the blue WRX with gold RS wheels in the corral. I think we're up in the top of section H on Sunday, but will likely be just wandering around on Friday and Sat checking out different perspectives!

Look forward to meeting some of ya'll.

Arioch 09-23-2003 10:10 AM

My wifey and I will be there, and unless I get my new car before then, we'll be taking her 00RS to the track. Unfortunatly, we both have to work on friday, so we'll be leaving after then to drive to Indy. We're in the padock penthouse for the saturday qualify and races and for sunday. I'm so excited! I keep seeing comercials for the race on Speed, and every time, I get giddy! This will be my first F1 race since 84 in Detroit. Oh, how things have changed!

GO KIMI!!!!!!!!!

Bonzo 09-23-2003 11:26 AM

This will be my fourth pilgrimage(sp) to Tony's playground. I just hope the weather cooperates. I/we will be camping accross from IRP which is less than 10 minutes from the track. Arrival is planned for Thursday afternoon.
asquaredrex 09-23-2003 02:57 PM

I will be there along with my little brother (he's 14 years old and this is his first time going to a race... sniff, sniff...)

We're getting in on Saturday around 11 or noon. We have to pick up our tix at the box office and we have Corral passes, but I'm worried about the prospect of trying to drive right up to the ticket booth at that time of the day. May have to park outside and wander Saturday and join up Sunday.

Anyway, hope to catch some of you guys there. This year will be different from last year, where all I remember is a blur of one bar after another on Saturday night (can't do that with the little bro around!). If any of you are planning to hang out Saturday night away from the bars, let me know.

Oh, and I am doing the right thing and putting motorsports before religion. After all, it's Yom Kippur that counts! :D
TimStevens 09-23-2003 03:05 PM

Saturday my girlfriend and I will probably be stopping by the Speed TV party at Hooters downtown to meet the announcers. I'm sure there will be drinking, but we'll just be there to shoot the breeze with "famous" people ;)

Get hold of Josh "streetman" asap. He has several extra passes he wanting to give away.
NJwrbT-WRX 09-23-2003 05:11 PM

My pass never showed up either, so I called today and they informed me that they never sent it because I was out of state, and that I had to pick it up at the ticket office. So I am going to pick it up on Thursday, after I tool around the pits.

Going with Dad and Brother
Leaving on Friday afternoon from Milwaukee with my Dad and Brother. I have gone every year and unfortunately will be my last because of date change to June I will not be able to get away from work for 04. So I will enjoy it to the fullest. Won't be driving the rex though (no need to put miles on her and potential door dings) We will be cruising down in a F-150 extended cab, not real exciting, but safe. Hope to go to Fast Times Go cart indoor go carts Saturday night. See you all there! Go Webber! I like the Jag what can I say!
MulletSlayer 09-23-2003 05:40 PM

Thanks WRXO3 I'm going to PM him right now.
Streetman 09-23-2003 06:18 PM

Fastimes is closed for private parties only. Next year sign up early, and we'll be the private party. TOo late now.

I do have extra parking passes, if you need them. HOWEVER, I'm getting non stop emails all day requesting what to do, and how to do it. All the info is in that thread. If IMS can't get them to you, I am the LAST option. Please, don't make me first. I've really got a TON of people I'm trying to hook up already.

I'll post somethink I wrote up for Indy Nightlife. This is a cool city, if you get out and take a look. You can call if you'd like to meet up. However, the best bet is just to head to the Slippery Noodle on Friday Night. That seems to well received by everyone, and I know some people are going for sure.
Streetman 09-23-2003 06:20 PM

Dont forget about the events surrounding the USGP.

Monument Circle will be the site of two car club displays: Ferrari from 4-7 p.m. (EST) Sept. 26, and Jaguar from 3-7 p.m. Sept. 27.

http://www.usgpindy.com/schedule/

You want to be near Broad Ripple for the college scene. http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=W.uV7ep_0TqAUHWFBsFvkTRr5dEloZdy7hkUtWQWm13EDoHSq3IE4jg3.w--&csz=Indianapolis%2C+IN&country=us

Theres a ton of bars there, all up and down the streets. From High end martini bars, to total dives. Oh yeah, you might check out the Ally Cat. Voted by Maxim, or one of those magazines, as one of the best dive bars in the country. Total ****hole, always packed. Theres always a story at the Cat though. Just walk around, and look for drunks rolling outta an alley. Vogue is the closest thing youre going to get to a dance club. Wait, that night is a concert there. Sizzla and Turbulence. No clue who the hell they are. $22 to get in. The Eden is another dance club. More of a Freak scene. The Broad Ripple Brewpub has great handcrafted beers. Good pizza at the Union Jacks. Theres also a surprising number of hot chicks there on weekends. Dont know about weekdays. Landsharks is the place to be for the hook up. Lots of ladies. And $1 Coors, and $1 Well drinks on Thursday.

Downtown Bars:

Heres a list of everything, starting from downtown, and heading out. User ratings are pretty accurate, from my experience.

http://indianapolis.citysearch.com/search?topic_id=1215&context=restaurants_bars&cslink=cs_restaurants_bars_browse_1215&pseudo_constrain=sec

Friday Night is USAC Midgets at IRP. http://www.irponline.com/ Theres a lot of F1 fans who show up for it.

Also, the F1 tent party at the Slippery Noodle, Indys oldest Blues bar, and winner of The Blues Foundations 2003 Blues Club of the Year. Three stages, four bands, live recording, all for only $10. You dont want to miss this. Friday and Saturday Nights. http://www.slipperynoodleinn.com

Alrighty, Im spent. Call me if youd like. Im sure Ill be out somewhere this weekend.

I can't wait!

I went to Barnes and Noble to pick up an F1 magazine for the ride and I discovered myself "featured" in an ad for some ticket broker. My Jordan flag is flying proudly!

If you missed the pit walk through, you didn't miss much. Saw a couple drivers up close. Saw a trio of hot grid girls. Really hot outfits this year, finally.

However, WHAT A CROWD. To packed to see much, took over an hour to get through the traffic into the track. And a walk through was more of a walk around. Couldn't get within 20 feet of a garage.

Nice try Indy. Proves the point, you get what you pay for. Oh well.

At least I know the Noodle will Rock on Friday night.

Oh yeah the supercup race was intense too but i was disapointed that the 360s where no racing

i'll twist your words to suit my opinion. :)

i've been all four years at indy and i think this was the best yet because of the little bit of rain. ;) the rain is what made it so exciting. while "washing" my car in the corral, i realized that it always rains after i wash my car. this time, i was very happy for the rain. i took a whole mess of pics also. i'll post a url later.
Streetman 09-29-2003 07:08 PM

Very nice pic. Anyone got one with all 25 cars lined up?

That's a great turn out, better than last year. Next year, it's on again.

shoot me an email with your name here, and I'll just make an email list for when this gets done next year. Should be sometime in March that it gets set up, race June 20th.

Great looking pics! Where'd you stand to get coverage of the podium?

A friend of mine set this page up to host my pics:

Most of them stink but there are a few good ones on day 1 and 2 in there. I've got larger versions of these if anyone's interested.

as schumi crossed the finish line, i was rushing through the tunnel to get up in the upper tier of the paddack, right across from the podium. i *barely* made it. i wanted to get his trademark victory jump, but just missed it. in previous years, i've been on the lower tier but there are just too many flags waving to get many good shots.

Sure, PM me your e-mail and I'll send you whatever pics you want.

hmm. i'd thought it was film because you got several sequence shots (e.g. trulli on back complex or the mclaren pulling out of the garage). for trulli, it looks like you just held the shutter down and panned as he went by, getting 4 or 5 shots in close succession. very nice. my 4year-old 2mp won't do more than three shots in a row (at highest resolution&quality), then i have to wait, wait, wait. i'm about to upgrade also. we've got only 9months tho'. :)
TimStevens 10-01-2003 10:23 AM

My cannon has a sequence mode, can take a couple of pictures per second for a few seconds. Fills up the memory card real quick, but makes for great sequences, like that of Trulli going down the back straight.

If only I'd kept him framed better when his brakes were glowing

ah, in "burst mode" or something like that. will it do it at the highest resolution & quality? that brake glow shot is great! i got some at the end of turn one on friday, but i was sitting too high to get a nice bright glow.
TimStevens 10-01-2003 01:02 PM

Yep, pretty sure it's same quality. Definitely the same size. It's a pretty handy feature :) Now if only it would take pictures that quickly the rest of the time
WRX03 10-02-2003 10:41 AM

I'm real happy with my tiny Canon S400. Once I started using the view finder instead of the display, I can take some good shots. This wasn't even at the highest settings and full zoom.

yeah, that's where i am now also. i was looking at the nikon 5700 or equivalents (sony's f717, canon g5, etc). but maybe i can sell my children and get a D1X or something. :(

btw, there is a new firmware upgrade for the s400, as of yesterday. visit www.dpreview.com.
