thats cold, funny for u to say that because u no nothing about are driver who has more experience than half the field, it was the set up SCCA was allowing us it just wasnt com. enough. we saw no need to dump all the money in to a program that scca wouldnt let us make a com. car to finish in teh top 10,
that is why we pulled after atlanta- as for sebring we had a top 15 car but got put in the wall in turn 4. we started 30th and made it to 15 in the first 2 corners, the reason for bad qual, was handling problems we fixed that morning of the race

I did see NOS in a rental car at the ALMS/World Challenge race in Portland...
I haven't been forbidden to post in these forums by the WC team I work for, I just am careful with what I post. I've met Michel Flynn, and saw the car on track the first time it ever went on track, and think it's a noble effort. The car was VERY fast in the rain, and I think the lack of sucess of the team shows how difficult it really is to get a totally new car sorted for World Challenge. They are not the only ones that have had difficulties taking a totally new car and getting it up to speed in the last few years.

not every one knows how difficult it is to bring a entire new car/program to run w/ the big teams who have 150,000 dollars invested in each car non the less the crew and rest of the campaining that they do.
all i can say is that we tried w/ what we where allowed to do as a team and it hasent worked out to our advantage yet
the whole reason we went w/ subaru is the talk of turbos for 2 yrs now, all we were doing was getting the experince to be comp. when teh time was right.
but im sure half of you could jump in a w/c car and place in the top 5 right!
all weve done has been w/ no factory support because of the no turbo rule, so its been a complete privatire campain
we are coming back and will be stronger, just trying to get support from people we let down - sorry my bad for not speeling right- dick!

cant say yet but i will say there will be 2 cars for 05 and we should run most of the series to start strong in 06 with 2 competitive cars, they are going to restrict the turbo cars heavily, so its not going to be a overnight thing, we have been working w/ the turbo motor more recently because we where thinking of going to grand-am.
Mike is one of the best drivers ive seen, and probably one of the best ams. in the country. trust me when i say its not a driver problem, it was the set up, we had all the hp. to run w/ the top cars this year but had no torque. we had to make the motors so strung out to be comp. it was hurting us more
are drivers have won many club championships and are accomplished drivers, but w/c is a whole new game IT TAKES TIME

Ah, trust me, I know Mike can drive...rubbed fenders with him a couple times in my IT days. And have seen him win countless times. Its just that it is very hard to concentrate on driving when you own and manage an entire WC race team. It makes things too interesting. Well, if the second car needs a driver...and funding...you and Mike know where to call.

rubbed some fenders w/ mike, he doesnt do that expecially in IT.
mike is driving one car, the other driver is not going to be announced yet but a deal is in the works(no names)but you probably know him from his (SM) driving skills.
mike owns the team of course does not do a lot of managing, we have our ducks in a row on the background scenes. most of our stuff is headed up by Sam Watkins. not a large crew so easy to maintain.
il tell him about the seat offer!!!!!!!

Funny "Mike King" does'nt sound Familiar. When did you race with him. For as long as I've known Mike, About 5 years, The only way you would be rubbing fenders with Mike is if you were battling for the lead or being lapped.
| stxwrxracer | 08-03-2004 12:22 AM |
Was in the mid-90's 92,93,94,95 timeframe...its been a while. Back when the Flis boys were running ITC and ITB as well. And honestly back then on that budget, I was probably being lapped....lol. Still have that car, but its now a very-front running car. Just haven't run it in quite a while.

mike loves rubbing fenders, just stay out of the way when getting lapped, we will be in Sebring on 9/4 for testing and running the mercedes in the ECR.

ive even apologized for not getting better results w/ the car we had, just hopping w/ this addition it will turn around- now that should not affend any other team, i love the W/C scene and hope we stick around because i feel its the best racing program going of its sorts.

I think the point is more your writing and grammar skills. I'm not sure if english is your native language of not, though I'm kinda assuming its not. Unfortunately you are representing your team on a public english language board and, as Gary stated, it really leaves a very unprofessional image on your team if you are not able to articulate yourself properly. So perhaps just leave a disclaimer at the beginning of your thread, apologizing for the bad grammar/spelling because you are originally from country X and you can avoid 3/4's of these posts. I post pretty often on the German Impreza forums and I make it loud and clear that my grammar is more than lacking. Haven't had a wise-ass remark yet.
Goodluck in your racing endeavors.

Gary summed it up well.
But, the bottom line is money -- if the driver has money and can bring sponsors then that will get them a good ride. This sport is more about money and presentation than it is about driver latent.
The last WC race appeared to be a bunch of "professional" race car drivers with big budgets making really stupid judgement calls.
But the same could also be said of the last Grand-Am race, a lot of drivers trying to prove something and making some bad mistakes.
It certainly appears that many drivers are very humble in the public eye, but are overly aggressive on track and make some really bad judgement calls.
I know what this sport is about, MONEY -- you need to have some money and you need to be reasonably good (not great) to be noticed. There are few drivers I know that have spent less than 100K to get a good ride -- I believe AJ Allmendinger is the only person I know that has spent about 30-40K to get picked up by a professional crew.
In some ways I completely agree with Gary, but in others, Gary knows how much $$$ it takes to get from A to B in the Professional racing scene.
Rob.

Well put. Quite honestly if English is indeed your native language then the postings and ramblings here are even more juvenile than previously thought. It takes a negligible amount of time to put together complete sentences, use the spell checker, and use a little capitalization.
I don't know what position you hold with "imracing" but if it were up to me you would be fired for the disservice you are currently providing the team. Further propogation of putting forth such a terrible representation (assuming you are even authorized to make this representation) would most definitely not be in your team's best interest, long or short term. Quite honestly you should stop before you dig the hole any deeper. :(

We are very interested in seeing a Subaru perform well in World Challenge. That's why we have given technical assistance to Irish Mike's whenever we can. We just recently provided Scott Branham some information back in March regarding differentials.
It was the poorly written posts, like yours above, that I took issue with. If you think that your post is constructive and helping Irish Mike's cause, you are mistaken.
So professional. I don't know enough about Mike to comment on his driving ability, but if he's half the driver you are making him up to be, I'm sure he's thoroughly embarrassed by your display. Competent drivers don't need to throw arrogant warnings or threats about. They just get the job done.
You are doing his reputation and racing efforts a disservice with your attitude on this forum.
Oby the way Scott is not a disservice to the team. He most likely would be five times better than you. You *******.
Calling me an a$$hole for my comments is uncalled for.

its unknown if the car is competitive or not. He is getting faster and faster in it, but it is still a new car, that is subject to performance changes, if the SCCA see's it as being too fast or too slow. Plus, its something different.

Yeah, this thread was dead a long time ago. All is long forgotten, every one has been very helpful, and I have no complaints at all. You guys have to say i've improved with my typing (j/k)
Once again, thank you guys and have no hard feelings for the ass reaming I got on this original post. Other forums I've been on just abbrev. everything, and uses child like spelling. And no I still dont use spell check, just type slower.
Thanks guys, Scott
