ok lets bump this up...
i'm looking at getting 05 door cards along with 05 JDM front and rear seats... and i have an 03. the door cards look to be the card only and now the switch insert or door handle insert.
where does that put me? i dont mind doing some work on them but if it would be necessary to purchase a new switch panel and door handle for both sides that will get very expensive very quickly i'm sure.
any guidance there?

Bump for answers to that! I'm curious if you need to buy new switch panels for front and rear or if I can just swap in my '03 stuff.

found out a lot of info in the past 10 mins from talking to people and researching further...
you do need to replace the front switch panel, and either just the surround around the door handle or possible the entire handle as well. you need to modify your tweeter bracket, and you need to buy rear 05 door card brackets. the brackets are not expensive, i imagine that the switch panel and door handle surround and possibly door handle are going to add up.
with all of this new info, i may be stuck with a set or two of 05 STi door cards from guys who can no longer use them. i'm not positive on it so dont hold me to it, but if anyone is interested in brand new 05 STi door cards get in touch and if i have any i'll see what I can do for you.

Yeah, you'll need the 05 STI switch panels and the rear door brackets from an 05 STI. You really don't need the STI door handles. The brackets run around $7 a piece and the switch panels are a little pricey. See if the 05 cards you're getting come w/ the switches. I don't see why they would get rid of the cards and not the switches. If you need a set of tweeter grills from an 05 STI, I have a spare set lying around. You can also get them from the dealer for like $8 a piece. This mod is definetly worth the time and the few bucks. Good luck!

Ok..
You need the front switches from a 05.
You can bend your factory tweeter brackets to fit and you need the rear door brackets from a 05.
Order your switches from Jamie(thats where I got mine..very cheap)

You do NOT need new switches to complete this swap....i have just fitted the original switches into the '05 door handle surrounds.
Just need to dremel a little bit off the underside of each door handle surround.
Also, for the rear, door switches you need to dremel off the screw attachments and get the door brackets. All becomes apparent when you offer the switches up to the new surrounds.
They will then fit into the new surrounds fine.....also, i moved the original door mirror switch to the door surround as well, the '05 switch has a different fitting, so i re-used the 04 switch :)
This was after i had fitted the complete 05-06 centre console assembly ;)

my door panels look different (have like a rectangle speaker grill not circurlar.. did you just get CARDS or the whole sti panel? and fi so then did they change the panels later on or something?

i follow you on the rest of it and it goes along with all of the info i have gathered so far.

This was fitted to an MY03/04 STi RHD UK car.
Wrinkleboi....I changed the complete centre console over to the 05 type as well, so had to move the mirror switch somewhere. I used the original switch and fitted it to the 05 door handle surround.
I'll take some pics tommorow.....so who wants the pics. to host?? :)

hate to resurrect this thread, but what exactly is the difference between the looks of the 04 and the 05 and up door cards beside the fitment and the mirror switch? Has anyone tried using 05 brackets on the front doors to fix the fitment issues there?
I have an 03 wrx, and I might be able to get a set of 05 Sti door cards reasonably cheap, but I was consiering waiting for some 04s if they fit better. Do the 05s look better? Thanks!
