show me ur interior pics...
some one plzz prove me wrong that the 2002 wrx interior does not look bad as of stock.. some stock or mods one would be tight... maybe even some racing seats?
| brunetmj | 07-05-2002 02:38 PM |
I wasn't exactly sure what you are asking or suggesting in your post. I think it would be accurate to say that most folks here think the stock WRX is very nice looking. I have looked at a lot of cars in the last couple of years and quite honestly there wasn't a single one that impressed me more that the stock interior of the WRX. The Audi the BMW and a few others may be more luxurious but still not as nice looking in my opinion.

Sorry but other than the stock shift knob and the stock gauge box I think our interiors are sweet. Very sleek, form and function type deal. Sorry I wasn't much help, haha. I'll post pics once I get my seats though... still trying to decide between recaros and sparcos.

One thing I have noticed about the WRX shifter is the height.
I have been captain of a few sprts cars in my life and the WRX is the 1st time the shifter is below my thigh. Ever roadsters (del Sol's are NOT sports cars!) have high moung shifters..

EL CRICHON: It looks like the European WRX has a different seat fabric than the ones here in North America - unless yours is an aftermakret seat. Do you happen to have any pix of the seat?
Also, MONKEYJUISE5051, there was a thread about pretty much the same thing just a few days ago - I think it was called something like "bling bling interior" or something. Check it out, there were already wuite a few pix in that (including my car :D )

I've seen those seats before too - I didn't realize they were European. Notice the shape of the bottom of the seat. I like it, looks good.

Wine I must be color blind.
Anyway, before I got my WRX, I was looking at a GTI337, had been a life long dubber. The major complaint on VWvortex was against the WRX interior(they cant really compare anything else), but when I first saw it I was extreamly impressed. Now there are many little things that do annoy me, the header material is crap, the rear seat front bolts stick out and have no covers, the stock shift knob is crap, and the plastic aluminum on the dash is not high quality. This would be compared to a VW, My dad and sister both just got Honda CRV, and aside from like a million more little storage compartments and a rear cup holder Its not close to as nice as the wrx, and they'll both agree with me. Now you must change the shift knob (momo air racer looks the best IMO) and get the sti shift trim. I personnally love the stock seats,I think they look great, but not sure if they'll hold up that well, and they are lint magnets but if you keep a clean car its no prob. Almost everyone who gets in the car is very impressed, and I am verry satisfied. Id post some pics if my car wasnt in the shop

Yea, I think if I had those color seats, I'd "whine" too.
They actuallly LOOK cool (shape-wise), except for the color. Do they "breathe" well - I hate when my back gets all sweaty in the summer.
Also, for everyone here thaats in love with the WRX interior, I think its getting a little over board. OK, sure, its functional. Its easy on the eyes, and YES I do like it. But lets be honest here, build quality doesn't come close to a Toyota, or quality of materials don't even come close to a Honda, and I won't even mention the austhetic quality versus a VW. And sure, SOME of those cars cost more, but thats not the point. Cuz even cars like the Beetle which cost about as much as ours have a VERY sweet interior.

Um the beetle MSRP starts at like 16K, and the turbo s with all the trims is like 22K, thats not the same price range try the Jetta GLX or GLI MSRP @ 25K,and 23K resp. same as WRX, hell a base passat is like 23K, VW interiors rock material wise but they can be a bit creaky. Now in comparison to my dads and sisters CRV, the header material is similar(complete crap) the dash is the same mat., except for the faux aluminum which I mentioned does suck, The seats in the wrx are way better, the honda gets the nod for extras(ie cup holders, and compartments. Now throw in the MOMO wheel, and much nicer guages, plus the avilable upgrades(mome shift knob, sti trim etc.) I perfer the WRX interior, and Ive heard the Honda interior is way nicer than the comprable toyotas. Also remeber that the WRX has a far superior engine etc.

Yeah whatever. The pics look pink, but they are not. Get over it.
The covers are more breathable than the stock seats without covers.
Who says the WRX interior materials are inferior to Honda / Toyota? I've been in Civics, Accords, Corollas and Civics. Other than the headliner, the WRX interior is clearly superior.

I think I would go with Different rather than supirior/inferior. Little things, like the del Sol seats, I find amazing. I have yet to find a seat that holds me more comfortable. The WRX seats are a little too bulky for my taste. Especially the thigh supports. And again, is is just me or should the stick be more in reach for the driver?

Are you asking about the Wet Okoles?
You can just give them a call. When I got them last year, they only had the patterns for the WRX Wagon, so I was only able to get the front covers for my sedan. Do you have a sedan? If you find out they have the rear covers for the sedan, let me know. :D
I think they cost me around $250 for the front pair. Quality is top notch, they fit like a glove.
If you are interested in leather, I believe there's another group buy going on. Otherwise, you can visit www.leatherseats.com

SKYLINE: "Who says the WRX interior materials are inferior to Honda / Toyota?" I do. Simple as that :D . Like I mentioned before, I LIKE my car's interior - especially the way I have it modded - but even my mothers last gen Accord has a tighter fit dash with higher-end materials. I like the fairly 'simplistic' WRX layout, and I have yet to hear any creakin or other sounds, and on top of that, I think the WRX's dash fits the car's image perfectly, BUT there no way its as "good" (quality/style-wise) as some other cars out there.
Luckily the WRX has other thigns about it that way offset it - such as performance and handling and stuff like that. Also, I do LOVE the WRX's seats.
For anyone with leather seats, is the leather perforated or no? Doesn't it get HOT under those seats after a while? I've never owned a car with leather seats, but I figure in the summer, i'd HATE them.

This thread could be a great repository of what people have done to their interiors.
It would provide a reference point and give individuals some ideas for what they may want to copy (or avoid).
To encourage input and with all due respect, please try to keep negative comments to a minimum. Those may be addressed if someone makes a post asking for comments e.g. My new interior what do you think?

lol, actually it's ok excpect for the handle on the glove box. that has got to go, IMO. As long as you like, that's what matters. I could care less what someone else thinks about my interior (well, I care, but wouldn't change for them).

TYPE C... umm, WHAT have you even done to your interior???
I see an aftermarket radio and a single gauge next to the tach.
Am I missing something here or what?
I wasn't saying my interior is different (in fact, it's common looking, just how I like it), just that the WRX interior in general is nice IMO.

Shafted
I always wondered why you Americans upgrade the seats in the USDM WRX's. I presumed they were the same as my '96 JDM WRX RA. I'll post some pics of a real interior (100% stock JDM) on the weekend if anybody is keen.

Re: From the top, left to right,
which shift knob is that? it looks like the MOMO Phantom to me but a little bigger. is it almost the same shape and size as stock?
