There's 17 pages and tons of photos. Definately some of the craziest and most impressive pics i've ever seen. :)

gravel 12-08-2004 04:35 PM

That was a promo with Mika Hakkinen and his wife (yes a 2 seater) filmed in Finland

artkevin 12-08-2004 06:07 PM

Damn nice find.
Gethin 12-08-2004 07:39 PM

Vicky Butler Henderson went for a spin in a two seater F1 car on the Top Gear UK show on snow. I think it was Hakkinen driving.
Kitsune 12-08-2004 10:08 PM

Awsome. :D
Penguinking 12-08-2004 10:37 PM

noticed several pictures with a 996 turbo in rally setup - didn't know they were actually competitive in Group N. anyone know more about porsche factory support for rally teams? (not asking about their support in the past, i mean currently)
jiang 12-09-2004 01:41 AM

this will keep my buisy for a while!

What a wimp! I get way more air than that over that jump.
Penguinking 12-09-2004 09:55 AM

i wonder what the highest recorded jump in rally racing is? anyone with the statistics on hand?
pezman04wrx 12-09-2004 10:19 AM

Great find ... That should provide hours of amusement ... Thanks ... Always amazing to me in rallying how many absolutely moronic spectators there are ... What, do they all get together, say ... "Hmmm, think I'd like to get seriously mangled or killed today" ... "Lets all go find the highest speed corner, and stand on the outside of it" ... ... Oh well, to each their own ...
TimStevens 12-09-2004 10:24 AM

Better yet, let's put our tent on the outside of it

This is why stage rally doesn't work in the US, fans want to do this but then want to become millionares when they get hit:

We don't know what the approach looked like and the first objective of stage rallying or any racing for that matter is to finish the race, second to finish well, third to impress.

the approach is pretty flat and 5th gear.

my objective is to land on the flat (bottom) sideways into medium left.
patr 12-10-2004 02:55 AM

Bonzo 12-10-2004 10:45 AM

Did this photographer make it out alive?
TimStevens 12-10-2004 11:15 AM

I was wondering that too when I saw that. I was kinda hoping the car was actually coming up from the left onto the road, rather than wildly swinging around a corner with the rear-end hanging off the road... but it's hard tot ell.
johnei 12-10-2004 11:18 AM

4wd Ford with its wheels pointed in the right direction so I think the photographer made it out alive.
i wonder what the highest recorded jump in rally racing is? anyone with the statistics on hand?
I think that the famous FAFE Jump on old Portugal rally holds the record, and i even think its Gronholm about 56 meters

you're correct, but everyone slows down, unless you want to demolish your car. This jump is in Australia.
TimStevens 12-10-2004 01:57 PM

Yes, on the minedrop stage, as has been mentioned.

Trust us, we're quite familiar with it :)
rallymaniac 12-10-2004 02:00 PM

you want to be even more busy???

"Did this photographer make it out alive?"
That a classic Reinhard Klein shot from 86 Acropolis. He has a few that are a little too close for comfort but that one is reasonably tame. Check out this photographer...

TimStevens 12-10-2004 04:47 PM

hope he got the shot!
Nawambo 12-10-2004 05:17 PM

Man, I would love to rally!!!
I need to be able to afford to compete with a car and own a normal car... oh ya A N D make sure my wife doesn't disown me!

Ah that's not so bad, the car is traveling sideways, not at him. Also this shot is with a long lens which compresses the image and makes it look a little closer than it really is, though it is still fairly close ;)

I've been closer vvv :D

Penguinking 12-12-2004 02:37 AM

whoa - those two jumps: the one real one, and the snapshot from the video game - look almost exactly alike! is the one in the game a model of the real rally section?
TimStevens 12-12-2004 10:47 AM

Yep, features four (IIRC?) stages from Canberra. None of the names of the others come to mind, though.
