This is the limited Edition car that was at Tokyo Auto show. That suspension has NOT been around. You have a link thatgoes to Rallispec's site showing adjustable STI struts,..but not these,.these are the new STI GD version8 coilovers. This car also has the "v" limited frony lip spoiler on it also. E-mail me and I'll give you pictures of all this. I have a thread in the Suspension AND brakes forum, as well in the Vendor fourum. Do a search,..there is alot of info on the parts. The latest buzz in Japan is the Recaro seats that come in the front AS WELL the rear of this car. But those adjustable struts are very new, just released in Japan on FEB 15th.

That rear will be available,.but not in carbon,...this car will be like the s202 in the sense that you would have to have a seriel # to but these parts,.at least right now. For example,.to buy S202 parts right now,.you HAVE to have a seriel #, that corresponds to the car. I mean I have offered to buy serious quantity of S202 parts, and my supplier is like ,.."NOPE"..so STI is strict on this stuff. The same issue with the front lip spoiler that comes on this car. Its carbon also,...the carbon version of what we sell,..but it would be $ 1500.00 is sold in CF. Now,...thats not to say that there isnt anyone out there(cough -cough) (extra cough syrup) working on a CF replica........................

Same here. Right after it was announced at the Detroit Auto Show, i put my deposit down the day my dealer began accepting them. Once the STi was announced, i knew there was a chance of the Lancer vs. Impreza war being fought on American soil. Sure there's the possibility of an improved model being released every few months in order to one-up the competition. And, Yes, i took this into consideration when i put down my deposit.
i feel proud being one of the first to put down money & take delivery of the first batch of US-Spec STi's. Not only have we helped bolster Subaru's confidence that the US Market is ready for such a monster car, we've sent them a message that paves the way for even better future offerings. Same goes for the '02 WRX buyers. Thanks to them, we now have the STi. And to the 2.5rs owners before them, thank you!
So, if for the 2005 model year there is a US version of the STi Spec-C... fantastic! The money i've spent on my '04 STi will have made its voyage here across the Pacific possible! Personally, though, i wouldn't expect anything from SOA until MMA makes their next move.
As Meridock said, we can always trade-up.

Ok, here we go,...lets just say the 2005 STI comes with .........
1. deep bolstered real Recaro seats
2. front "v" limited spoiler in CF and rear spoiler in CF
3. new adjustable STI coilovers (see my thread:) )
4. upgraded steering wheel with escain!!
5. 350 hp twin scroll 2.5 (rumored, nothing more)
6. larger rear sway bar
7. front mount OIL cooler (aka s202)
8. BBS "RE" ( coming march 15, sorry another plug)18x8 wheels
9. lite weight rotors ( again aka s202)
10. matching Recaro seats in rear with bolsters for rear passenger
IF, this happened, it would be GREAT,..but,.SOA,..aint doing that, and if they did the car woulod cost 40k easy !!
Maybe a 2.0 litre twin scroll spec-c with roll up windows and braided lines, group- n mounts, and group- n brake pads, would be a good starting point.
But that limited edotion Sohlberg silver car,..very pricey, and very nice.
So here is where the heat will come from,..if the wrx is a 7 and the STI is a 10,.then this new car is a ??? 15..maybe,...think about it,.STI has touched every part of the car. Ok maybe a 12,.........whatta you guys think,.....ok,.start flaming.

I agree with you Myles that you may never see a car like in the US because the cost would be to high. When you consider that my SPEC C LTD cost almost $55000 here the UK you can imagine what this car would cost. People here are used to that kind of pricing but the US market is not. Most people dont realize how cheap the US STI is compared to the rest of the world.
| iv30 | 02-25-2004 03:10 PM |
Oh and I personally would pay over $40000 for this car because once you drive a non normal spec STI with a twin scroll turbo you realize how good they are.

Hi Myles,
I am interested in some of the parts off that car. Let me pick your brain a little here:
This is the limited Edition car that was at Tokyo Auto show.
I was at the show, I asked the STi representative about every part that is not stock on the car. Other then the parts that are already available now, all the other stuff are for show only, it is a one off type of deal. It is not a limited edition car, it is just a car STi made for the show. The only parts that will be available is the coilover and he said possibly the rear spoiler, but they don't know yet. All the parts on that car is under study. I am very interested on the aluminum lateral links on that car.

So do Recaro offer those same seats? They look REALLY exotic  But they are pretty tight for me :( If they sell a seat that look like that but is slightly bigger in size, I would buy them.
8. BBS "RE" ( coming march 15, sorry another plug)18x8 wheels
Those wheels on that car is 18x8.5 with a +53mm offset, which is perfect in my opinion. All the other 18x8.5 wheels on the market have either +48mm or +45mm offset, which stick out too far IMO. Do you have any infos on these wheels? They look very much like the BBS RE, but are they "exactly" the same as the RE? I am not too sure from looking at the picture of the BBS RE.
Also do you have any plans to offer a replica of that little piece of carbon fiber in front of the rear wheels?
Thanks ahead for any infos you can give me.

Dude's response about those parts, is like a politician's response before he is elected. Taken with a rock of salt, let alone a grain !!
1. can you say,.s203?...think about the history of the show and how they showcase things.....everthing that we get now, was at one point shown at Tokyo A.S.,...
2. Recaro will offer those seats first in the UK and then in Japan, and of course, then here,.say 2 years..
3. BBS re they are,.did you see 8.5 on them?...if you did thats great ,.but the
US will get the 8.0 version, with a decent offset ( 50mm), I have sent my BBS re picture to Japan and from 3 sources, yes, same wheel...yes 235/40-18 will work. eso with 50mm offset.
4. I am working on a replica maybe of the front spoiler, the side parts in front of the rear wheels,..not sure yet....
5. the aluminum lateral links are coming, just a matter of time. Just like I new about the STi coilovers in July,.the alloy lats and trails are coming,.as are the lite weitgh rotors,.previously s202 vin holders only. 2.5 twin scroll just a matter of time.(with Japan internals)
6. The front spoiler in CF is the best Carbon work I have seen since the tub on the Mclaren FIA GT car !! its like the Eifel tower the first time you see it,.....WOW !!!
Some of those things made it to the Sohlberg edition and its time for the next special performance model from Subaru,..its due in 6 months,..so save this thread and lets compare notes in August !!
How about this,..what if,.they are working on a 6 piston front caliper with a 330mm rotor,...so thats some news,....lets see if thats on the next special edition car. s_ _ _:)
Last but now least,...they dont waiste money developing something that isnt going to make it onto something, or in a parts catalog,..and its not like its for competition developement,..Banbury (Prodrive) does ALL od that. So just keep that in mind about what dude said at the show.
just my .02 cent worth,....

Yes the spec sheet on the windshield say they are 18 x 8.5.

Thanks for confirming it. 18x8 +50mm is nice, but I really want 18x8.5 with 245 or 255 that can fit inside the stock fenders with -1 degrees of camber. Do you happen to know a set up that would work, I am really skeptical about all those 18x8.5 with +45mm or +48mm and 245, 255 tires will fit inside the stock fenders.

yeah I have been seeing pictures of the STi coilovers and the aluminum lateral links in "Impreza magazine" and the "hyper rev" for ages now. How long does it take to develop something!! I have never seen or heard about the aluminum trailing arms though. If is true, that would be great, as I am a weight saving freak :p

Ok, that sounds like fun. It is always fun to see how accurate of our prediction is.

6 pistons would be nice, I doubt it though....... 330 mm is only 4 mm bigger then the current disk........ plus from how little room the current set up looks, any bigger brakes probably require a bigger wheel.

Very true. The only reason I can think of is cost vs. market demand. Anything is possible with enough time and money. But if something is too expensive to make and no one is going to buy it for the high price, then they won't make it. For example the front lip. MINE's offer an absolutely perfect, beautiful, breath taking dry carbon fiber front lip for the R34 GTR, the MSRP in Japan is 390,000 Yen  How many people in the world do you think is going to pay $4k USD on a front lip for a $31K car...... maybe 5...... I don't even think many GTR owner is buying that lip.
It is always great fun to chat with someone that are into the same stuff :) Maybe in the future you can help me with sourcing hard to get JDM parts ;)

Jeff, I just Pm'ed you. The set up needed for 18x8.5 with that offset and 255-18, regardless of 40series or 35's would be at least -2.0 degrees front camber and realistically 3.0 negative, the Jun yellow WRX runs 255s with 3.5 front negative camber,...so maybe not a track and street setup heh?...maybe a 245 and 2.0 degrees nagative,..there is a basic formula for offset, tire width, and nagtive camber,.havent used it in a long time, but just basics.
Yes ,.I can make every possible attempt to source the JDm stuff for you, just let me know,..one hand washes the other.;)

Sorry Myles, I don't think I reply you on this post.
yeah I am trying to figure out what offset I need to run a 18x8.5 with a 255 tire and have a -1 degree of camber for daily street driving. My educated guess right now is +53 mm offset. What do you think? I need to look into it some more. My plan is to roll the front and the rear fender lip to as flat as possible. Anything more then -1 degree of camber is not acceptable for me as the STi is my daily commuter, I put a lot of miles on her.
Thanks!

Thanks, I will consult Luke about this. But really all I got to do is get my butt off the couch and look at how much room I got in the wheel well, it is not rocket science, it is just a measurement :)

Jeff, just delivered the first set of these wheels tonight. The customer lived 2 hours from me and since UPS could get them to him to him until Monday, we drove up and installed them, in the Harrisburg rain and snow. He loved em, and we loved seeing them on the car as well. I have another set, and I sent you pictures.
