| cstratton04 | 07-29-2005 01:52 AM |
get a pic from further away. that is a good way to add an accent color to the exterior.
| ganderson155 | 07-29-2005 02:01 AM |
I did that for my 05' wrx but in the front...I got the screw in tow hook from the tan bag that comes with your car.... on the 05' it's located behind the pass. side fog light cover shroud. all you have to do is drill a small hole where it would be located... Don't forget to paint it racin' red! did this mod on my buddy's 02' this evening... drilled through the plastic flap.. It look's super sick!! would have pic's but the rides in the shop!!!
| David Medina | 07-29-2005 05:59 AM |
mine wouldnt fit when i installed my hitch. but i figured i wouldnt need it.
| djerickd | 07-29-2005 10:27 AM |
Meh, I did that in 2001 to my WRX with blue paint :D
| thrdeye | 07-29-2005 10:32 AM |
Shoulda painted it hunter orange. Has to be orange on Rally and Road Race cars.
| TestPilot | 07-29-2005 10:37 AM |
painted mine black, but the next time my father sends his race car stuff out to be Ceramic Coated it's accidently slipping into the box. Chrome baby chrome

From what I have read this can cause your airbags not to deploy if you are hit in the front. Something about the sensors not getting the correct readings.

No offense, but I don't see why everyone is so enthusiastic about this; isn't it just painting a random unimportant, barely noticeable part of your car?

Why do we have a tow hook on a car that will have its differential destroyed if towed??

It's actually a tie-down. Use it to secure car to flat bed when it's being hauled around. Having the car fall off the truck around corners is not good. ;)

Yeah, that's what it says in the Owner's Manual. Seems a bit overly cautious.
HUNTER ORANGE on the color. Really? Maybe colors don't translate well, but all of the tow hooks I've seen appear RED.
The tow points on the back of my wagon are no longer there because I too have a hitch mount that necessitates their removal, therefore I would like to have a more permanent tow point on the frontend.
Red or Orange?

Orange looks more red on TV and maybe in a photo. At least that's what "they" said a few years ago about the Ferarri F1 team changing their colors, before they went Marlboro red. It looks more orange in person, but looks the proper red on TV.
Wasn't there an internet vendor selling replacements that looked more like a (thick) sheet with a big hole drilled in it, one that looks more like it belongs on a race car than a street car. I saw it once, and never again, it wasn't TOO much, maybe $75 or so, but looked very, very nice.

I don't know about the vendor, but I did see one that was mounted to the left strut tower inside the engine bay. Downside was that the owner had to hack a hole in the hood large enough for the "eye" to poke through.
Anyone anxious to give this a try?

If you get a chance to see an early Ferrari next to a newer Ferrari (not necessarily post-Marlboro F1, even the 333SP shows this), the newer ones have a noticeably lighter shade of red.

ok so i was bored today and just painted it...when i get a chance ill get it powdercoated...it came out real nice...the red accents on my car are showing up so much better with the 05 tailights
| sheepdog | 05-11-2009 01:54 PM |
I bedlined the towhooks on my GC when I did the wheelwells and stuff. Turned out nice, if I ever end up with a bit extra red bedliner I'll probably do that instead of black.
Also, whoever was doing the one touch up/down windows, they're the ****! Kind of a pita to install with having to run wires through the door harness into the car, but totally worth it.

I did exactly that a while back. It came out pretty good.

The only thing is the threads on the one smaller screw may have to be chased if powdercoating gets in there.
I'm hoping it will be good enough for track. I still have to address the front as the OE hook is too small.

I'm pretty sure most track regs are 2" inside diameter tow hooks. Although whether this applies to weekend warriors and random track day cars I dunno.
