Just Got My New Prodrive RB5 Wing Today!

I ordered this 3 weeks ago and just recieved it today. I guess thats Prodrive for you. Anyways, the wing is beautiful. The craftsmanship is top notch as expected. I wont be able to mount it for a while since my cars in the shop but I will have it painted very soon. Check it out:

damn, so many goodies for me to consider. Im glad to see that more SRR WRX'es are showin up modified. Gives me a lot of ideas for mine. All i care about right now is getting an STI hood scoop...
Just a quick question, have you considered having a shop wrap the blade with carbon fiber and leaving just the pillars bodymatched? Yea i know first thing to come to mind is evolution wing, but i still think it would look good on our bright crayola red.

I agree, I think the red EVO look gorgeous. I considered the Scoobysport with the insert but went Prodrive in stead.

I have been putting off ordering this wing from subaruxtras.com till I see it installed.

How much was it?
Scoobysport is around $900 IIRC and the Kaminari one is similar.. those are my faves, but this one should look wicked as well. I have a replica (wings west)
Being that it's a Prodrive piece, I shudder to think :)

Its somewhat reasonably priced at $499 :D Someone mentioned the Prodrive logo and I was under the impression that the end panels had the Prodrive logo molded in but mine doesnt?

Yes it bolts right up into the original holes.. So their website says :)

I just got off the phone with Tim at Prodrive and he confirmed that there was a last minute change and the molded logo is not being used. They do however provide stickers for the endpanels. They forgot mine and will be sending out a set. It is dissapointing, that was one of the features that convinced me to buy the spoiler, oh well I guess stickers will have to do.

The reason that the molded Prodrive logo is missing is because, in fact the spoiler you have there is not the real thing.
True Prodrive products always have the Prodrive logo embedded in them. I would question this further. Much further. Find out where exactly this wing was made, by whom. Doesnt look to be the real thing to me. Looks to be a very nice knock-off. Good Luck.

because I can buy the Prodrive wing for 500 and have the horizontal piece carboned for 150. that is still cheaper than the Scoobysports piece and it is authentic Prodrive.

whats with the lack of a brake light? the rb5 wing on all gc8s had a high brake light in the center piece. was it discontinued for the newer model wings?

The wing was originally designed for that car and just recently re-designed by Prodrive for the GD series. As to why the 3rd brake light was not included with this variant, who knows. I am sure the folks at Prodrive have a reason for it. i will try to find thepic of the test fit of it on my MY02 before it went to the carbon and paint shop.

I had the old wing on my 99RS coupe and transferd it to my 01RS Sedan before I got the WRX.
It did have the logo engraved in both sides which made people not question the autenticity(sp?)

I think the major part about the engraving is that the original RB5 was manufactured by Prodrive UK while the new one is a Prodrive USA product.

Ever seen the Prodrive Driving Light kit? It's simply a repackaged set of Hella FF1000s. No molding, sticker, or anything to indicated Prodrive other than the box and the instruction set.

yeah, my g/f had the prodrive rb5 wing on her 99 rs and it was engraved as well. the new style is still a nice looking wing. just sux they didn't engrave it.

Looks like the RB5 on their site just has a black prodrive sticker. I'd say the SEMA wing was prob a 1-off piece at the time.

That is a possibility. But why would you change the mold after just making one piece? Especially if you were going to market it as a "Prodrive" piece??

There was a post about the prodrive engrave thing awhile ago and a prodrive exporter said that indeed it's not engraved in this model

But this product is an indeed genuine prodrive.. Check a thread out in the gallery with a guy who's new San Remo Red WRX got wrecked. A prodrive exporter from the UK cleared things up with the logo in theat thread
