Looking for diffuser type rear body kit part 1

Torch 11-23-2004 12:39 PM

Looking for diffuser type rear body kit
I have everything but the rear section of my car picked out and was looking for something that looked like a defuser. Sort of like the factory rear section of the body kit but a little more aggressive.

I have tried searching but got frustrated looking through all the threads that had nothing to do with what I was looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Torch

Edit: I have an 02 WRX PSM

Edit: I was looking for something like this...

for what year?
if you have 05 model and looking for diffuser type rear, ings kit could be one of your choice. :)

I have an 02. Do they offer anything for an 02.

I wonder how hard it woud be to make something like that fit.

hmmm
scoobyless 11-23-2004 06:12 PM

u could do an 04/05 rear end conversion.... just need the tail lights and maybe the side trim that the new 05 comes with...

take a look at the Aust OEM and the Syms. They aren't diffuser exactly, but are a similar style.

anyone got more photos of the car in the first post (IAC)?
that car is gorgeous
Ace009 11-24-2004 01:38 PM

Orciari makes a rear lip with a diffuser. Check out airbornemotorsports.com.
Although, I think that INGS kit is really nice. I wonder if that's a full rear bumber replacement.

Was looking on subaru.com at the '05 WRX and didn't see the trim piece you mentioned. I'm assuming you're talking about the trim piece over the rear wheel wells? So I looked for it on Ings website and didn't see it there either. I kind of like that piece, makes the car look a little wider. Anybody know where to find it?
ChrisL2 11-24-2004 03:13 PM

You could get the Subaru OEM rear diffuser.

I have thought of that but I do not like it as much and it has been done on a lot of cars.

There has to be something out there that will work. :(
'05 STi has the trim piece.
Interesting I can kind of see it on the website. As it's hard for me to make it out on the website, is that trim piece a stick-on unit or is it molded? And if it isn't molded, can it be had?
pdippel 11-25-2004 10:48 AM

It's more than just a stick-on; It's purpose is to make the rear wheelwell wider for a bigger rim/tire. So it must also be part of a different quarter panel, or at least a trimed panel.

+1 and maby a little bigger ;)
GoRacerXGo 11-28-2004 10:03 AM

i once saw a pic from some japanese car show that had a custom rear carbon lip, but i guess whatever company decided to not mass-produce them. if the demand for them is shown, maybe some vendor in the states will be willing to make one. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!

Still looking for a rear diffuser for my 02 WRX, does anyone know if anything new has come out latey or who I could contact to have one made?

You guys should try the Aussie OEM kit. Also known as the EGR kit.

I have the full EGR kit on my car and its nice.

Only problem is its pretty rare...

let me know if u guys need pics

I realy like the one in the link torch posted. I wonder if the oem one would look close to that if it was molded into the bumper.

I called and asked and they said they do not have plans to make one. I told them if they did I would definately buy one.

I cannot believe a item like this is so hard to find for the WRX considering how long it has been out compaired to the EVO.

Vostok 7 03-31-2005 04:14 PM

Yeah I could really use one. I'm going to do alot of high-speed racing this year and could really use something to clean up the air back there.

I've also emailed Vishnu about it. Maybe if they see there's some interest they'll do something. I'd be willing to travel to Cali to help them out :D

I went with the Cusco/Subaru kit on my STi. It's a Cusco bar and parts kit that allows you to install the 2006 STi rear diffuser to any MY Impreza.

I almost ALMOST went with the H Kansai Service diffuser 'cause it rules. APR will have one coming out soon as well.

I know it has been covered, but go OEM. I had an '02 WRX and I had it on my car. Not that many people had it in my area and I really liked it. It fits great and looks classy, not overdone. I like the diffuser look too...I thought about the APR CF diffuser for my 05 STI.

The problem with this is that the OEM pieces are not functional. If anything the OEM rear lip makes underside drag WORSE. If just for looks, then yeah, I agree but if you need function (like I do) then you need something a little more.
