Those with Recaro's step in

I am thinking of getting a set for the car. One question I have is how comfortable are they? I do a lot of street driving and dont want to get hard or uncomfortable seats. Thanks

no joke recaro speed seats are incredible. I dont have them but a friend of mine does and they are so much better than the stock o4 seats. i would et a pair but they are i think 600 each

Bride isnt over rated at all. They make some of the best seats out there, however Recaro is on the same level, and even better for a daily driver IMO.
Fixed bucket isnt the best for daily driver, but it works. I have the Recaro Speed seats and they are so great, even for back support!

I've been thinking about upgraded my 04 STI seats... i also want something alittle more comfort for daily driving.... wat do u think i should go with??
| vinceGC8 | 11-06-2006 03:03 PM |
they are awesome seats. i have one for my drivers seat in m 2000 RS right now and i love it. although i would like a full non-reclineable bucket, it just doesnt suit me, since i use this car as my daily driver.

its about 800 for the seat plus brackets and sliders, so ur looking closer to 1000-1100 for the seat.
but its well worth the money

So bride isnt good for daily driving? I have been looking at Bride as well as Recaro. Also, has anyone had any experience with momo seats? I think it would be pretty cool to carry the theme through the interior but if they are crap seats I will not even consider.

recaro>bride for me everday
brides are just too overpriced. they are REALLY REALLY nice and top quality BUT you can get recaros which are of teh same quality or better imo for cheaper.
if recaros are good enough for a lot of OEM peformance cars (porsche, subaru, evos, vws, aston martins etc.) then they gotta be good enough for me

I have a set of Recaro Speed seats. NOTHING beats them... I have the reclinable type and love them!
Aaaaaand... I recently moved from Orlando, FL to Austin, TX and DROVE the gap in my Suby... ~20 hours and ~1200 miles later, and my back felt great! No joke!
Don't worry about comfort issues, they are non-existant! You can even add in lumbar padding support if you need to. :)

Recaro seats that I would recommend for the Subaru are the: SRD (discontinued), Speed, Sport, Style, or Trend, all of which are 2 peice adjustable and just rock in comfort. As for one piece I'd have to say, SPG and Pole position (for big guys, I'm 6'2" 220) or SPG XL for bigger guys.
Sparco has some nice 2 piece adjustable seats, just not as understated as the Recaro's. Torino, Monza, Imola, Milano are the most popular, but my personal favorite is by far the Modena. It's a pretty new seat but is just amazing in comfort, it also has a fiberglass frame which makes it lighter than every other two piece out on the market.
Figured I'd just give a few options. Seats are like shoes, you need to try them out to see what fits you the best.
Sorry for the thread jacking.

I have SRDs in my WRX. They're not as comfy as stock. On longer trips they give me back ache. But for side support, they're really good. I'm 6'2" and 210lbs. They were too snug in the beginning, but they've packed out a bit and are perfect now.
| garface | 11-07-2006 10:21 PM |
SRD's are awesome. Great quality and awesome fit. I'm small and they were great for me, while some of my huge friends still loved them. I'm selling my set, but they served me well while I had them in.

Actually, they are discontinued. Speedware just happens to have the remaining stock. You couldn't get them from Recaro any more, as they don't make them. The Speed replaced the SRD as the current model. The two seats are very similar, but yet still different.
But now at least everyone knows where to still find a nice seat for a great price!

I'd have to agree with this statement. At my size, I wouldn't purchase a set because they are not wide enough for my big butt. It's true they do pack a little which is very nice.
The Speed in comparison is actually more slender in the both the seat and seat back. Similar styling and great combo street and track seat because of the availability to use a 4, 5, or 6 point harness.

I have Bride Zeta-III L's myself, and I plan on daily driving in them. I'm 6'6" and 195. But They fit me more or less exactly (there's precisely zero space on either side of my hips/legs), and they're buckets, so no reclining. They're top notch quality though, probably some of the best I've seen. However, as everyone is saying, the Recaro's are just as good as the Brides, and they come in a lot larger sizes that are more comfortable for the non average height Japanese person.

Nice interior! I like the black carpet and door panels. You recover the back seat in black too? Curious as to why you got the 5 point seats, no way to run a sub strap on the passenger side with the stock airbag occupancy pad in the seat...
| LightWerkz | 11-08-2006 08:40 AM |
Again, these are recaro seat, there is not stock airbag inside them silly.

| DocWyte | 11-08-2006 09:11 AM |
I'm aware there are no side airbags, however, if you want the passenger side front airbag to work properly, you need to transfer over the stock passenger airbag occupancy bladder to the recaro seat. That's what I did, so everything works as it should...
| LightWerkz | 11-08-2006 09:20 AM |
The passenger airbag should still work fine without transferring anything. What do you mean work properly?
Even though the only way to test would be to actually get into an accident, so how are you sure everything works correctly?
I am just going by from what I have read, which was as long as I put in the resistors into the airbag wires under the seats, the circuit is completed and everything works as it should.

The resistors are just to fool the airbag computer into thinking that the side airbags are still there. Without the stock passenger side airbag occupancy bladder or module, the airbag computer can't tell if there's someone in the passenger seat or not. At that point I'd wager that in a crash, it won't fire off the passenger side airbag.
That's why I transferred all that stuff over to my recaros. However, I don't think I could run a sub strap as the bladder would be in the way.

Anyone on here have Sparco Monza or Torinos? They look like they might be slightly less supportive than the Recaro Speeds, but maybe more comfortable for a DD?
I'd love to find someplace that has a few of these in stock. Anyone know of some places in the midwest? Guessing the closest to me will be in the Chicago area.

Very comfortable bolsters, honestly.
In & out is alittle harder since I am low to the ground, but nothing you cant get used too.

i've had Sparco, Corbeau, Recaro, and now Bride in my car. and i gotta say Recaro is the most comfortable aftermarket seat handsdown. sure the Bride i have now is more supportive, but the comfort level is still a step down from the Recaro i had(both reclineable). i heard even the Recaro SPG bucket is very comfortable to daily drive in.

We, Speedware, are large enough to order hundreds of seats at a time. Recaro is willing to bring back certain seats, in this case the SRD, for us because we do so much volume for them. I have had meetings with the my owner to make this the last batch of SRD's, because we don't want to lose the novelty that the SRD has.
In this last batch of 150 seats, 75 pair, special colors were ordered. Black with Black stitching, Black with grey inserts, black with red logo and top stitch, black with yellow logo and top stitch, black with white logo. I think thats it. We're expecting to receive shipment in February.
"The SRD seats are currently available for PRE-ORDER only to be delivered February 2007"
Are you sure the SRD didnt replace the speed?[/QUOTE]
We, Speedware, are large enough to order hundreds of seats at a time. Recaro is willing to bring back certain seats, in this case the SRD, for us because we do so much volume for them. I have had meetings with the my owner to make this the last batch of SRD's, because we don't want to lose the novelty that the SRD has.
