French GP part 2

finnRex 07-04-2005 12:42 AM

Initially I was surprised that Sato was actually running 4th(somewhere around there). Then I remembered that Takuma will do something stupid and redeem his reputation for messing up. The dude would be good if he didn't try too hard. Too many bonehead moves.

I would have enjoyed seeing Kimi and Alonso fight, but with the new engine for Kimi, he had to play catch up. Silverstone should be an interesting week. My boy's feelin' jiggy and he said that he really likes Silverstone. Go Kimi!;)

Funny story from F1.racing-live.com:
Ferrari wins at Magny-Cours," No that is not a typing mistake, as the Ferrari boys won something called the Pinewood Derby. This event is famous in the USA and requires teams to design and build miniature wooden cars out of a small block of wood, four nails to use as axles and four plastic wheels. There is a maximum weight and the cars have no power source except gravity over a downhill course. Ferrari and a few other teams entered, the Italian squad producing 3 beautifully built machines and although they won, it should be reported that they did so by the smallest of margins beating cars designed and built by ten year old American boy scouts based in Paris. In a bizarre case of art imitating life, Minardi walked away with a special trophy for building the slowest car.
Unfortunatly, I missed the race as I was on a beach at a lake for the long weekend. Not a bad reason to miss a race, but still wish I could have seen it.

...wish I had a Tivo right about now...

Other than trying to guess when and how Sato would mess up, the race wasn't that exciting. Fernando rocketed off from the start and was nowhere to be seen (I don't think he ever lost 1st place). If you could digitally redo the race to make FA's car look like MS F2004 and KR's car to look like RB's car from last year, it could have been mistaken for many races last year. That being said, I still watched the entire thing and enjoyed every minute of it.

Good point about the lack of excitement.
I have always said that there are always good battles going on somewhere in the field just not always at the front.
