Subie owners are invited to an "i-club meet" on Sunday, May 26, to watch some of the finest ( Subie ) drivers, many with one or more national championships to their credit. Richard West, 2001 STS class ProSolo champion will be defending his title in his familair '99 RS. 2000 STS National champion, Brian Priebe, will be competing in SM in the CobbTuning WRX along with car owner, Chris Fleming. Eric Kreimelmeier, Eric Carman, Will Conklin, TR Hoppe, Keith Casey, Karen Krause, Larry and Kim Fine are some of the other notable Subaru drivers that will be competing.

Park in the designated i-club area, watch the competition, meet the drivers, and pick up some Subie stuff at the Subaru tent !!!

Be sure to take a look at my post Bad Day for Subes Things are looking grim for us :(
dwx 05-05-2002 09:13 PM

Why would that have anything to do with these guys running ProSolo? These are past STS national champs, not the same guys running in your event... Good luck to everyone at the ProSolo event.

Phil
KC 05-05-2002 09:31 PM

Thanks. :)
Opie 05-05-2002 10:35 PM

I will try to keep the back end behind me this time! :D

Well, as the PRO will also be at Topeka as well as the National, then it would be good for them to know what is going on elsewhere - cause they might have to compete againt them. And some regions have better drivers than others, so if they know a particular driver (from past Nationals or PROs), then they can compare how they might do against these guys.

Sounds great! Ill be there, I look forward to meeting everyone.

pleeeze; somebody get Karen a superu ride !!! we need steller performers showin' the way  . . . ( watch out guys  ! ! ! ) Karen; forecast is for rain all weekend; what good would the Camaro be anyway - even if it were dry; which it won't be . . .
Chris F 05-07-2002 12:38 PM

I'm looking forward to this one. Are we going to park in the same area? I should get out there Friday morning. Should be interesting, this is our first Pro of the year and there ahve been so many changes, it's practically a new car;)

See everyone out there.
forecast is for rain all weekend
Where did you get that from? Its more then 2 weeks away
rlp 05-07-2002 08:27 PM

Chris, et al . . .

On Sunday, i-club meet ( non-competitors ) will park on grass just outside entrance to pit ( look for sign identifying specific area ).

Competitors will be in pit area; may be tough to secure "Subie area" in pit but we can check into it Friday & give it a shot . . .

Give us some feedback, SUbie drivers; y'all want to rub elbows in the pits ???

TR; come-on now, you actually believe the "official" forecasters know anymore than we do what the weather will be later this month; they can't even predict what tomorrow's weather will be . . . just tryin' to get Karen back in a good car . . .:D
trhoppe 05-07-2002 09:47 PM

oh....
I'm dumb...sorry about that.

I had a brainfart.

Maybe its because for once in my life I DONT WANT rain!
I have a brand spedankin new set of 215/40/16 hoosiers waiting for Larry Fine :) and I don't want Mr Rain spoiling my chance to use them!

I guess because of this it will rain.
:alien:
Opie 05-08-2002 11:58 AM

I should be there fairly early on Friday...I'll try and "secure" a spot for us Scooby guys in the pits! Hopefully under the shade like last year.

Uh KC, he is referring to a Mr Rain, not a decal. And so that makes me think just who is in a pic holding a decal, and its raining????
KC 05-08-2002 01:42 PM

C'est moi. :D Really, it is. (I know he's also referring to how well Larry does in the rain)
I know he's also referring to how well Larry does in the rain
Actually IMHO I think I'm a really good driver in the rain. I actually did very well against him at the last event we raced at in the rain.
I'm just banking on it not raining this time, which is why I bought hoosiers. I have a set of half worn kumhos as my rain tires, but they won't be nearly as good as the full tread set that I raced him on the first time in petersburg.

I was just saying "mr rain" trying to be stoopid. :alien:

But also KC, I will be mad at you if you bring your "Pray for Rain" banner and it rains. My "Pray for Rain" magnet is staying on the fridge at home. :p

on a complete side note, I found out that fridges make GREAT magnet storage. My fridge is the new official "rice boy" fridge. Complete with Hoosier AND Kumho sponsorship!

This should be a great event. STS is looking like it will be a HUGE class. I have talked to at least 15 people that are coming. I can't wait. See you there.

KC, bring about 254,345,675839 Pray for Rain magnets :)

See you there!

BTW, a dorm room fridge is too small to store ALL your autox magnets. Believe me, I tried!
tailout 05-12-2002 12:31 AM

Is there still time to register for this event ...the Prosolo that is ?
tailout
Opie 05-12-2002 12:46 PM

Go here for registration and event info: http://www.scca.org/amateur/solo2/prosolo/2002/petersburg/index.html

You can register at the event if you wanted to pay a late fee, I think you can fax in your entry by Thursday of this week and pay the regular price!
Chris F 05-13-2002 07:39 PM

I just went to the SCCA site and they updated the entry list!

Looks like 16 Subie drivers so far!! and pretty well spread out, 3 in STX, 4 in SM, 4 in STS and 5 in DS. This ought to be a good one!

Anyone know if there is a decent place to go to dinner Saturday night? Any plans?

Chris F
Crosser 05-13-2002 09:17 PM

Hey Chris,

Do not bother going out to eat on Saturday night. Team Underdog is sponsoring a big barbecue as they have for the last couple years at the petersburg event. It is always a fun time rain or shine.

See you there,
Eric Carman
KC 05-14-2002 11:24 AM

I've heard stories about their cookouts.

Don't forget... you MUST wear a Hawaiian shirt to partake in the festivities. :D

I'll be there.

KC 05-15-2002 08:33 AM

I've spoken with the management.

They'll see what they can do not to have rain. It goes against my contract as I must have my 'Pray For Rain' banner on the car, but as long as I take it off before the cookout, all will be good. :D

Revised entry list is up. 187 entries. That is up from last season. Looks like some great drivers will be there.
Dussander 05-16-2002 01:22 PM

I'm so bummed I can't join you guys. But it's probably best I try my new struts in a little less public display. ;)

D Stock seems to be very unpopular around my area. Even the Type-R drivers seem to be moving on to other vehicles. It has been really hard for me to get the Impreza owners to run. I really need a good Suby driver to point me in the right direction.
trhoppe 05-16-2002 01:51 PM

Looks like they capped it at 190 people.
If youre not on the list sorrryyyyyy

:)

Looks like DS will be lotsa fun.

Here's the Details on the Sat Nite Cookout:
FOURTH ANNUAL TEAM UNDERDOG PETERSBURG PRO SOLO COOKOUT!!!!
Somewhere between, "mistakes are best repeated" and "Lightning never strikes the same place twice" lies the logic behind the Fourth Annual Team Underdog Petersburg Cookout. That is right, we will once more put on the Hawaiian shirts, fire the grills, thumb out collective noses at the sky and pay homage to all things Underdog.

The "NEEDS 2 KNOWS"

WHO: Everyone is invited, regardless of income bracket, prior bad acts, position in class, age, religion, etc. Yes, even Canadians are welcome. Bring the kids, bring the pets, bring your Mom.

WHAT: The TUPPSCO, as it has come to be known, started as a way to avoid eating out during the Petersburg weekend. It has grown to be the largest unsponsered, on site social event of the National Solo Season. This year's menu will feature Beer Brats, Beer, Brats and Beer. If you would prefer a Coke, we can do that. If you require vegetarian fair, Shoney's has a Salad bar, tre bien!

WHERE: The Team Underdog Racing pit. Look for flamingos, tiki torches, grills, Hondas, guys (and maybe even girls) in Hawaiian shirts. If that doesn't get you there, follow the conga line.

WHEN: Saturday, just after the last car leaves impound, just before Noah finished building the boat.

WHY: Because we like you.

DRESS CODE: Hawaiian shirts, if you do not have one, Target is ready when you are.

PRIZES TO BE WON: There will be traditional underdog prizes awarded for: Underdog Spirit Award, Best Hawaiian Shirt, Best Mike Johnson Impression, Best Dirty Joke (yes, we have a high school male to judge), and Best Beer Coozie. Contest may be added and deleted as we think them up.

DONATIONS: Per the usual, donations to the Underdog Foundation will be collected. The Underdog Foundation has been helping underprivileged, overgrown children compete in top level Solo events for the past five years. Without your help, projects like the TUPPSCO could not happen.

WHAT TO BRING: Feel free to bring any food if ours doesn't suit your taste. Desserts are always welcome. You may want to bring a chair, perhaps an umbrella.
KC 05-20-2002 02:47 PM

Also, at 7PM on Fri nite is a Welcome Party being put on by Subaru.... I think it would be in our best interests to show up, yes? :)

KC 05-21-2002 08:00 AM

I think Spam is only good for them Cal'fornians. :D (Didn't they sell it Live at the Hollywood Bowl years ago?)

On topic: I'll be there in 3 days. :D Wheeee.

I just noticed the mention of a Subaru-tent. Does this mean shady/rain-free pit space for Subaru-racers? :D :D :D

That would be incredibly awesome!

Or they could just sell Subaru merchandise which would still be cool, though not quite as much. Anyone else really thinking a "team" tent would be a great idea?

I see "Partly Cloudy" on both days per Weather.com
