We are looking to sponsor a car
We are looking to sponsor a few cars and provide either the Subzero wheel or the Tarmac wheel.
We are looking for people who actually race and do it on a regular basis. We are not looking for any show cars or drag cars. We are looking for touring, autocross, and any other off road racing. We want the wheels to be punished and put them to a true test. If you currently race and would like more info on how to obtain a sponsorship please call me or e-mail me at
Please include the following:
- picture of your car and you
- List of mods
- Current sponsors
- Race schedule
- Some info about yourself.

OH yeah
Definitely sponsor Jamie (subie-gal). That's a no brainer. Her car is infamous in the seattle area, she is a huge proponent of autosports participation, subaru-boosting, and one of the highest profile characters in the subaru community in the northwest.
| johnfelstead | 01-08-2002 05:19 PM |
Jamie is very well known accross the entire US and also Europe. Pretty much everywhere actually. :D:lol:
Jamie is a serious, dedicated competitor going places! I hope you guys can work together.

Only caveat being here is that you'll probably need to get some sort of agreement that the wheels appear in their production color... otherwise you know she'd get them powdercoated yellow. ;)

I would be VERY interested in testing new wheels. I had done some Beta testing with HKS in the old Lucky Dodge days with intercoolers and chips on an 86 Mitsu Mirage Turbo. Sadly, though it was powerful, it could not take turns like the CRX Si's of that time.
My record starts back in 1974 with Triumphs, Lotus Europa's, English Ford, then on to RX7, Mirage Turbo, CRX Si, then away for a few years, then Audi A4 1.8T, Z3 Coupe, and now a brand new WRX.
In the Midwest:
was the 2nd fastest TR GT6 in the country back in 1975
1 FTD Overall with 69 Europa
5 FTD Stock with 69 Europa
won AS that year
was class champ (ASP) for 4 years in a row Chicago Region SCCA with 79 RX7
won all midwest street grand prix autox events (Portage, Springfield, and Misewauka)
dominated Midwest Council time trial events at Blackhawk Farms with RX7 in same time period
won class at Road America with Alfa Club
Now in So Cal (Cal Club SCCA):
ran at the old Riverside a few times with the alfa Club
recently in 99 I won both AS and STR when I switched cars in mid-season.
came in 2nd (loosing 1st at last race) overall in 2000 in SK1 class (SS, AS, and FS street tire only class and under an index system)
In BMWCCA events, not only took stock 6, 8, 12 cyl BMW class, and beat all //M stock cars, but would beat a good 90% of //M Mod car class
ran Pahrump with Audi Quattro Club twice, Vegas Speedway with BMWCCA, Willow Springs with SpeedtrialUSA once, and Streets of Willow with the POC (missing Boxster class record by about half a second)
placing 3rd in 2001 after not able to make half the races that year, still had enough points lead
For this year, and with the new WRX, I plan on setting it up for the new STX class. I can use any wheel, as long as it is NOT over 7.5" wide, and tires no larger than 225. I plan on getting a set of Azenis RS tires for this class. The only mod on the car at the moment is a 4" Supertrapp from my old Z3. I plan on coilovers, swaybars, camber plates, links, engine/trans mounts, and possibly the Uni-Chip (without boost control - not legal in STX).
I also plan on doing some more track events with POC, QCUSA, BMWCCA, and Speedtrial soon with the new WRX.
Current (semi) sponsor is the Auto Club of So Cal, AAA (also my employer). Schedule of events is at Cal Club SCCA
Hope this is of interest?
PS: If you were ever to look over the old records, back in the Midwest I used to beat ol' PD Cunningham (PTG BMW Team and Realtime Racing owner) more than he would beat me back in the days when we AutoX'd together :)
Guess you could say I'm an old fart??? :)

I've done one RallyX (and beat some WRXs while doing it :)) and plan on running some AutoX this coming season BUT the biggest test of wheels that I can offer you is that I live/drive (ALOT) on Chicago streets and I go back home to SE Michigan where the roads are just as bad.

Hahahahah! Being originaly from Steger/Chicago Heights - I can attest to what he is saying :) British Leyland (Triumph and MG in the old days) searched the world over for the biggest and worst pothole for their test track. Guess where they found one to make a mold of . . . . . CHICAGO!

you guys need to try the Brussels ring road at 2am in a Westie.
Perfectly smooth for tens of miles then BAM, i hit that succer doing 100MPH and was airborne for at least 50 feet. Landed with oposite lock on!
Turns out there is a bridge there and it's subsided a bit leaving a big ridge right across the motorway. There are signs for it but as i dont speak the lingo i didnt realise what all the flashing words meant! Absolutely crapped myself. :D

| SHADOWES | 01-09-2002 01:41 PM |
I am sorry for the stupid question but don't you guys only make 17" and larger wheels... that is not exactly ideal for rally type "off road racing" unless you are refering to any type of racing other than street racing... but if you want to try them out as a rally wheel I would be glad to campain them in the 2002 SCCA Rocky Mountan Divisional Rally-X championship, but finding a good tire might be hard.
| z3coupe | 01-09-2002 03:54 PM |
SHADOWES, do you need the "nubby" style tires for that, or can real good & sticky street tires work too? Cause then I would strongly suggest the new Falken Azenis RS tires! These are the choice at the moment for most ST(S or soon to have the new X) class SCCA Solo II drivers. And they are CHEAP in price!
| SHADOWES | 01-10-2002 12:27 PM |
Dirt tires are not nessisary but they do deffinatly help. it is recomended thyat us atleast use some kind of mud ans snow rated tire. the racing is usualy in loose dirt and a high performance street tire is not going to dig in well at all. I guess that a 17" snow tire would work ok but the low aspect ratio of the tire would not be ideal at all.

i would love to be a tester for your wheels.
this will be my 2nd season for auto-x where from my first season anyone that raced with me can say that my times from my first to last races have consistently gotten better (placing higher overall).
i have placed in the top 10 for PAX a few times (didn't make it to every race being it was my 1st season i was only in for the fun and experience) in one of the largest regions, the Philly Region where we frequent 100+ cars each race.
i will send more through e-mail

Count your blessing Trojan9x! Here in Cal Club, we have been getting as many as 300+ cars entered, and its getting to the point that we are cleaning up the course in the dark! We now even have to limit the "X" runs (fun runs) so that the points card holders can get their 3 runs in. I'll tell ya, its not FUN working (standing with no shade) for 1+ hours out on a course waiting for your run group to be up next! But it does make for large classes with plenty of competition.
We used to have a night event at a Sherriff's training center - a real road course with elevation changes and all sorts of other fun parts - until the Porsche Club hit the guardrails one too many times. But in October, we at least still have a 2 day event at Buttonwillow raceway.

Fastest Subaru
1 Attachment(s)
After looking through the thread I feel the necessity to nominate the
fastest Auto-X Subaru at nationals this year, Chris Fleming's COBB Tuned
WRX. Chris has also won his Divisional Championship for
Subaru. I Met Chris and his team in Peru, IN and again at Nationals. I was
surprised by the level of professionalism that Chris and his team bring to
Auto-X. He was very helpful to all competitors, offering assistance with car
set up and driving technique. From what I can tell he is sponsored by Subaru
of America, a major
dealer group in Texas, COBB Tuning and others.
If you are looking for national exposure Chris is your ticket. While at
Nationals, we got talking about next year. He said he is going to be
running Pro-Solo and Solo II, meaning exposure 25-30 weekends by my
calculations. He said he is building a new motor specifically tuned for
Auto-X (450hp~ and a ton of torque) If your company could provide a big
enough wheel for him, I am sure you would get some invaluable exposure along
with a huge test for your wheels. (One of his sponsors provided the Forged
BBS/SOA 17x7's last year).
I flew into the DFW area to buy a new WRX from Chris and have it modified by
Cobb tuning, they are a great asset to the Subaru community!!! Highly
recommended!!
Here is a picture of Chris hustling the WRX though the cones at the National
Tour stop in Peru, IN.

Shouldn't the guys that are getting nominated do this on their own? It's not fair to some of the other guys attempting to get sponsorship on this.

vote
I'll cast a vote for Pat Lipsinc (KCTopDog) as well. He had a hell of a year autox-ing last year, and I think it was his first serious year of it. Besides autox he does alot for the local SCCA div, working booths at the local shows, helping to sign up members and talk to people about autox and such. At a show last year here in KC, there was a MASS of people around his car asking about it and autox and SCCA. And he setup last year's KC meet and the rallyx for it. Also whereas some might have a dedicated autox car, I'm pretty sure Pat's goes to work everyday as well as blazin around the cones.
| mykrrrr | 01-18-2002 01:00 PM |
I say Pat Lipsinc as well. He's done a super job and he can't go anywhere but up!!!
MonoSki - It seems like Chris Flemming has enough support from COBB.
I say Pat is the right person for it.

I'll throw in another vote for Pat (KC_TopDog).
MonoSki - Chris looks like he has all the backing he needs with Cobb... I don't think there is enough space for another sponsorship on that car.

One more for Pat
I want to throw another vote Pats way (KC_Topdog), not just because he's my friend but because he's probably the best driver in our region, usually getting better times than the people on race tires. He was also winning STS back about a year ago on a stock suspension. Stock way bar and all, if that's not a feat I don't know what is.

Another vote for Pat L.
I have to agree with throwing Pat L. a vote. I've seen him drive many a race over the past few years and he always does well. He's a talented driver.

If you want a good person to test wheels, Pat is your man. He drives hard ALL of the time and can give your product some serious testing (abuse:devil: ). He is known throughout the local SCCA region as going 110% at every event. He also does alot of everyday (around town/highway) driving, and well, hes one hell of a good guy.

Yet ANOTHER vote for Pat
MonoSki,
Chris Flemming doesn't need a sponsor, He's got plenty of backing with Cobb and that one dealer.
Pat is an awesome driver and would do Subaru, and his sponsor proud.
Not to mention (as My comrade Ben stated) an all around great guy. He organized, and ran our anual meet here in Kansas City, mostly by himself. He spent countless hours of his free time doing things for others. And then he went out and did awesome at the rally! You could tell just by watching him that he is one with that car. A true precision driver. Any sponsor would be lucky to have him.

If those rims are heavy then I think Pat is your man, j/k ;) I kept finishing behind him at the Divisionals. He just kept on winning them. You will get the exposure you need from him at National level events. He finished 2nd at Nationals in STS, the fastest Sube in class.
I read where a lot of people are really wanting sponsorship but the local events just don't cut it.
Pat, I hope you got your sponsorship from Falkens. I am looking forward to racing you again.
