PR: Jamie "Subie Gal" Thomas Wins 2005 Western States Rally Championship

NWRegion/Western States Rally Championship - Doo Wop Rally - For Immediate Release - March 2006
Rally driver Jamie Thomas along with navigator Matt Gauger started their 2006 season off right by winning their class at the Doo Wops Rally day 2 which allowed them to also secure their 2005 Western States Rally Championship. The much needed points allow the team to retain their championship from 2004, back to back PGT Class Championships!
The Doo Wops Rally is held on the northern coast of rugged Washington state. The terrain varied this year from compact snow to ice, mud, tarmac and everything in between. This is the first rally of the season for the team and is always a great way to kick off the cobwebs and get the rally ball rolling as the rally is simply so challenging. Survive day one of the event, you make it to day two with the famed "Brooklyn Tavern Stage" - a fantastic section of road which flows through the hills and allows rally drivers to understand just why they love this sport so much. Jamie and Matt completed both days, earning 2nd place on day one and 1st place on day 2 with a 4th overall finish for the weekend (out of approx 45 competitors).
"These roads are tough, but they can be great fun and are the perfect way to start off the year." stated Jamie Thomas, team owner/driver, "My biggest battle of the weekend was shaking off the nerves. I have not raced since September of 2005 and I was a bit hesitant to go out there and give 110%. It took a few stages for me to have total confidence again, but everything seemed to just flow all weekend long."
"Jamie was on fire. Sometimes she just doesn't believe that she can drive," laughed Matt Gauger, team co-driver, "She set a fastest stage time on day two, with bad tires.... you should see what she could do with new tires."
Burnsie the Rally Wagon performed very well thanks to his newfound skid plate from AllWheelsDriven . The team ran on old, used tires, but still set blazingly fast stage times and the car performed just as expected. This is just the beginning... much more racing to come in 2006.

i have a set of silvers. there was a set of goldies on ebay late last year that i wanted for teh other Impreza but the bidding war got out of hand so to speak. would have been nice to have matching gold/silver Speedlines, 5 spokes and Rota formels for all season coverage. had to settle for some Compo MOs.
oh well, beat on 'em like they owe u money!

Does this not inlude the Doo Wops results? Did Chris Wilson end up qualifiying? Why didn't he qualify when you had both run the same number of events?

that does not include the Doo Wops Results
add 100 to my total (wish they'd update the site grrrrrrrrrr....)
And the rules of the Western States Championship
are that you have to run at least one out of "region" event
I'm not certain, but I think that Chris opted not to run an out of region....

And if you add 100 to your points you beat him outright anyway, assuming he didn't run Doo Wops and get like 2nd or something.

Congrats, Jamie! Nice to see a wagon out there representing! Also very cool to see an old-timer like me (30+ on here it seems! LOL) that's totally into Subarus! You got some time on me though, just got my Rex about 18 months ago (though had been drooling about buying one for 2+ years prior to that!)
Hopefully will get to meet you at one of the events sometime... won't be able to make the deal at PIR this Friday, but planning to go to the big rally down in Hilsboro next month.... will be my first time attending (just as a spectator) :disco:
Take care!
