Wow..........just wow. I for one am going to miss him.

maybe he is gonna go race NASCAR too.

Great race, sucks for Alonzo though. He was coming up the pack pretty nicely. Oh, and what a pitstop!!!!! Intense.

It was a great race. Sad to see Schumi going after the end of the season. He is an amazing driver and I think with Jean Todt and Ross Braun also possibly leaving Ferrari could be a bit slower for the next year or two.
| StuBeck | 09-10-2006 10:39 AM |
Brawn's already out for next year. Todt will probably leave too if body language tells you anything.

Shumi out, Kimi in. McLaren have got to step up and build a faster car.

Wow, sad to see him go. Sad I missed the race too.:p
EDIT:
Oh, wait. Are we talking about the Monza race? If so, I can just watch the replay later this morning on Speed.

Did you see how Schumi snubbed the Fiat/ferrari guy????
Schumi, Todt n Braughn should go to Super Aguri :D
Glad to see Taku finish a race for once. Sad to see Alonso go up in smoke. Nice drive by Kimi n Kubica. :)

I got a good laugh out of that too.
Sucks for Alonzo though, the man was driving his ass off and his pit crew was on point.

Yeah the Fiat guy was so on his jock it was hilarious...trying to hug him and make it look like one bike happy family. The announcers were calling the guy out as well.
Yeah I was bummed when I saw that smoke out the back of Alonso's Renault. I want him to win again...unless Taku can pick it up a bit and win for Super Aguri.
:p
Thanks for all the memories Schumi...from the Benetton era to the prancing horse days, you are the bestest we've seen to date. :D

Probable. Mclaren will need a much better car and a decent second driver to be any real threat. As an aside, don't forget about Kubica. That kid appears to be a dynamo.

Yeah. There's been a huge thing going on in Europe about banning cigarette ads on television. IIRC, I think that Marlboro is still the title sponsor of Ferrari.

I suppose I understand... but it's kinda sad because I had become so used to seeing the Marlboro sponsored Ferraris.

I think MS has driven somewhere around 245 races. I think I've seen probably 220 of them on TV and at least 12 live. I saw him race Senna, Prost and Mansell.
Michael, thanks for the great memories.

He will definitely be missed... I was hoping he would tough it out another year so that I could see him race at Indy or Montreal... no luck.
Anyway, regardless of the criticism he/Ferrari recieved I think the way they went about it was as good as it could be. I did hear that Ferrari somehow released their driver line-up (without him on listed) before his announcement... but otherwise I give it 2 thumbs up.

I will definitely miss him as well. As great as the "new generation" drivers may be, I don't think any comporable to Schumacher. Even more, I don't think any of them share the passion that he does (at least, none of them show it as much as he does.)

I may have been on of smallest fans (he's had many "moments" of stupidiy).
But either way you look at it, h is the greatest champion F1 has ever seen.
I only hope the sport has somewhere to go now that he is leaving.
Here's to ya Schumi, ya did a hell of a job.

I would be very suprised to see him drive in another series like DTM (although I was suprised when Mika ended up there). From whats been said so far, I think its safer to assume that we'll see MS in more sporting consultant positions at Ferrari for the time being.
Perhaps later we might even see him with his own team...
(hopefully not like Prost's or Stewart's)
