GC8 Headlight Options?

hey all,
other than stock and projector style headlights, are there any other options out there for the gc8 (01 RS sports coupe)? pics of my car at http://homepage.mac.com/kstiggger/PhotoAlbum18.html and links on top of the page, keeping in mind i will be swpping out all the orange lenses and changing to trial r bumpers asap. looking at these projectors ( http://www.streetstyler.com/ABSDProjectorHeadlights.htm bottom of the page) as one idea, looking for other options as well, if possible, including cf. thinking of doing eyebrows as a possibility as well. please post options. thnx.

from another thread i have
from another thread on my mod.
preheat oven to 225....5-7 minutes in there pry the apart..dont forget to remove the metal clips before hand, as weel as the bulb and rubber boot....start prying them from the insides, ie part that touches the grill....its easier....the unscrew the frame and paint with high temp spray paint.....let that dry and redo backwoards...to be on the safe side you might also want to use some silicone///
and yeah clear silicone or even black are okay...try to stay away from white...

there are no projectors for the GC8....dual reflectors yes, and the morettes, but unless they are custom made..there are no projectors...you can try to retrofit the low beam projectors from www.rallylights.com and then you would have projectors...
| KSs2001RS | 10-08-2003 03:07 AM |
so how much more light over stock do the reflectors give you?

Its actually pretty easy to retrofit projector housings into those cheap dual beam lights. Someone on here already did it because his lights broke. You can find Hella OEM for BMW project units w/ hid ballasts for under 300. Its a risk, but i bet its pretty easy to do with a little mcgwyver skills.
| SpamMansXe | 10-08-2003 12:12 PM |
i have bad McGyver skills...someone want to do it and explain it for us! :D

:alien:
Seriously, those look silly in comparison to the morrettes. Plus the build quality is not exactly very good.

Speaking from experience .. do not get the dual beam cheap morrettes unless you change the lights... the lights that came with mine (i thought i was getting real morrettes considering i paid 300+ for them) cracked. So unless your going to change the bulbs i would stay away from them

See, I'm doing a whole front end conversion on my car to fit the 97-00 lights. YOu can see the dual beam conversion at Revolutionmotorsports.com. I'm thinking I will just go with those.. But who knows..

There's a company that will take apart your headlights and put in Audi HID projectors although it is very pricey $800-1200. I think the company is called HID2000. They do mostly Hondas and have pics on their website.

Yeah, I've noticed. After giving it much thought. I'm thinking I'll just stick with the stock headlights or go crystal clear on them. All I'm hearing is bad news about the twin beams..
| SpamMansXe | 10-16-2003 10:21 AM |
you should at least upgrade to the crystal clear ones...dont stay with the stock 93's...
| Dre2932 | 10-18-2003 02:32 PM |
Hey Spam, you know where I can get the crystal clears for a good price?
| SpamMansXe | 10-18-2003 06:51 PM |
i would just post it in the WTB section. I have a set of them for sale, but they were shipped once and UPS didnt handle them very well. As far as i can see, there is nothing wrong with them other than inside there are a couple pieces floating around. If you were planning on doing the headlight mod (recommend if you have crystal lights...looks sweet) then you could easily take the floating pieces out. Ive looked and i cant see where the piecs are from. I dont have my car up and at my house so i havent tried to plug them into the car too see if they work still. If your interested...holla!

| SpamMansXe | 10-20-2003 09:48 PM |
well i wasnt planning on taking them apart seeing that i dont feel like doing the headlight mod to lights im not going to be using...but they will defintly come out if you take the light apart. PM me an offer...thanks!

I'm not sure if you've seen my car's setup. Corazon carbon twin beam with replica trial front bumper. Carbon hood.
http://www.pbase.com/scooberoo/modified_impreza2000
I had an accident last month, and i damaged my twin beam and the bumper. hood was cracked in the middle. I now have the car in stock mode. I was too lazy to look for my sales receipts for the parts so the insurance can replace them.
It was fun driving the car though.

car looks sweet bro...you should get it back to that style. Where did you get your lights?
| scooberoo | 10-23-2003 02:55 PM |
i got the corazon lights at intensemotorsports.com last march 2003.
I do not recommend them though. It took a month to get my order. I made so many phonecalls to them, and they barely reply. I had to call my credit card customer support to have my money refunded or have intensemotorsports guarantee the item was coming. Another thing, the corazon twin beam carbon fiber version might not be in stock anymore.
the lights i have look like the one posted in this thread, but I'm not sure who made them. i got the lights for $265
i would recommend the original morette twin beams. just save up for it.
