If you were to paint your subie, would you keep it the same color? part 1

Red04WRX 05-12-2005 04:51 PM

If you were to paint your subie, would you keep it the same color?
I'm sure plenty of people have thought about this. every time I see the HUNDREDS of paint chips on the front and sides of my car it goes through my mind. It would be great to have the car repainted, and it would be the easiest to go with red again. and that's probably what I would end up doing. teh color is a little on the rare side. but I originally wanted black and I've wanted a totally blacked out car (black car, dark tint, black wheels) for a long time. if it didn't cost a zillion dollars to have the whole thing done (engine bay, trunk, etc, etc) I'd probably do it :o
waktasz 05-12-2005 05:22 PM

Maaco ambassador paint service $299!!
Red04WRX 05-12-2005 05:26 PM

What makes it an "ambassador" paint service?

I'm half tempted to get the beater done up that way... dont know if I want to take the wrx there :o
russd32 05-12-2005 05:29 PM

Please No.

There used to be a place around here called Earl Scheid Painting or something like that and they would paint a car for like $200 or something. The bad thing is that they don't do any prep work. They just paint. So if you bring it in with emblems and door handles, it all gets painted. Then a dude with a razor blade takes the paint off of the glass. Needless to say, super nice.
maxpower45 05-12-2005 05:42 PM

No, I'd go with the "Pewter" silver color (not sure of the name) of the last gen Supra if I could...it's a pants creamer if you ask me.
eminehart 05-12-2005 05:58 PM

I would have to use the Orange from the mazdaspeed protege.
SeattleWRX 05-12-2005 07:20 PM

I would do pearl white from the cadillac.
slowscooby 05-12-2005 07:22 PM

I am a big fan of british racing green.

Then again a quality, long lasting world rally blue paintjob might be nice as well.
Davemeister 05-12-2005 07:27 PM

I'd paint mine the blue color of the Subaru rally cars.

Oh, wait... :D

Yeah, I'd pretty much do the factory color. I might jazz it up a bit, but I've always been a sucker for a nice shade of sapphire blue.
ruskiyab 05-12-2005 07:34 PM

Steel Blue Mica
Layman 05-12-2005 07:38 PM

The only color I'd consider changing to would be that BMW gray somebody on here has.

Otherwise, BRP > *
express_wagon 05-12-2005 08:20 PM

i'd do the 1998 RS green color too, not the sexiest color but has a nice stealthy and classy effect, especially with my 98 goldies
Thumper23 05-12-2005 08:40 PM

since its already blue, I'd get it WRB again, except this time, not with the crappy Subaru paint

but if it was greyish, Ferrari grey baby
IronMonkeyL255 05-12-2005 09:33 PM

I like Mazda's Nordic Green Mica.

If I were to get mine repainted (which should be soon. Parents said they'd do it for my b-day last year...), I'd go with a different shade of red. Probably just get Sedona Red, as my current color is just a flat red......
95legacy 05-12-2005 09:50 PM

I just dropped mine off monday for paint, keepin it the same color just getting a better clear coat.
Peace,
Kyle
Homerisking 05-12-2005 09:50 PM

I would never paint my car the same color after seeing this....bmw color

DeezNutz1833 05-12-2005 09:56 PM

Mango Orange!!!
Homerisking 05-12-2005 10:01 PM

Why is it whenever someone mentions orange I think of F&F?

...you'll blow yourself up kid
DeezNutz1833 05-12-2005 10:11 PM

Thats a bit darker than mango orange but its close
TGITI 05-12-2005 10:22 PM

I've wanted this color for the longest time.
ChrisL2 05-12-2005 10:42 PM

My CGM would become Sedona Red if I got it repainted. Red + Gold = Hot = Tickets out of your ass.

Ok, maybe that isn't such a good idea.
TEKNOSYS 05-12-2005 11:03 PM

I so wish Subaru still offered Yellow after '03, I would've got that. If I somehow find some free money, I'll paint mine a nice shade of Yellow
Kontradictions 05-12-2005 11:39 PM

i think i would paint my car...

Richmond WRX 05-13-2005 12:10 AM

I like the silver color of the s203 on the subaru japan site. Im not sure if its the same silver you can get on an sti or not. I think its a special color that only the s203 comes in but it looks realy good on the subaru site.
ashumo 05-13-2005 03:14 AM

lotus chrome orange...thats hott
nyngbld 05-13-2005 08:54 AM

I love my JAVA Black Pearl. Only when I have her clean that is. Damn this Indiana weather and the AWFUL road conditions.

same here!
eminehart 05-13-2005 11:08 AM

i had a similar metallic gray color on my CRX it was gorgeous! It had like a dozen layers of clearcoat.
missdawn 05-13-2005 11:19 AM

Hmmm... that is hot!

But I still think I'd go with Aspen white for that stealthy, below-the-radar look
audio1der 05-13-2005 11:25 AM

Nope,... Id go flat black.
GC84ever 05-13-2005 12:02 PM

I love my BDP. It's not very common.
But if I had to change I would take the sonic blue from the 22B. I know not very original, but blue is my favourite colour.
wht052.5 05-13-2005 07:20 PM

I would do that DARKKKKK graphite. I love my CGM though.
Jasper 05-13-2005 10:14 PM

theres a lambo black pearl that i absolutely LOVE, not sure of the exact color. its basically a black undertone, with a maroon red pearl over it. makes it look black from a distance, and as you get closer, it becomes this incredibly deep shade of a reddish black, i cant even describe it. its, just.....oh god. sooooooo perfect.
smooth_ej20 05-13-2005 11:36 PM

I love my PSM but, If i had the money and i might soon, id paint my car the color that Endless paints all their race cars. It is such a sick looking blue. Either that or the Reflex Spice color from TVR.
Capt Crunch 05-14-2005 12:30 AM

ferrari titanium silver
Red04WRX 05-14-2005 01:40 AM
I so wish Subaru still offered Yellow after '03, I would've got that. If I somehow find some free money, I'll paint mine a nice shade of Yellow
I'd love to see a sonic yellow 04...
DieselClown 05-14-2005 10:18 AM

I'd dip my car in chrome. I always wanted a chrome car.
STi-Spec C 05-14-2005 12:47 PM

i would paint my car with that M5 concept color the black underneath the silver. it looks black in the shade and some angles and siver in the sun. the chrome is a good idea cause it'll help with radar prevention.
MBREX02 05-14-2005 01:11 PM

I love those 03 yellow bugeyes! I would repaint my car that canary yellow color and get some JDM sidemarkers and headlights! MAN THAT WOULD BE SWEET! If not yellow I would go Aspen white with gold wheels! :D
svek 05-14-2005 01:12 PM
Maaco ambassador paint service $299!!
ambassador means they mix the clear coat and actual paint coats together. meaning worst looking paint evAR
Thumper23 05-14-2005 01:18 PM
ferrari titanium silver
that's the color I was thinking of
ghostfoot7 05-14-2005 01:18 PM

Definitely, I would do a custom paint job if I could afford it. The paint on the 02's just isn't up to par, although I do like the WRB.

Probably a custom candy apple red or something a bit darker.. saw a custom EVO in a mag painted that color and it'd look sweet!
twizzstyle 05-14-2005 08:25 PM

My car is black, and has scratches, chips, swirls EVERYWHERE. It looks great when its clean and doesn't have direct sunlight.

I've always wanted to paint it a dark dirty reddish-orange. Like Honda Pilot orange, that would be sooo slick. A gunmetal or dark graphite would be my next choice! :D
xEJ20x 05-14-2005 10:37 PM

I would love to have flawless white from House of Kolors. or Subaru's Aspen white.
BoostdScubaru 05-15-2005 01:57 AM

i dont know how many of you guys are in ohio, but i do paint and bodywork, and i would do a full repaint on a WRX for $2500 including materials... just an option for you guys wanting a nice custom job...
projectrally 05-15-2005 07:32 PM
Why is it whenever someone mentions orange I think of F&F?

because it's gaudy and tacky, just like the film. ;)
wrxedya 05-15-2005 08:28 PM

Definately would NOT!!!

waaaaay too many WRB's running around.......

I would go with a BMW color as well.....

Techno Violet.......

almost bought a techno violet M3 instead of the WRX and fell in love with the color...

or flat black

andrew
wrxedya 05-15-2005 08:31 PM
the chrome is a good idea cause it'll help with radar prevention.
actually you would be the most radarable (if thats a word) car ever.....flat paint would be the best for radar prevention.....
Blue Rabbit 02 05-15-2005 10:14 PM
candy's are not good for daily cars exposed to the sun candy will fade quick by comparison to others. super hard to match for repair work.
ebeck 05-16-2005 01:03 AM

Painting mine now actually. Keeping it Sonic Yellow just like it ame with. Just putting a proper paint job on it. I would never send my car to Makko. With paint and body, you absolutly get what you pay for. No question. I am probably paying way way to much given it is a WRX and not a new AMG.

Just a thought, in the mid eighties Porsche had a real neat color called Meteor Metalic. I had my Porshce shot in that back in the day. I have to say, it was superb. Kinda grey, kinda violet, but not. Definitly unique. Got comment after comment after comment on it. Not too flashy but stood out. Factory Porsche Meteor Metalic.

Also Ferrari Fly Yellow would be a top choice or the M3 Laguna Seca Blue.
Butt Dyno 05-16-2005 07:24 AM

Steel Blue Mica if I was totally starting over..
kirkeemonster 12-10-2007 02:08 AM

Laguna Seca, or keep WRB. Or maybe like a deep purple

And holy mother of god bump from 2 years ago. LOL
truenosan 12-10-2007 02:19 AM

i would paint it the gray off the evo MR's
i really like that colour

I would NEVER bring my car to maaco. think about it, $400 paint job... the supplies alone are almost that much.

but then again, maaco would be using single stage paint
SubieWReX 12-10-2007 02:25 AM

Idk I'd hafta say Aspen White. It looks so damn clean... I wish that they still had the aspen white for the 07, but instead they switched to that pearl white which looks way too sparkly.
mugenXP 12-10-2007 02:38 AM

black..? hmm... as much as I would like to say NO, I probably would still keep mine black.
shoefean 12-10-2007 02:39 AM

I'd love to repaint my SRR this orange!

it takes experience to do a paintjob that will come out clean and look clean for years to come..
blu05wagon 12-10-2007 03:06 AM

ive been thinkin about painting my car legend lime from the ford mustang
impreza_GC8 12-10-2007 04:32 AM

Def. some JDM color.
Feather white, Steel blue mica (Impreza P1), or that sexy old school STI yellow.

I did have someone ask me once if I had my car repainted a different color. But it was just really really clean and the guy didn't know much about Subaru's.
