two tone paint part 1

tonzo 08-07-2006 07:44 PM

two tone paint
I spent a whole 5 minutes on this so i apologize on the quality of the job but using a little bit of imagination what do you think?

wrxcelent 08-07-2006 07:49 PM

ug....
tonzo 08-07-2006 08:00 PM

that was helpful
semaj 08-07-2006 08:04 PM
that was helpful
You asked for opinions, he gave you his. As for myself, I don't think it suits a Subaru...too Fast and Furious for me. More of a Honda thing, aint it? :D
pimpindada21 08-07-2006 08:08 PM

please dont do it
Cole 08-07-2006 08:11 PM

MAYBE black over silver....red, no way...
LathanM 08-07-2006 08:28 PM

I kind of like it. I don't know about the low strip but 2 tone with a accent pintstrip between the colors. Before you commit to it you can try it our full sized on your car to see how it looks. Duplicolor has a new removable spray paint. I have been playing with it and it is kind of fun. I have been using it over the last week or so to test striping ideas. So far I have gone through 5 different patterns to see what works. I first got it to check see what the stuff could really do. For $20 I was able to get 5 cans and a roll of painters tape.
Handsdown 08-07-2006 08:52 PM

do it, at least you[ll be unique; it's not as ricey as chrome sidemarkers and altezzas.
Tim-H 08-07-2006 09:11 PM

I think the only subaru two tone works on is the SVX, and black over red is increadible on it.
tonzo 08-08-2006 01:33 AM

I admit the double stripe at the bottom is a bit much. As for being fast and the furious ish, it actually reminds me more of something you'd see on an 80's mustang.

Here's an older one, a bit more simplistic.
And the reason i said "that was helpful" was because "ug..." doesn't really help much here. At least explain yourself a little
RICEREX 08-08-2006 01:43 AM

um.. very rice mod
tonzo 08-08-2006 01:57 AM

hhhm, I'm mainly just searching for ideas on a paint job. I want to do something different. I knew i should've been ready for the rice comments
brfatal 08-08-2006 02:02 AM

Pardon my choice of wording, but keep this kind of thing up and you will find a boot print in you ass and a locked door behind you. We don't tolerate racial slurs around here, and if it is something you are accustomed to and wish to continue with, I suggest you find the door out of here on your own.

For a college guy, you really are not all that bright, are you? I'd say ignorant is a good descriptor. Remember that door? You got it- good luck editing the post now. We don't need people like you around here.
tonzo 08-08-2006 02:15 AM

yyyeeeaaaa, you might want to edit that last comment. Plus you might want to clarify on it too, maybe im just not used to that term because of growing up in the city.
awdbeast 08-08-2006 02:42 AM

"Hrraaaghhhhhh."

"He said his name's Ralph."
kkam030 08-08-2006 03:26 AM

thumbs down.
ekw 08-08-2006 08:03 AM
Pardon my choice of wording, but 2 toning would brfatalize your car.
as they say, 'fixed'.
[rant]
you know, if i heard you say what you posted, i might think that it had slipped out of your mouth before your brain had engaged.
but seeing as you typed it, AND seemed to know that your wording was unacceptable, why on earth would you then post it anyway?

and don't fire up that "aren't I PC enough for you crap"
you are in a public forum of car enthusiasts, not your back yard.

he's from texas. are you suprised or something?

on the serious, not cool. i'm sure tool points will be awarded shortly.

as for the original poster, i kinda dig it...perhaps having the black stop somewhere closer to the window tho.
russd32 08-08-2006 09:50 AM

Try moving your line where the colors meet up a little bit. Maybe about an inch about the door handles. I think that would make a huge difference.
state 08-08-2006 10:10 AM

I am not really sure as to what slurs/comments were made about it, but I like the color combo and the placement. it is different, and personalized. and as long as you like it, and it doenst look like a poop paint job then do it! oh, and post pics.
tonzo 08-08-2006 03:30 PM

thanks for editing that comment. that was totally uncalled for. But anyway, my original intentionwas to make the line go around the car where the natural line is on the gc8. I'll take some more time to come up with a better photoshop production of it.

just wondering, do you think the one solid line looks better or the solid line with the line above it?

I can't really decide lol. I was also thinking about going with the mazda red on the new rx8s for the bottom color. We'll see
brfatal 08-08-2006 03:31 PM
I would f'in slice open your throat if I could reach you! :furious:
Come and try it fat boy.

I stand by what I said. It's no more racist than saying a car is a beaner-mobile.

If he wants to 2 tone his car he might as well finish it by putting 22s on it and "accenting" the wheel wells and doors with chrome stripping.
kaspur_eh 08-08-2006 03:31 PM

black hood, black roof, black trunk is sick

So what do you call the outback impreza? .....oh, I believe that's two tone

and since when has two toning become a racial thing? two toning started with the hot rods

too me the impreza doesn't have a sharp enough body like to split like that

your profile shows you already have a outback impreza. why consider two tone paint jobs for a car that already is two tone?

put up a picture of your car and I'll photoshop it properly if you like.

I'm pretty sure 96 impreza outbacks were one color. I think it's when it became an OBS when they went two tone. Could very well be wrong.
Jonnyfilmboy 08-08-2006 08:45 PM

I'd pass on that particular paint job. The top looks brown to me. Brown over red. Never seen that before. Maybe it would look good, but I don't think I've ever liked a brown car before.

Maybe blue and white. Something racy. What kind of look are you going for? Fast? Classic? Classy sports car? 50's nostalgia?

Here's a cool paint job I saw the other day:

tonzo 08-08-2006 09:02 PM

no the 96 outback impreza's are two tone. And I just want to repaint my car all together. I like the way my car is for now but im going through some major revisions. I'm giving it the 97-01 facelift, starting on my build, taking the rack off, etc.

and btw, it is black and red. not brown..maybe your monitor color is a wee bit off? I'm just looking to do something semi original. Going for a sporty look but trying to stay away from being race car-esque and rice-ish. I didn't really think it looked like a ricer job but idk
ScoobyDoobieBlue 08-08-2006 10:28 PM

Just paint the "top" black and make the body a different color like they do on some 240sxs.
szkud 08-09-2006 12:16 AM
and btw, it is black and red. not brown..maybe your monitor color is a wee bit off?
Absolutely not. I'm a graphic designer and colors are my specialty. My color settings are set perfectly. You have transparancy set for the brush [most likely to save the features of the car, but you need to desaturate the reds out. Either your monitor's contrast or brightness is set too low or you just don't see the color/archiving et cetera.

Like this:

Always get the biggest source pic you can or you end up making it look like a video game to get the crud out.

I'll grab a stock green one and show you what I think would be good black and red.
tonzo 08-09-2006 12:27 AM

def not my monitor lol, if there's one thing i do know it's computers. "as a graphic designer" you may be getting a wee bit too technical with your colors. If you read the beginning of the thread I said i apologized for quality because i seriously sat down for like 5 minutes.
runwrxrun 08-09-2006 12:47 AM

Why not just have the roof painted black? Looks much cleaner
szkud 08-09-2006 01:21 AM
Why not just have the roof painted black? Looks much cleaner
I agree.

...or if you're hell bent on more black hood, roof, trunk. The seams run very well on that car to just get single panels painted. It will save you some money as well.

Not trying to match anymore than that.
I'm all about the dark, unassuming, menacing look personally.
clbd39 08-09-2006 01:42 AM

looks almost like a ricey civic that drives around my town... my opinion ... NO, some other color options may work, but that is just, not my taste

EDIT: if you want to play around with colors, get the game FORZA and play around on there, that is a really good place to do some different ideas

also, beaner is just a word used to paraphrase a group of people who like beans, that came straight from carlos mencia's mouth lol
tonzo 08-09-2006 08:42 AM

He's right with the beaner comment. They wouldn't allow him to say beaner over and over on his show if it was racist/offensive such as the N word.

And as for the legacy....me no likey. I'll get around to redoing it soon. I'll make the line exactly where i meant to do it on the car too.

goodness gracious! they still teach sociology at All White U ?
then i retract my earlier comment.
i would never presume to argue with a college student.
nothing could possibly outweigh a few years of book learning & classes.
i can't wait to see how intelligent and worldly you are once you actually get a degree.

hopefully by then you will have gained some useful real world social skills.
the new semester should be starting in a month or so.
why not sign up for
"How to Stop Riding A Dead Horse" ?
or perhaps "Knowing When To Shut Up" ?

meanwhile, back to the thread.
szkud - can you alter the background color to something more neutral?
i am losing the near black part of the car in the near black background

And obviously I must be pretty dumb in order to have a Soci degree with a Psych minor and was accepted to grad school for Psychology. :o

I like the idea of 2 tone paint and I too was thinking of doing the hood and everything above the glass/molding line black and leave the rest of it white. There is a pic on the wagon forum with a 2tone paint job I think it is black and orange like a harley Davidson orange, it looked pretty good. i just can't bring my self to spend the money as I am only around stage2 and want to do some suspension mods before I do anything else. Anyone else have a photo chop to offer with a bugeye wagon with 2 tone?

Do you even know what anti-semetic means?

I did not say anything racist. It was purely descriptive terminology. I wasn't refering to black people, I was refering to a certain style. I snapped at the mod for penalizing me for something I didn't do. I'm done in this thread. Clearly some people are just retarded. In the future I guess I'll be more careful in what I say. I won't say "That car is bitchin" because I might get yelled at for being derogatory towards women or even dogs.
4wdrift 08-11-2006 11:51 PM
