[B] Doubtful with only 2 drivers.. but hopefully we can at least beat the Pugs.

All the teams only get 2 point scoring drivers this year and I believe that they have to declare which 2 drivers will be points eligible before the rally.

What a nail biter!

Great finish! :D

Awesome race ! The best one yet this season.
On to Cyprus !
Rattler 04-19-2004 12:13 AM

It sounded like Petter filled the swearbox in their car judging by the in-cars they showed on Speed tonight. He was really letting them fly.
skuttledude 04-19-2004 09:28 AM

Great Race. Petter pulled thru. I was really wondering after he had that off-where he busted his power steering and lost a bunch of time.

Also good to see Gronholm get a good "finnish" after terrible luck with the Pug in earlier races.

Goood Job Petter!
T-WREXX 04-19-2004 10:04 AM

Yeah Petter!!! Keep on winning! :D
Dr. WOT 04-19-2004 10:07 AM

That is a nice touch of class by Petter to dedicate his win. I love his style of holding back the pace until late in the rally, very mature beyond his years even. I must also say that was quite a rock!!

From a bad start to 3 measly points back, how quickly things can change.

One other though it Leob is not the championship contender he needs to be until he proves he can win on gravel. Speed alone is not enough.
mordy_2v 04-19-2004 01:24 PM

Petter is funny. I'm liking how he's answering reporters questions after the stages :D
catass 04-19-2004 07:34 PM

YAY PETTER! I love how at the end he doesn't even know if he won. Oh and I watch on speed, where did the old announcer go? This new guy is so quiet and level and boring. The old guy was so much more "enthusiastic" about it.

I wonder if his mom is going to yell at him again

Ok! It's time for WRX'd Reviews. Now, I was flopping back and forth between the Sopranos and WRC so I caught about 70% of it.

#1 Sebastian Loeb sucks at teh golf
#2 Skoda looks fast IMHO, no reason why they shouldnt be
#3 So, did the Mille Piste system work? I Havent heard much with everyone being so vocal prior to rally time.
#4. What? Gronholm gaffed bare metal and didnt expect a sliced hand?
#5 NZ looked pretty green for late fall, you say?
#6 Possum stage, how nice
#7 Those cambers are killer,
#8 Daniel Carlsson is "Mah Man!!"
#9 Mmmkay, so Harri was spot on, now he gets the shake on teh tarmac?
#10 Speaking of the 307, did they uprate the gearbox?
#11 This was the spottyest coverage EVAR for a WRC event (Radio, event dashboard, TV)
#12 Bob, nice try commentating, but once a american broadcaster can pronounce "Citroen" Let it be.
#13 Why is Mikko bettAr than Tommi? He seems to take care of the equipment, AND FINISH.
#14 Excellent resolve by the man in teh #1 car.
#15 Who planted that rock there?
#16 Did Petter look "spent" all weekend or what?
#17 Hats off to Pirelli.

:)

How about if Nicky Grist pronouce Mitsubishi properly? Or, in his word, "Mitsubushi" ?

2 for 4. Whoopie frickin' doo.
Hopefully his first 2 DNF were just part of the learning curve and he can have more finishes.
Smart_alek 04-20-2004 03:26 AM

"Did Petter look "spent" all weekend or what?"

In the latter stages that could be attributed to that giant rock that knocked out his power steering. He half joked that he had been lifting a lot of heavy weights lately, so that helped him out with the lack of power steering.

Also, the changes to the recce system have not been kind to the teams. Phil Mills looked just as bad as Petter. Everyone in the Speed coverage looked beat up from the beginning.

Great rally IMHO -- one of the better ones I've seen in a while in terms of competition.
asquaredrex 04-20-2004 12:20 PM

Awesome Rally. Ask Marcus or Marko or Seb if they can win and they'll say maybe, depends, etc. Petter, in pain from driving without power steering just says "yup" and walks away. Love it :D :D
Kuro 04-22-2004 11:19 PM

That's awesome news. It's good to know that the new car can do what it's suppose to do.
