Plan your own trip.
1. It's cheaper
2. You have more control/flexibility

I planned my own trip to Rally New Zealand last year and it was awesome.
The only thing I kinda screwed up was the hotel, it was about 8 miles outside of town, but we had a car, so it wasn't that big of a deal.

Just booked flight today into MEX and setup the car rental. $390 for the flight. We are staying overnight in Mexico City on Wednesday (flight gets in at 10) and then driving to Leon on Thursday. Still need to find a hotel.

My phone worked great in Leon. Didn't work at all on the stages I went to. I didnt go to them all though.
AT&T wireless had a special package for Mexico that made it a little cheaper to use too. They got bought by Cingular so no idea now if they still do.
You still have to dial Mexican numbers like you were in the states. Got me worked up a bit to type in those 100 numbers just to realize I got one wrong and have to type em all in over. Took my 5 minutes of trying to get it right to get thru to Mexico City once.
BTW, I can't help with floor space but, I'm 'supposed' to have a SUV down there. Might be a ride to stages availible especially if they wanted to share the driving.

Excellent, leaknoil. Just the type of info I needed. Much obliged. Cingular has the same deal - I just used it at the Baja 1000.

If you've never been and want to see what a stage in Mexico is like I put up a short clip at HERE . Its a three minute editing job and very heavily compressed bit of footage shot on a broken tripod but, it will give you the feel and let you see how everyone stands where ever they want.
You have to have the latest quicktime installed to watch it.

I arrive at noon on the Sunday the 26th. I'm staying at the Real de Minas Poliforum. Have we agreed on a NASIOC meet and greet time and place? Let's make sure it doesn't conflict with the recce/competition schedule. I'm really looking forward to meeting all the NASIOC folks.

btw, Rally passes go on sale tommorow thru ticketmaster mexico. They're offering a new one this year. A VIP pass. Wish they had a no crappy kids backpack pass. There is a superspecial stage this year too.
I'm guessing $75 for the rally pass and $500 for the VIP pass if they do the usual bad exchange rates.
Rally Pass:
Free unlimited fare on all Shuttle buses
Reserved area at the Alhondiga Ceremonial Start
Unlimited access to the Poliforum Service Area and Rally Village
Unlimited access to the Grandstands at the Superspecial Stage
Reserved area at the Rally Finish Ceremony
Commemorative Back Pack (with rally memorabilia)
VIP Rally Pass:
Free unlimited fare on all Shuttle buses
VIP Bus to the Ceremonial Start in Guanajuato
Reserved seating at the VIP Teatro Juarez Official Ceremonial Start
Unlimited access to the Poliforum Service Area and Rally Village
Unlimited access to a Hospitality Suite at the Superspecial Stage with
exclusive shuttle bus from and to the Poliforum
Premium Reserved area at the Rally Finish Ceremony
Commemorative Back Pack (with rally memorabilia)
Entry to the Closing Mexican Rally Fiesta (drinks not included, except Kids
VIP Pass)

Subaru launched a new SWRT site. That's cool and all, but the "subtract 1 from the filename trick" for big pictures doesn't work anymore. :(
| leaknoil | 01-16-2006 04:02 PM |
They have a new seperate media site too. I think all the high rez pictures are only there now
