Shift knob design =(

I got rid of a 2005 Civic 5MT when I got my 2006 WRX and I gotta say that my only complaint has been the size/shape/feel of the WRX's shift knob. I thought at first that it would just take some getting used to...but that doesn't seem to be happening.
My question to you is this...how many of you have swapped out the shift knob, and what have you replaced it with. I know, I know..."do a search" but I'm trying to gauge current opinion...
Thanks.

I ordered a new knob before I even took delivery of my car. I got the MOMO that looks exactly like the one Subaru offers. In hindsight I wish I would have just gotten the Subaru one as it screws on rather than clamps. I don't know why the cars don't just come with this knob, it matched my 04 steering wheel perfectly.

get the "OEM" made for subaru by MOMO shift knob. matches the interior perfectly, feels great, throws well. shouldn't be an option. should come stock in the first place.

if only we had a six speed...but that one does look really nice. a lot of people recommend the legacy knob since it feels more "luxurious" and looks oem. i have the kartboy circle and it sucks. it really doesn't fit your hand at all, awkward.

Yea its S2k Shift knob, I know it has the #6, but I don't care. I don't look at the shift knob when I shift. However, it does feel good and it's freaking heavy =]. I bought a used kartboy short shifter shaved it down to the right size then re-taped it.
Im not a big fan of the golf ball shaped momo ones.

Legacy knob
Momo/Subaru knob (although it seems to raise the height a bit IMO)
kartboy, but it's a bit smaller, and does get a little hot in direct sun light, but the momo does as well.
All of these require no adapters and screw right on :)
I've owned both the kart boy, the Momo/Subaru, and a plain Momo one without the Subaru branding

The MOMO feels great, and looks good, but not for long.
The sticker in the middle tends to fall off, and the top of the shift knob looses its shine. 've seen a few of the old timers with with this knob and its always the same story.

I used to use the 'glove' mod on my greddy. It was chrome and it would get hot. Besides you can shape the glove into funny shapes so if anyone looks in your car they get a surprise. :P

I've tried a momo knuckleball and a LGT shift knob on the car and prefer the stocker because it gives so much feedback and is very light. I don't mine putting in the extra pressure for the throw. The other knobs where heavy, so you don't have to apply as much force during a shift, but also cancel out all of the "feel".
But thats just my preference, I prefered the LGT knob over the momo.

Which brings up the subject...what IS the correct threading for a Subaru shift knob? I was using a knob from a MINI Cooper for a while, nice and heavy, I'll post a pic when I have the opportunity. Problem is, to get it threaded, I had to fill the core with liquid metal. BMW/MINI knobs are just a press-on.

I got bored with my stock knob, so I found some spare aluminum rod, and milled my own with my grandfather on his lathe.
The correct thread for the WRX shift lever is 12x1.25 (trust me on that)
The first one was a spherical style:
It was nice, 250grams (stock is only 96g) and 1" shorter.

And I got bored again, so I made a piston style knob and love it!

This gives a very precise feel and you can better feel what gear you are in , and where it moved since the cylinder amplifies the angle of the shift lever.
Im waiting for 5feet of aluminum rod so I can make some more and sell em on here :) lol. I gotta practice to get good at the lathework.
